zheroes:

unfortunately, nobody fights for no one in this country CAVE of ours.

MY ADVICE TO ALL: AVOID ANY MILITARY PERSONEL, especially the soldiers because God may not deliver you that day. this is not the first time this is happening and it wont be the last because NOTHING is ever done about it, even if the lady had died nothing would have happened.

True talk man. Best of the best advice.
Politics / Re: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by santavista: 9:16am On Nov 10, 2008
Why una dey worry Gamine nw? She has a right to her views. Ogboraph, Heads and Megadeath should also be allowed to voice their take on the issue without being so insulted and abused. Tolerance is the problem in this country. Arogundade erred because he was intolerant. We d people and judges are also guilty of same charge battering others because their views differ from ours. Remember 'ikan ti o ba wun anybodi ni won le fenu won so'.

It is also amazing that someone would proffer mob justice towards Layo Arogundade. What makes such a person different from the bodydogs that beat  up Uzoma? People have said many things without checking themselves or purging themselves first. How many of us would be in Aro's exalted position and would willingly drop all the farce, charade, pomp and paraphernalia associated with the position?

We all claim we are equals. Yes all humans were made equal by God and before the law too we are all equals. But in achievements we differ. There must be hierachy and stratification. Some will be highly placed than the others. Some are to be more respected than the others. The bodydogs, ratings or rantings attached to Madmiral Aro have a head just like their oga but unfortunately the assignments differ. That is why the bible said 'study to show thyself approved'. Education is key to attain an enviable height in all societies.

Some sensitive positions must come with a high level of security because of possible assasination attempts. Nigeria is still a pretty unsafe country. Sincerely I have no bias against them blaring their useless siren nor do I have issues with them moving in a motor train.

This saga calls for sober reflection within our nuclear units, that is homes, work and office. How do we treat our subordinates? How do we treat our househelps, stewards, drivers, gardeners etc? Let us all for once leave Aro to his problem, he has entered d shit big time. Lady Uzoma is lucky at least her Pa is a big boi she has sued for damages(if she wins will be settled with tax payers money). Thus their own case is getting at par. Who will advocate for Rasheed the driver? who will advocate for Luku the steward? Will Fashola raise an eyebrow for Ifabunmi the daily battered housegal? Would this case bring victory for the innocent danfo driver and okada men who get daily bashing and sometimes pass away leaving widows and children behind? Or is it really a war between the 'Rich'. Irrespective of the answers to my questions, we have lessons to learn, not just the navy nor military but the entire Nigerian populace. This is what can bring the much desired change to our polity.

Fear cannot be erased until poverty is reduced to the minimum. Crime would reduce drastically and the unjust treatment meted out daily on our roads will reduce because the bullion vans will drive with more caution and less aggression. The supposed leaders would have no excuse to make noise with sirens and jump traffic. More choices would be made by young men as regards jobs.

In conclusion the lady too might have insulted the big Oga which in our tradition is wrong because we were taught to respect our leaders and elders but the Oga erred when he was not wise enough to know that his position comes with enough discipline to tolerate all sorts of people. A little more patience would have saved him from this mess. Also if he had stepped out of his seat and cautioned his boys to stop the battering on the lady and at least had a word with her he would have been partially exonerated or absolved from the wrongdoings.

Please do not miss understand my views, all I am saying is Arogundade is guilty more guilty than his thugs but most of us are as culpable and blameworthy as he is.

Her bravery is commendable this i ve reiterated ova nd ova. I ve advocated dat d madmiral b made to face d music [pg 6] 4 being in d know how nd did nothin to caution his dogs or thugs.
I only went further to analyse d situatn 4rm anoda perspective.
I believe change will come when dis saga ends.

I totally condemn d injustice meted out to this lady bt d bible says wisdom is profitable to direct. If w all are to emphasize our rights lives will b lost daily. D media remains our weapon to fight dis ill nt physical strength nor achieved might

Part 2
Nevertheless nd irrespective of my aforementioned points above i dove my hat for d bravery displayed by d lady. Silence ova dese anomalies does nt make dem right. Someone nds 2 stop it nd w ar nt far frm d end of such uncivil abuse. Sacrifice does nt cum cheap nd it takes guts. Hw on earth would anyone or group of people lay a finger on a woman in dis age nd tym. A sad incident nd poor publicity for our dear country. My cause or sympathy is nt for d lady bt for dose voices silenced tru a similar case without compensatn
After dis saga 'they' will all b affected includin her Pa.
Finally i seek dat w stop makin comparisms with USA nd d likes. Nigeria can set d standard 4 d world. Wat is wrong is wrong irrespective of proofs dat it is practised elsewhere.

Politics / Re: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by santavista: 10:49am On Nov 09, 2008
Reading tru pages 8 nd 9, d defence put up in support of d NN action i developed mixed feelings. For nd against.
I havent seen d clips bt i have conjured a mental picture frm posts on dis thread.
My first point is was it wise 4 her to disobey dese senseless uneducated men? Was her attitude due to an innate disdain for wrong use of power by Oga nd his bois or she stood up 2 dem vainly because her Pa is also one of d hegoats milkin dis country dry nd she believes no one will defile her nd go free?
To answer my first question i will say it was unwise of her to have measured up 2 dese guys. Many have lost their lives becos of sheer stubborness nd self ego. Some tins are better left to pass irrespective of our status. Moreso w ar all privy to d unruly nd unassuming manners of our politicians, military men nd leaders.
Secondly it will b a poor struggle if she acted solely becos she is a daughter of somebody. What if it was Basira or Shukura or Belema? Would d senate nd d entire polity respond wit same alacrity?
Politics / Re: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by santavista: 8:05pm On Nov 07, 2008
I saw dis gist as a headline in d punch 2day 4 d first tym. D ratings or bodydogs who executed such barbaric act acted solely as zombies discharging their duties as instructed by their supreme supposed 'celestial' head. Thus d entity who is principal nd responsible is d 'madmiral'. He must b stripped of all he has achieved till date as a lesson to all of us who easily 4get dat we were once in a dunghill. Imagine if dis lady was his daughter? Wicked pple abound in human skin. Baba buruku
Nairaland / General / Re: My Conscience Will Not Let Me Be: Pls Help! by santavista: 3:55pm On Oct 31, 2008
Wat wrong have you done?
Someone walks up to you and snatches your bag and he got an instant reward and you feel guilt for not helping him up to his feet? In absolute sincerity you have even acted lenient.
If it were in the typical 9ja inlands or squatter/slum settlements, he would have been lynched for his misdemeanor despite his predicament.
It is right to help people irrespective of their crime but it is not a sin too if you don't.
Nevertheless keep the good heart, but eschew all forms of bitterness and guilt.
I hereby declare you exonerated from any conscience related crime. smiley

@ Poster,
Nice work and piece.

I deeply cherish to meet Megalyn someday. I was ecstatic and euphoric the day i found out she was Nigerian while reading up gists on the 4400 series. Totally inlove with her. Damn beautiful in '4400' as Isabelle. Never knew she was would be President Palmers daughter in '24'.
TV/Movies / Re: Big Brother Africa III (3): Official Thread by santavista: 3:33pm On Oct 24, 2008
BBA 3 is undoubtedly a failure and bore this year and season.

This is a line for Big Brother for next edition: Kindly change tactics. Bring in more interesting stunts. Let the show be attached with the panache and fanfare we have known it to have instead of the present parade and charade of farce. Else only ur crew and i mean ur crew will be your next audience and viewers.

The remaining housemates (especially the above listed 5 by Blu Mallam) are terribly sickening and appalling to behold with my naked eyes. No game at all.

These boys are models to emulate. This is the first of its kind on Nigeria. Anything can flop. Force Majeur can occur. They have won my heart with this display of exceptional character, honesty and maturity.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: AIT (Daarsat) + Visafone Partnering for Satelite and Internet by santavista: 9:14am On Oct 08, 2008
I believe this is a welcome development if properly solidified and sincerely delivered.

My Question: Is the LCD TV a part of the 40k package? Or is it an option to be paid for separately? I have colleagues who are extremely excited about the offer already. The only limitation is that the group(DAAR) is not being very explicit with information regarding the new product. The group's website is void of useful information. For me this is a turn off at this crucial stage when the launch has already taken place.

Shamas hope you can come to our aid on this and also answer the Internet bundle pre-raised questions.

I forsee a better Nigeria.

Politics / Re: SSS Invades Channels Tv by santavista: 8:27am On Sep 18, 2008
Channels is paying a price for being pro-active

whoever shut down the station is being overzealous in his/her assignment and I concur that it might not be Yaradull's idea but he must have granted the closure

As per verifying the news, I guess that was unnecessary. The source that gave the news NAN is credible enough. Even AFP relayed the same news before Channels TV. Why not lock up NAN? Thus the only verification outstanding was to call Yaradull himself because even his press secretary wouldnt have been of help

Lets call a spade a spade, this government is insensitive. If Channels TV is as respected in Nigeria as the CNN is respected in USA/UK the worst case scenario is to sanction them or charge them to court. Fair hearing is paramount. The closure is barbaric and injurious to the image of this struggling nation.

This is to cause and stir fear in the Nigeria media. A pity case. Bad advisers will lead to Bad governance.
Romance / Re: Would You Want To Be Kissed On Your First Date? by santavista: 9:23am On Sep 15, 2008
@ all throwing jabs at salopwa,

let the brodaman be. He has a right to his choice of words and manner of address on matters relating to him and his babe. Raise comments and queries but not insults.

@ Poster,
na dat one sweet pass. If the date was sweet, successful and romantic why not. Kiss him. But as the gal be the first to stop. And it is always better it does not go beyond the kiss. Afterwards ensure you give him a tough time before you yield to any physical/sexual display again. That way he would not brag about the sudden kiss. wink
Romance / Re: Seriously Considering Remaining Single All My Life! by santavista: 9:10am On Sep 15, 2008
librangyps:

3 YEARS NOW, AND THE PROBLEM WITH HIM IS THAT HE IS NOT OUTGOING EVEN WITH GUYS, HE IS NOT SOCIAL, I KNOW NOT EVERYONE IS BUT HE IS TRYING TO IMPOSE THESE CHARACTERS IN ME, BUT THATS NOT WHAT IM MADE OF AT ALL, IM BONNY, HAPPY, AND FUN GIRL, BUT HE IS TRYING TO TURN ME INTO THIS, DODDLING WAIF, HE IS OBSESSIVE AND I MEAN EXTREMELY OBSESSIVE AND POSSESIVE OF ME, AT FIRST I WAS FLATTERED HE LOVED ME SO MUCH, BUT THEN IT BECAME SUFFOCATING AND I FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO BREATH, ON COUNTLESS OCCAIONS I TRIED TALKING WITH HIM, NOT NAGGING OR QUARELLING BUT TRYING TO MAKE HIM UNDERSTAND IM NOT ENJOYING MYSELF IN THIS RELATIONSHIP, BUT INSTEAD OF HIM TO LISTEN AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IM FEELING, HE IS ALWAYS ON THE DEFENSIVE,

AND WHEN I TRY TO TELL HIM I NEEDED SOME SPACE, THAT HE WAS CROWDING ME TOO MUCH , HE WOULD SAY I WANT TO BE LIKE OTHER GIRLS THAT ARE FREE AND LOOSE ON THE STREETS, REALLY SICKENING,

HE GETS IN THE WAY OF EVERYTHING I DO, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING,

You HAVE TO BE IN MY SHOES TO REALLY KNOW, NOT THAT I WISH THIS ON ANYONE,

I USED TO BE THE ONE MY GIRLFRIENDS COME TO FOR ADVICE ON THEIR RELATIONSHIPS, I WAS ALWAYS THE STRONG MINDED ONE, ALWAYS THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN THINKING STRAIGHT, HOW I GOT HERE NOW BAFFLES ME AND MY FRIENDS ALSO,

I am quite impressed at your sincerity and honesty.

But the truth be told, you are the problem. This is a prevalent case nowadays. Women get tired of the relationship easily because the guy over loves them and shows a lot of concern thus termed and dubbed over protective. Especially if he is the first.

Then what do women want? You are too social its bad. You are a womaniser its a bad thing. You are faithful a problem too. You dont call often, they say you do not care. You start to call often and they say you are suspecting them or you dont trust them anymore.

Poster you cant eat your cake and have it. I will advice you walk out of the relationship because it would never work. But believe me good men like your present guy are hard to come by. You want to gyrate and rock the world abi? then why allow the relationship last this long? I guess you just discovered your personality and you believe it is time to flaunt it. Get adventurous, be compliant with the social world. hmmmmm

You have suceeded in using this guy. I totally disagree with him believing he owns you to himself but we need to compromise here and there to make things work. You can socialise him to a moderate level. Be open to him if your intentions are right. But i guess you do not love him anymore, that is if you really did before.

Men this is an eye opener. Many of us believe that we have the sole rights to a gal because we disvirgined her or her first love. Kindly note that all of that is history now. Only a meagre percentage of relationships that start that way truly have love existing till marriage. Those kind of gals are more hardened and unrepentant than the so called bad gals because they believe they have not had a fair share of the gyrating world. Thus playing around and using you the guy as a support to fall back to. And they are hard to catch.

Many touching cases.

My advise to men is to allow any gal that exhibits these traits to have her way. No need holding her back because you will wreck more havoc on yourself. I know it is hard to digest but its the truth. The days of my love, my darling, my all in all, Olowo ori mi and the likes are over. She don mature grin. Do not say you paid for her school fees and feed her family. To her all that is trash. Anything can happen and they have been happening.

And to the poster and related cases kindly thread with caution. All these things dey tire person oooo. No too spoil ground. someday you will re-crave for a man to show an iota of love or care.

what is all d insult about sef?

Dududavies replied more sensibly to Promise72's post but not Gasbi2.

What is unheard off in Promise's post? We should stop behaving like babies. Most of us passed thru the Nigerian University system and you and I will concur that his phrase is honestly true in most cases.

It is a laughable and waivable one and not enough to warant insults such as Mother's funeral and all that nonsense bullshit.

Guy i bother less about the paragraph. I learnt new stuff frm your explanatory post.
