That is a society that works, here suspects are killed on the spot but I can bet because he's oyinbo he could walk free, or if he's not a citizen he could be returned to his home country to face the law there

Hi guys update on my visa (family visa) we were to go for my sisters wedding on the 26th of August.

Did biometrics 21st of July
escalation August 15th and on and on for where no answer.
Got mail that decision was made 23rd of October, got mail for pick up later same day
I was scared to go pick up, so waited 3 days until my heart is strong enough
i went and i got my visa 2years! it was issued 19th of oct.

my mum was also given 2years, but my bro was denied.

i noticed my visa issuer is UKVI,
so i'm thinking those of us that were delayed were being processed in UK? not sure sha just a guess.

omo when i got there i saw that the passports being returned were in a black nylon pack, only i and a guy was in a DHL bag. Afraid catch me die, i was thinking ah this people don refuse me , mumu me was looking for refusal letter instead of looking for visa in passport.
it was later my brain clicked that babe check your passport first na.
Omo see joy and gladness.

Thanks to everybody that has been contributing to this forum, it gave me hope and patients.

And oh we did miss my sisters wedding, very sad, i cried on that day sha. as in after all the preparation i did for her, asoebi , her cloths, soveniers etc i was not there to witness her get married. my mum cried wella.

its all good as i will look for cheap ticket to visit her soonext.

anyone with idea of where to get cheap ticket pls hola.

Am I the only one who doesn't really understand these people's problem

My dear the bill should not be stopped but people should sek for amendments if they find issue with it.

Nigeria needs its NGO's to be regulated for so many reasons especially terrorism and fraud.

its churches that are mostly campaigning for the stoppage of this bill.

as far as i am concern the ngo bill must go on.

I have been in observer mode for only two months and I must say this is the most frustrating process I have ever encountered.

The sense of helplessness and nothing can be done.

I invited my parents for my wedding in mid August and the sent in their applications on the 26th of July. (We thought the process will take a couple of weeks as quoted on their website).

As it got closer to the wedding date, after 15 working days, I called and I was told their application has been escalated. I called again after 15 working days after the escalation and still nothing had happened. Instead the person, I was speaking to was trying to play around with dates and numbers. There were a few more escalation to the blackhole that is the home office and still nothing. To cut the story short my parents never made it to my wedding. I never got any calls or emails, I always checked my voicemails(I was told they leave a voicemail if they can't get hold of you)

A few other family members applied after my parents and all got their visa [Europe and Ghana]. For my Father in law, he applied late so I had to use the 5day decision(basically more money) and he got his visa and made it for the wedding.

I still decided to follow this up and called the UKVI again...still nothing and then I came to the realisation, that the support team are just an empty shell entity to distract from the actual team the processes the visa. he

I am aware that each application is unique but my wife and I used pretty much the same paper work for all our invitees.

1)They can't seem to chase up old escalations, but only create new ones.
2)They don't seem to have any info on anything other than the info on tls webpage.
3)The expense in contacting them via email or phone especially when one doesn't get anything useful from them.

I called them yet again early this week. The person I spoke to said he has been receiving a lot of calls from Ghana and Nigeria with everyone in a similar situation . He talked about escalation yet again

I am now on I think about 50 working days, basically another couple of weeks and we should be hitting 60working days since my parents made their application

So it begs the question , what exactly is going on in the home office ? and why are there so many delays
This seems to be unique to Nigeria, I haven't ever seem a visa process that takes this much time. At most it is 2 weeks for most places.

Are they overwhelmed or short staffed ? which I seriously doubt the summer hols are over and every one is back to work

Basically it seems they seen to want people to spend more money using the faster process which isn't right.

Good luck every one with your applications.

Same shoes with us ..... sisters wedding 26th of August. Applied 21st July. Sister called, emailed for escalation for where same story.
They should sha return person passport .
It's very heartless of them to make people miss important events.

i think this unnecessary visa delay thing and holding on to passport by the UKVI should be reported to the ministry of foreign affairs so they can address the issue. or at least give explanation.
the one that one pays for phone calls and email and still nothing is done seems to me as a fraud or belittling people.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum. Pls I need to know about this Uk new documents scanning process, I read on TLScontact that all documents must be presented in A4 size copies, Do I have to make photocopies of each documents? Pls anyone with better understanding of this new procedure should kindly throw more light. Thanks.

Make A4 copy of any document or photo you are submitting.
you DO NOT need to make copy of any other document.
all originals will be scanned and returned immediately in your presence.

I repeat you do not need to make copy of any document except documents not in A4.

reason is the scanning machine scans all document together.

@Sandraa, Gtb have recently lifted the restrictions on international transactions so I'm sure everyone can now pay with their gtb naira master or visa debit cards.

exchange rate is 375 for 1dollar.

calculate 455 x 375 = 170,625
or 120 x 375 = 45000

but whatever works for anyone dear!

Kpele, I went thru this same stress but relax. I eventually used paga cos all the people that tried helping me with dollar cards were having difficulty. I called the paga customer care and upgraded my account by scanning some documents to them (proof of location, BVN and some other security questions) and I conveniently made payment. It's a safe way to make payment if you don't have a dollar account. Just keep calling their support line.

All the best.

Guys i finally got to pay via paga.
so for anyone who wants to use paga ..... here is what i did.... my little contribution to help others with paga payment.

1. i registered online
2. sent a mail to upgrade to kyc3 ....... i had to call for reminders... within 2 days i was upgraded.
3. i used the old uk online application ... the one with fco.....
4. visa fee for 2years is now 455dollars....... in naira i paid 158,794.91 via paga
5. visa fee for 6months is now 120 dollars ....... in naira i paid 41,879.98. via paga

Thank you guys for your help in trying to pay.

so sorry @yispa, its the guy in the gtb bank that gave me the wrong information.
i went back in today to blast him. i also received the email today too.
please do not be offended with my response.

and you are very correct about the charge being @ 375 per 1$

ekpotek:

Exact cost? Check on the TLS website for that
What exactly is being paid for? Nothing. That is their policy and can be review at any time.
Is it paid per person? Yes
Diferrences? Yes. The queue will be fewer at VI, submission can be completed within 15 minutes, beside you easily get an appoinment date to submit at VI. At Ikeja the place is like a crowd!!

Somebody was just telling me UK charges 20dollars extra.... Abeg those of my peeps that used Ikea is there anything like that? Aside visa fee you pay extra

@Sandraa,
I learn't GTB has increased their monthly limit on debit Naira Mastercard from $100 to $1000 monthly, effective from 10th of July. It means you can pay for your visa with GTB Naira Mastercard. Mind you someone told me he transacted yesterday and was charged N375/$1

This information is not correct. I went to gtb today to ask their foreign exchange desk.
I don't know where this info came from. I did not get any mail from gtb as I use their bank..... or the guy working there does not know no
