Business / Re: Watch Out Silicon Valley, African Tech Hubs Are On The Rise!! by Senatorkelvo(m): 10:46pm On Sep 23, 2013
Building Africa's own silicon valley might no longer be at far sight, with the emergence and crop-up of various technology hubs in various countries of Africa. This list includes nigeria's own CoCreation hub and Wennovation Hub(which the OP excluded from the list).
But my concern is that, if nigeria would take maximal advantage of this tech revolution, the mentality of having "ISOLATION HUBS"-hubs we build in our homes and laptops, should be a thing of the past. Let Nigerian web and mobile app developers, innovators, tech savvys, programmers, entrepreneurs, come out of their shells and collaborate(which is the main purpose of tech hubs) and stop being loners that would end-up developing clones of what others might have created. Also, laboring in isolation with limited resources(such as poor power supply from PHCN, limited internet bandwidth) could frustrate the success of a brilliant idea.

Finally, potential investors or sponsors(like MTN and Glo) should stop wasting huge funds on unproductive ventures like "project fame" and Glo X-factor, and channel this funds to the support of a Knowledge-driven economy that would revolutionize these tech hubs in Nigeria..

Webmasters / How To Create A Custom Calender Module In Php? by Senatorkelvo(m): 1:35pm On Aug 05, 2013
Hi friends, am currently working on a project that requires me to add a custom calender module to the home page of the website.
After trying all my effort, I seems to have no headway. I have even try to get codes online to do this for me, but they seems un-customizable to suit this project.
I wanted the calender to have a custom text inside the days of the month like the displayed foods(Rice, Yam & Egg,Beans, Tea & bread...) in a food time table in the picture bellow. pls webmasters, i need your help to complete this project. Suggesting a customizable code to do this would be of great help. thanks

Phones / Re: All DATA USERS, WAKE UP (CAMPAIGN FOR FAIRNESS) by Senatorkelvo(m): 8:51am On Jul 19, 2013
-Few days ago, i received 5 messages from MTN requesting me to subscribe for a service to receive Ramadan prayer alerts(yet am nt a Muslim).
-Also, i received series of text messages from MTN to subscribe for a service to QUIT SMOKING(Yet i dont smoke)
-I received series of text messages from MTN requesting me to subscribe to DOWNLOAD CALLER TUNES (which i dnt need)
-I received series of text messages from MTN requesting me to Visit Silver bird cinema.
I called MTN customer care and I was told it is part of the service offered to subscribers....but dis is also unfair!
I think one should be able to opt out of these unsolicited messages.
Let this same movement notify NCC of these unsolicited text messages from these network operators.

Politics / 93% Northern Girls Lack Secondary Education – Sanusi by Senatorkelvo(m): 11:23pm On May 17, 2013
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, on Thursday, decried the low literacy level in the North saying that 93 per cent of female children in the region lacked secondary education. The apex bank boss, who said this at this year’s Isaac Moghalu Foundation Leadership Lecture and Symposium held in Abuja, said the situation, if left unchecked, was detrimental to the economy.

The governor sited Jigawa State, where school completion rate among female is as low as seven per cent as an example.

Net enrolment of girls in schools in the country, according to him, is 22 per cent.

He said, “In the North-West, 70 per cent of women between 20 and 29 are unable to read, compared to 9.7 per cent in the South West.

“Only three per cent of females complete secondary education in the Northern zone. Now how do you build the country when 93 per cent of the girls in the most populous region of the country do not complete secondary schools?..Read more here..http:///42pvz

.
.
.
The indication of this overwhelming statistics is that: two out of every two girl-child in the north are not educated.
I was reading this article with a heavy-heart for the poor girl-children in the north and wondering the Nagative effects this would have on our society as these girls are dehumanised, subject to rape or sexual abuse. My question then is that: How can the right of the girl child be restored in Nigeria?
