If you are an owner of the Sprint Galaxy Note 3 and are you noticing serious call quality issues or dropped calls? If so, you are not alone.

Sprint’s own customer service forums have been flooded with complaints from new Note 3 customers in reference to “popping”, “cracking” and general call drops. We can confirm that this is only happening with the Note 3 and not other Sprint phones and that it is not isolated to a specific region of the country. The reports started coming in a few days ago.

Although this flaw makes the phone unusable … at least as a phone, it does not seem to be hardware related as VoIP calls over WiFi are clear. This would mean that a fix is likely to come from an OTA Upgrade rather than a hardware replacement. Unfortunately until a fix comes, you can forget making phone calls on your monstrous phone.

Users experiencing this issue have tested with headsets, bluetooth headsets and their speakerphone, all of which run into the same problem. The issue seems to be impacting both colors of the phone and still persists after a factory reset. Some users in Sprint’s forums are mentioning a possible recall however this has yet to be confirmed by Sprint or Samsung.

What is interesting is the problem appears to have been introduced shortly after launch as early Sprint review devices did not initially have this problem prior to the official launch.

Aside from a software flaw, it is also possible that the issue may exist on Sprint’s network, which is not known to be the most stable at this moment. There are some doubts to this theory as the issue would likely impact other phones if the issue is network facing.

Sprint is currently investigating the matter but In the mean time, outraged customers are threatening to return their phones for other models or even leaving the struggling carrier. Sprint will likely need to perform some serious damage control.

Obasanjo’s view on N5000 note not sacrosanct – Okupe


The Presidency has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s criticism of the proposed N5000 note as personal opinion.

Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, told journalists in Abuja on Friday, that Obasanjo, as an “ordinary” individual, had the freedom to speak on issues.

Obasanjo had at a forum in Lagos last Thursday, said the N5000 denomination would kill production and affect small businesses negatively.

But Okupe, a one-time spokesman for the Obasanjo presidency, said, “Obasanjo is an ordinary citizen. He has the right to speak on issues of national importance, but his views are not sacrosanct. But Obasanjo has right to his own opinion.”

The presidential aide said the Federal Government was right to approve the denomination.

He also denounced criticisms by opposition parties that the introduction of the higher denomination would lead to inflation.

Okupe, a medical doctor, turned, politician, said there was no need to argue over the issue, adding that with his interaction with experts, there was no guarantee that the new note, when introduced, would either lead to inflation or affect production.

He said, “It is a project of the Central Bank of Nigeria and it is also important to carry people along. From my investigation and discussion with experts, there is no assurance that it will lead to inflation.

“There is $1000 bill in the United States and that has not negatively affected the economy there.

“It is not carried by all Americans, but by those who need it. The N5000 note will also be like that. We should not dissipate energy on that.

“We over-politicise issues in this country. This note will not affect the cashless policy of the government as being speculated in some quarters as well.”

He also spoke on the criticisms over Jonathan’s penchant for committees, saying the President was fond of setting up committees in order not to arrogate power and knowledge to himself (Jonathan) alone.

Okupe, however, assured that the reports of all the committees and sub-committees set up by his boss in the past would be made public to Nigerians soon.

Okupe had been asked why the President set up another committee to study the recommendations of the Presidential Committee on the Re-organisation of the Nigeria Police Force.

The first committee, which was headed by an ex-Assistant General of police, Mr. Parry Osayande, had submitted its recommendations to the President penultimate Tuesday.

But a day after, the President set up a review committee, headed by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.

Before now, the President had been accused on many occasions of having the habit of setting up committees whose reports are usually not made known to the public.

In the past few months, the President has set up no fewer than 15 committees, which many political analysts say amount to waste of funds and time.

But Okupe said, “Now, the issue of committee is that, in Nigeria, we have a large population and a lot of brilliant of people.

“We must not forget that democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.

“There is no need for a President to sit down in the Villa and he and his cohort get to formulate and appropriate knowledge to themselves. The issue of committees will not stop.

“Maybe in the past, there were no actions and committee reports had been put into the background but that will not happen this time around.”

Okupe said that he only went through Jonathan’s inauguration speech on Wednesday and that he was amazed to see that the President had delivered on about 15 of his promises.

He said, “I went through the presidential broadcast on the day he was inaugurated, and I was amazed that the things he said he would do and he has done, numbered about 14 and 15.

“This is a President who says ‘I will do something’ and he has done them.”

It says, “Holy fighting is ordained (prescribed) for all muslims, whether they like it or not, as far as it is good and approved by Allah through his prophet Mohammed.”

Q: Where is it in the Qur’an that killing is also permitted by Allah?

A: Look at Surah Al-baqarah chapter 2 vs 191 “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. An Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.” Muslims are told to kill and fight in the cause of Allah.

A: Nobody could arrest me until the year 2009 soon after my immediate boss Mohammed Yusuf was killed. About 23 of us were arrested in one of our hideouts in Bauchi. But when Governor Isa Yagiuda heard about it, he immediately arranged for me to be free. Even before his official broadcast in 2010 that he was using his position as the executive Governor of Bauchi State (Northern Nigeria) to free 28 prisoners from Bauchi Central Prison, I was already a free man along with several of my colleagues.

Q: Now can you tell me some of the horrible crimes that you committed and how you got born again and became converted.

A: Old things have passed away and I don’t want to talk about the past, because like Apostle Paul said, we need to press forward in Christ Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Q: So as Chief Attack Strategist, what crimes have or did you commit before you renounced the deadly sect?

A: In the early months of May 1986, I was among the 36 Jihadist hardliners, who went on a rampage to attack Christian students of the University of Sokoto (Sokoto State in northern Nigeria). In that same week, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the brutal leadership of IBB mobilized us and provided some military vans and Army uniforms which our men used and started killing innocent and defenseless Christians all over the Northern states. I and the son of the Emir of Kano, who is now a Christian by name Rev. Paul Ado Bayero, were among the Muslim fanatics who razed down the sculpture of Jesus at the University of Ibadan (Oyo State in western Nigeria).

The following year, March 5, 1987 to be very precise, the “Evil Genius” General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida secretly armed us through one of his close aids by the name of Captain Hassan Abubakar (now a Pastor with a fast growing church in Lagos). We went to go and kill some targeted Christians including Rev. Nuhu Kure (Throne room founder) after the destruction we committed at the College of Education in Kafanchan, Kaduna State (North Central Nigeria). And of recent, I was the leader of the team of soldiers of Allah that destroyed Church buildings and properties in Bornu State (northern Nigeria).

Q: Can you name some of the buildings and Churches you and your Boko Haramists destroyed?

A: There are many, but our main targets which we succeeded in destroying included: Goodnews & ECWA Church, Damboa Road, Maiduguri E.Y.N.L.C.C. Wulari, National Evangelical Mission Inc. Divisional Headquarters Wulari, Elijah Apostolic Christ Church, Oke Ayo Celestial Church of Christ, Deeper Life Bible Church, the Lord’s Chosen and six others in Railway Area and all over Wulari in Maiduguri, Borno State. Other church buildings we destroyed and looted include the Aposotic Church, COCIN Church, Evangelical Church/Mission Headquarters, Anglican Church, Baptist Church/Mission, Redeemed Christian Church of God, El-Shaddai Parish, Watchman Charismatic and several others.
