The Director General, Special Duties in the office of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Franck Omare said the demolition of illegal structures in the state is not meant to witch- hunt anybody but to save Deltans who annually suffer from flooding in the state. Omare stated this on Friday when cleaning drainages in Warri, Effurun, and its environs.


According to him, Deltans are faced with flooding in the state due to the building of houses on water -ways by many, either because the buildings were wrongly approved or the owners built them deliberately because they feel, they were close to the government. He said, by this exercise, there would not be sacred cow as any house which is built on the water ways would be pulled down.

His words:” We are faced with flooding situation in this part of the country , especially Warri, Uvwie and its environs because, most of these buildings are on water ways. These buildings were either approved wrongly or deliberately built by people who feel that they are close to government, and that their houses can not be pulled down”.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Asaba, Dr. Mrs Minie Oseji has reiterated Governor Sheriff Oborivwori’s resolve to ensure that Delta State remains the cleanest state in the country.


Mrs. Oseji made stated this in Warri on Saturday during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise she and her team monitored.

Her words:”The Governor has said that he wants Delta State to be clean and Warri must be part of that vision”.

According to her, they were in Warri to monitor and enforce compliance of this month’s monthly environmental sanitation and sensitize the people on the need to keep their environment clean at all times.

Mrs. Oseji who went around some of the markets in Warri, commended the efforts of the Warri South Local Government Area for job well done in this regard. She however lamented the attitude of market traders who dump their refuse into the drainage thereby frustrating the efforts of the contractors handling the storm drainage system in Warri.

The news of Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh Communities renewed crisis have become daily occurrence. One hardly turns the pages of newspapers , online media and tune radios or televisions without reading or catching a view of the attacks and counter attacks by both communities. In fact, many people are more interested to listen or read the disasters recorded-how many people died and, or property destroyed- due to the attack by both parties while to others, they are bored with the news because they are not happy to hear or see their brothers or sisters that have been affected in the crisis. While the crisis sounds like a child’s play, lives and property are wasted each time there are attacks and counter attacks and for those who are not affected, may not know what the affected are passing through.


This crisis has generated comments from many who know what both communities are going through and put in their pieces of advice. Speaking to Bailout Magazine, the Lead pastor, Family House International Church, Warri, Pastor Emmanuel Osiegbu said, both communities are engaging in a fruitless fight as their fore- fathers who had and lived in the land 500 years ago, if they could leave the land, what is the essence of their fighting over the land same land they would finally die and leave behind?. According to him, come to think of it, they (both communities) are inter-married therefore, he sees no need for their fighting over nature.

Report reaching Bailout Magazine says A 17- year- old boy identified as Clinton has reportedly drowned in a swamp in Owhase Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, the incident which has left the residents in the state of mourning.


It was gathered that the deceased who was in company of others, went to the swamp at about 12pm on 26th July to swim unknown to their parents. It was further leant that when the friends of the deceased could not find him around them, they believed he must have drowned, they had to raise alarm. The friends quickly went home to inform their parents and residents of the Community who rushed to the dirty and bushy swamp in search of the deceased.

Contrary to rumour making the round in many parts of the country that the Federal Government has increased the fees of Federal Universities across the country, the Federal Government has said, this is not true as the federal universities remain tuition -free.

The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) in collaboration with Ford Foundation and New Nigeria Foundation have organized a seminar for stakeholders of Oil Producing Communities in Warri and environs on how to benefit from the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA signed into law in 2021.


In his opening speech at PIND Conference Hall, Warri, Delta State, the Executive Director of PIND, Mr. Tunji Idowu said that PIND has committed itself to sensitization and to create awareness session on PIA requirements and implementation process to enable members of Host Communities to understand PIA better.

He said that PIA mandated the creation of Host Communities Development Trusts with the oil and gas operators, described as ‘Settlor’ to incorporate these trusts for the benefits of the host communities and make annual contributions based on 3% of their yearly operating expenditure into a Host Communities Development Trust Fund (HCDTF).

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has frowned at the decision of the Delta State Government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori not to dissolve the active commissions, parastatals and agencies just as it called on the state government to correct some anomaly in the last administration for the speedy growth and development of the state.

Residents of 1st Marine Gate in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Monday, jubilated as the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori approved the provision of a brand new transformer for the community.


Oborevwori, who gave the approval during an inspection of the storm water control projects in the area, said, the transformer would be delivered to the area through the Council Chairman in two weeks.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has ordered the demolition of all buildings erected along waterways in the state.


Oborevwori gave the order on Monday, during an inspection tour of Phases I and II of the Warri/Effurun Storm Water Control Projects in Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas of the state.

The Governor said there was no place in the world where people were allowed to build on waterways and directed the Ministries of Housing, Works and Lands to identify and pull down all such buildings to allow free flow of water on natural water ways.

Governor Oborevwori said: “We started the inspection with Phase ll of the storm water drainage project being handled by CCECC. They have five catchment areas. We have looked at their works and realized that they have done a lot as they have gone very far. They have some obstacles and we also looked at what is causing the obstacles and got to know that there are some buildings on natural water ways which are causing obstructions and slowing down the spate of work being done by the construction firm” .

Nigeria Police have neutralised a- 58 year old suspected kidnapper/ armed robber and recovered one AK-47 rifle and three magazines. The kidnapper/ armed -robber’s arrest was possible with the operation carried out by DPO ‘A’ Division Warri CSP T.Y Mahmud acting on credible intelligence on 23rd June, 2023 at about 0645 hours.


The Police stormed at the hideout of the criminal gang located along Stadium Road, Warri and arrested the suspect and, upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member and armourer of the dreaded “Bobone” armed -robbery gang terrorizing Warri and its environs.

The suspect who also gave the Police additional information on the location of the other gang members later led the Police to their hideout along Chevron Road. Upon the gang sighting the Police team approaching their(armedrobbers’) hideout, opened fire on the Police and the Police responded and the suspect’s attempt to escape, was fatally maimed on his leg, thereby preventing his escape.

Nigeria Police Command have neutralised three suspected armed robbers and recovered one cut- to- size- locally-fabricated gun, two- live cartridges, an unregistered black Toyota Corolla car and eight different vehicles. The operation which was carried out by operatives attached to “B” Division Warri led by DPO SP Bolarinwa Alabi on the 22nd June, 2023 at about 1020 hours, was possible based on the distress call to the Police.


The armed robbers were operating along Ugborikoko/Giwa-Amu –Airport Road Warri, Delta State with unregistered black Toyota Corolla car. When the armed robbers sighted the Police advancing towards them, opened fire at the Police and the Police team responded and gun duel ensued between the Police and the hoodlums and in the process, three of the hoodlums were fatally injured while other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries. The suspected armed robbers could not however make it as they gave up the ghost on their way to the hospital.

Following few days torrential rains in Warri and its environs, Isibovbe Primary School in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of the state, is flooded with water as many of the pupils swam in the flood into their classrooms. Speaking to Bailout Magazine, the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs. Grey –Areben Gladys said, it has not been the case before now saying, this one was worse that than the ones the school has ever experienced in recent times. She said, this flood has really prevented the pupils to have access to their classrooms and come out to play during long break.


She said:” It has never been like this before, many of the learners swam through the water into their classrooms and could not come outside because everywhere was flooded”.

According to her, this flood may have been occasioned by part of the school fence that caved- in that made the whole water in the area to enter the school premises saying, even with caved -in fence, the school has not experienced this phenomenon. According to her, it was also possible that people in the area channeled their water towards the school premises.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated Editor of Vanguard Media Limited, Mr. Eze Anaba, on his election as President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE).


Anaba was elected at the 2023 National Biennial Convention of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), holding in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

He succeeded Mr. Mustapha Isah of the Silverbird Group, whose tenure just ended. Anaba polled 250 votes to defeat his only opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi, formerly of Thisday Newspapers, who scored 81 votes.

In a statement by Governor Oborevwori’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Oborevwori congratulated Mr. Anaba for a well-deserved victory, adding that, with his contributions to the Guild as Social and Publicity Secretary, he was destined to clinch the coveted seat.

One Innocent Piccolo Ighoyota Ojokor was reportedly arrested by the Police over an alleged 2023 election issues. The suspect was said to have been arrested on Saturday June 10 in Mosogar Community, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State and subsequently transferred to the Force Headquarters on Sunday June 11.


At the time of filing this report, it was not clear if Chief Jerry Wilson Omene engineered the suspect’s arrest by the Police.

However, it was gathered from an indigene of Mosogar Community, Voltage Gbagbanor via his Facebook timeline that the suspect was arrested for lies fabricated against him just as he(Voltage Gbagbanor) absolved him(Ojokor) of any wrong doing.

Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), Moni Pulo among other security organizations have received awards recently for their outstanding performances as security firms in the country in recent times. Specifically, Tantita has outstanding achievement in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region. The awardees were said to be of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurunn of the year, 2023 organized by the African Child Foundation.


The programme which took place in University’s campus in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, also saw the presentation of scholarship awards to six students of the university.

In his address, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s Chief, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe expressed delight for the award, saying, it will spur him to serve the nation better in this regard. He promised to assist the university in sustaining its world-class standard saying, the Commission will always grant opportunities to further sharpen and develop students’ capabilities.

The people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State have called on the state government to site meaning projects in their land along Airport Road upon which Delta State Revenue office is built or quit the land.


The people stated this on Thursday when they embarked on the mass protest along Airport Road, Warri. The protesters who carried placards with different inscriptions: “Okere- Urhobo people are peace loving but we are not stupid”, “Stop using our hungry brothers to sell their future and that of their children” , Okowa has served Delta State well, land grabbers should not drag his name into the mud” ,”Land grabbing is a crime”, among others ,said they can no longer tolerate this act of government any longer.

Speaking to newsmen, the former President of Okere –Urhobo youth Community, Warri, Comrade Festus Ofesiri Igherebue said the land in question has been like this for so many years now saying, the land was earlier acquired by the defund Bendel State under the leadership of Governor Ogbemudia to site Bendel Specialist Hospital saying,after Ogbemudia’s administration, the place has been there for many years.
