This is fraud: NNPC GMD must offer scholarship to Okafor the way they offered Al-Amin

Few days ago, social media was ablaze with the celebration of Tochukwu Okafor who carted away EVERY award in Engineering from UNIBEN namely:

Best Graduating Student, University of Benin. — Dean’s Prize to the Best Graduating Student in academic performance, Faculty of Engineering.‎ ‎— Department Prize to the Best Graduating Student, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. — Nigerian Society of Engineers Prize to the Best Overall Graduating Student in the Faculty of Engineering. — Arch. Aminu Abubakar Prize to the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. ‎— Nicholas and Victoria Osifo Memorial Scholarship to the Best Graduating Student in Engineering.

He graduated with a stunning 4.95CGPA in almighty Engineering. He’s a Nigerian.

Days after, Al-amin Bugaje from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU) was named overall best student with 4.93 CGPA from Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering.

He was IMMEDIATELY offered scholarship up to PhD, by the GMD of NNPC, Mr Maikantu Baru in any university of his choice in the world. He’s also a Nigerian.

Yet Tochukwu who graduated with a higher CGPA was ignored by the GMD. Both of them graduated in Electrical Engineering, so it can't be said that one merits it than the other.

The money that will be used to send Al-Amin to the best university in the world will not come from the GMD private purse but NNPC. It is fraudulent and corrupt to send one graduate abroad while leaving the one with higher CGPA to remain with only B.Eng. It is totally unacceptable. It is unNigerian.

I call on Nigerians to trend and see that justice is done to Tochukwu by NNPC as done to Al-Amin. No one is a second class citizen in Nigeria even though a fulani man may be the one on the seat of power and another fulani man is NNPC boss.

What is good for Al-Amin is good for Tochukwu.

Na beg I dey beg una. Let us trend this till it gets everywhere and Tochukwu gets his dues.

Your friend is lucky, people are praying for a child and he's blessed with five
Notyourtype:
Hello Guys,

Is it even possible to have up to six kids without having a male child?

I have a friend, who wanted to have only 4 kids. He's now counting six and will count more because he has refused to have a male child.

When the wife gave birth to the fifth child, then my friend was very anxious to having a male child. But as soon as the news got to him that his wife gave birth to another female child, he send a message to his wife at the hospital not to come to his house with the child. He said his wife has a curse on her, that is why she refused to give birth to a male child. We had to beg him before he allowed his wife home.

The issure now is that his wife just gave birth to the sixth child again today, and another female child. He his just very confused right now.

He just told me now that people says the fault his not from her wife but rather on his side. And he want me to help him on what the problem is.

Pls nlanders, what do you think is the problem, and how can he give birth to a male child?
Crime / ₦2 Billion Tramadol: Ukatu Afamefuna Mallinson Sues NDLEA, Demands ₦200m by Samotology(m): 2:10pm On May 11, 2022
A businessman, Ukatu Afamefuna Mallinson, has filed a fundamental rights suit asking the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to order the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to release him “forthwith” and “unconditionally” or upon such terms as the court may deem fit.

Ukatu is the Managing Director of Mallinson & Partners Ltd, whom the NDLEA alleged imported two containers containing 1,284 cartons of Tramadol worth N22billion in 2019 and also claimed was behind a N3 billion shipment of Tramadol linked to the disgraced police chief, Abba Kyari.

But Ukatu, asides protesting his innocence, also averred that the NDLEA not only failed to arraign him in court, despite there being a Federal High Court within a 40km radius of where he is being held, but had also failed to grant him administrative bail since his arrest on April 13, 2022.

He prayed the court to declare that his arrest by the NDLEA on April 13, at the Murtala Muhammed local Airport Terminal, Ikeja, Lagos, and continued detention in its cell at the NDLEA office at NAHCO Compound, International Airport Road, was “without reasonable cause or upon reasonable suspicion” of a crime,” and violates his fundamental rights.

He further prayed for an order of Perpetual Injunction restraining the NDLEA from “re-arresting, further re-detaining, further re-incarcerating” him contrary to his fundamental rights to liberty and freedom as enshrined in Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) among other laws.

The applicant made the prayers in his originating summons in Suit FHC/L/CS/796/2022 before Justice Nicholas Oweibo, filed by his counsel Victor Opara, SAN, of Victor Opara’s Chambers.

In the alternative, the businessman prayed for an order admitting him to bail on the most liberal terms pending the conclusion of NDLEA’s investigation and/or his arraignment.

He further sought an order directing the NDLEA to tender a public apology to him for the “unlawful arrest and unlawful detention” to be published in three national newspapers to wit: Punch, The Nation, Vanguard.

The applicant further prayed for an order directing the NDLEA to pay him, N200million as damages for unlawful arrest and unlawful detention.

The court is yet to fix a date for hearing of the application.

Crime / N3 Billion Tramadol And The Frenzy Of The Media Mob by Samotology(m): 11:37am On Apr 26, 2022
N3 billion tramadol and the frenzy of the media mob
Yesterday, the media was abuzz with the news that the 'billionnaire drug baron' associated with the drug case of the suspended deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, had been arrested.
The source of the news was the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA's spokesman had published a release with the headline: 'NDLEA arrests drug baron behind N3billion Tramadol linked to Abba Kyaris team’.
Following that, the media - online and electronic went into a frenzy which could hardly be topped if the head of Boko Haram were captured alive and one half of Nigeria retrieved from him.
Babafemi named the 'billionnaire drug baron' as Afam Mallinson Emmanuel Ukatu. Practically every medium with online presence followed the Babafemi narrative and named Ukatu a 'billionnaire drug baron'.
I read through to see if the fellow had been convicted on drug charges before, but there was no such reference. So, how come the fellow is a 'billionnaire drug baron', instead of drug suspect? In Nigeria and other civilized places one is innocent until pronounced guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. Journalism schools teach this. One may not expect such finesse from the media rabble - namibidis.com and the likes - but even a well-established and respected medium like Punch ran the Babafemi headline raw. Maybe, Babafemi and his employers have become courts of competent jurisdiction.
Make no mistake about it, if Ukatu has broken the law, he should pay for it as stipulated by the law. But until then, he remains a suspect. This conviction by the NDLEA and the media gaggle is unfair. Even the devil deserves his dues.
Besides this, there are other pertinent questions the reportage failed to answer. Is the importation and sale of tramadol in Nigeria really banned? Babafemi should have referenced the edict banning it. Media reporting should have echoed it to be convincing. A quick search showed me that tramadol came into the US market as a pain reliever in 1995, but in August 2014, the appropriate authorities reclassified it as a 'controlled' substance, meaning that its handling requires authorization (not that it has become an illegal drug).
Specifically on Nigeria, my quick internet search said: 'Under a 2018 Nigerian government policy, Tramadol is a restricted pharmaceutical product used to treat severe pain, and can be administered only through prescription by medical professionals'.
Babafemi and the reporting media should have provided us the relevant legal basis and very importantly, given information that Ukatu breached it, if he did. Instead, it has been the rush of the mob, where mouse clicks rule and reward. Perhaps, providing this information would detract from the sexiness of Babafemi's story.
Rather, Babafemi was reported saying that Ukatu owns some pharmaceutical and manufacturing concerns which he uses as 'cover for the importation of illicit drugs'. Isn't that a very low cut? Isn't that going too far, judging and editorializing?
If Ukatu owns a pharmaceutical company, then that creates the possibility that his company may have a basis to handle tramadol. The courts will tell us.
By the way, I never read in any of the reports the voice of anybody from Ukatu's side. Pulse.ng (which together with others called the suspect a 'billonaire drug baron') did a deep background work and said Ukatu employs some 2,000 Nigerians. Yet, it couldn't reach a single one of them to talk on the matter. From its report, Ukatu is not a pharmacist. Therefore, he must have hired somebody to head his pharmaceutical company. How come this fellow was not interviewed for the story? No report indicated any attempt to reach this man. I was taught that fairness is one of the cardinal principles of reporting. How come Ukatu was denied this?
Again, I say if Ukatu has breached the law, let a court of competent jurisdiction pronounce his guilty and let him face the penalty. But until then, he must be held as innocent until proven otherwise as the law states.
It's Ukatu's turn today. Who's turn will it be tomorrow? Did I hear you say it could never be you? Then, hear this:
As a student reporter in the early 1980s, I went to report proceedings at the magistrate court, Iwaya, in Lagos. In one of the cases that came up, a bulky middle-aged man was accused of trafficking in cocaine, which carried a death sentence. When the charges were read, the man was In shock. He said he couldn't understand the charge; that he was walking on Okesuna Street Shomolu when a policeman grabbed and arrested him. He said he had lived in Germany for over 20 years and had just returned for the first time.
The prosecuting policeman tried to shout him down, but the magistrate overruled and proceeded to tell the court his own story.
Magistrate said a man was charged with armed robbery in his court (with death penalty). It later unfolded that an armed robbery suspect had 'escaped' from police detention. The policeman under whose watch the suspect escaped, just went out into the street, clubbed down the first man he saw and used him to replace the escaped suspect.
That could have been me or you.
If it turns out that somehow this Ukatu case is not as sexy as presented, many people, personal and corporate, shall be liable for massive defamation.

[b]MALLINSON UKATU: INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

The general public has been advised to discard news circulating around the arrest of Sir Mallinson Afam Ukatu, a respected businessman and one of Nigeria’s foremost industrialists. ANAMBRA PEOPLE learnt from one of his close allies and business partner that Sir Mallinson Ukatu will come out from this controversy unscathed. He frowned at the way the media has jumped into the news as if investigations have been concluded on the matter or as if a court of competent jurisdiction has given its verdict on the case.

According to the close ally who does not want his name mentioned, he stated that Sir Ukatu has done business for years with integrity and has branched into a lot of business lines including pharmaceuticals, “most pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria still have license to import Tramadol which is used to treat certain disease condition under the supervision of the appropriate authorities, so it is left for the authorities involved to conduct thorough investigations with a view to unraveling whether he followed due process in conducting his business and not this media trial”, he said.

He further stated that the fact that NDLEA arrested him does not in any way suggest that the respected Igbo businessman has committed any crime, “NDLEA has before arrested prominent Nigerians; EFCC too has investigated prominent Nigerians and at the end of the day, the innocent ones were vindicated and allowed to go about their normal businesses”. He further stated that Sir Mallinson Ukatu is a respected businessman who has been in business for 30 years and has invested in almost all the major cities in the country. This is a man who has in his employ over 2,000 workers and they owe their daily bread to him. He is equally one of the major contributors to the development of Lagos and Ogun State economy and has continued to quietly make impact in the lives of many through his foundation.

Speaking further, he advised that it is not good that people who have made this kind of huge contributions to the society be subjected to this kind of media trial because it will have adverse effect on them and their brands and even their dependents.

He advised Journalists on the need to investigate news properly or wait for appropriate authorities to conclude investigation before publicizing news of this type to save innocent people from embarrassment. He wondered why majority of Igbo businessmen who have no affiliation to government are being targeted in the recent onslaught by NDLEA and EFCC and expressed concern that this might have connection with 2023 election and clamour for Igbo presidency, saying that this might be an attempt to clampdown on liquid Igbo guys who are seen as major financiers in the coming election.

You could start going to the farm to buy eggs and sell.
You could start by buying empty crates like 100 crates for #15,000 and after that, you buy 100 crates of eggs for like #85,000 depending on the size. Then you could transport it to your location as low as #50 per crate, depending on your location. Bet me, you could realise #10,000 profit after selling. Don't forget, the more crates you buy, the more profit you get. Go to people around your area and reduce #50 from what they used to buy, before you know, you will be running out of stock.

Education / Re: Shettima Of Borno Orders Demolition Of Schools Renovated By Federal Govt by Samotology(m): 9:19am On Nov 03, 2013
[quote author=Emyo]Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has yesterday ordered the Commissioner for the Universal Education Board (UBE), Professor Abba Tijjani to immediately demolish all the classroom blocks burnt down by Boko Haram insurgents which were later renovated by the federal government in Abbaganaram primary and junior secondary schools, saying that the renovated structures were executed poorly, which according to him, is not accepted by his present government.

Shettima gave the directive when he visited Abbaganaram primary and junior secondary schools where he officially launched the distribution of free exercise books, uniforms and other instructional materials to all primary and post primary schools across the state.

“Honestly, those who were given the contract for renovation of these classroom blocks by the federal government assisted programme did a shady job, and we will not allow our students to continue using such structures, because apart from not conducive for learning, the structures have no ventilation.

“We will release money immediately to demolish and reconstruct new classroom blocks in this school fitted with security lights, fans and other facilities that will make the students feel comfortable when learning”. Shettima stated.

The governor who also took time and went round the classrooms felt impressed with the turn out of pupils and therefore directed the rector, Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, Professor, Babagana Umara to supply the school with 2000 furniture out of those provided to the institution.

While taking the governor round the classrooms to see the turnout of students in the school which was closed for almost a year after it was attacked and razed down two times by Boko Haram insurgents, the Commissioner for Universal Basic Education (Board), Professor Abba Tijjani told the governor that since the burning down of school classroom blocks by terrorists which was estimated at over 800 Blocks of Classrooms, the federal government only assisted the ministry with N100 million as intervention fund which was used in renovating some of the schools affected, and thanked the state government for giving approval which led to the total renovation/reconstruction of all the schools affected by the crisis.

Briefing the governor on the problem affecting the schools, the Principal Mallam Suleiman Kashim said, apart from lack of borehole which will provide drinking water to students, furnitur and teaching materials, the school premises is dominated by grasses and waste disposal following its long closure which he said, is not hygienic to the health of the students and staff.

Education / Re: Thread For Accounting Students by Samotology(m): 12:36pm On Aug 29, 2013
Accouting rule is that: debit all '' Assets & Expenses'', and credit '' Income & Liabilitie. Since salarie and wages is on d credit side, d 1st thing to do is to check if d debit and credit side of d trial balance balances, if no, check d difference and find out if it did equates with figure of d wages and salaries, then u should know it is an error. But if yes meaning it balanced, it should be assumed that the salarie and wages is received, meaning it should be an income which is 100% possible, what it implies is that d company has used its personel to render services to another entity which in turn has paid salaries and wages to the company, as such it could appear on d credit side of d trial balance. The company could be an out sourcing company that employs personels and send them to another company to work ( eg, banking jobs, security jobs ), the personels dont receive their salaries from where they work but from d company which out sourced them, the company in turn pays d employees. Lets take a good look at FEDEX staff working in UBA plc mailing room, UBA pays salaries and wages to FEDEX, as such u will find it(salaries and wages) on the credit side of FEDEX trial balance which signifies income, while in UBA plc, it (salaries and wages) will be on the debit side of their trial balance, which has satisfy d golden rule of account (every debit entry ( UBA) must have a corresponding credit entry ( FEDEX).
