Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Where Are The 3d Animators, The Cg Artist Gone? by Shimish: 2:44pm On Jul 06, 2014
Hi everyone. Just to add a comment, I would like to say that 3d artists are still alive and kicking. I've met quite a number of them here on Nairaland. I'm also one, and ive been one for quite some time. Here are a few samples, since some have been asking. What do u think? I use blender3d they r from a film I'm currently working on

Ok......I am working with a uV sphere in blender render,...I had to click ctrl D(duplicate) into seven. But I want to use diff colour material on each of them but when I do that, they all will have the same colour. NB am working with Blender render for this practice. I did what Lad said but I still got same result. Maybe I didn't get him well. Therefore, am asking.."How can I add diff colour material on a mesh that is multiple but the same when working with Brender render?
oh! now I understand. there are 2 methods.
1. select the mesh, click the minus sign on the material panel to delete the material and add a new one
2.select the mesh, click the plus sign on the attached image. this converts your material into a separate duplicate material which can be edited independently.

Cool...free style ? . Don't get it,..does blender have free style? Just don't understand. Throw more light pls.
its a new feature in blender which allows you to give out lines to your renders. your renders can look like blue prints, hand drawings, etc

Well Boss...@Shimish.
a little advice. try working on a short project as simple as ladanski's butterfly animation. you will never know how much you can learn and achieve when u set your mind on one specific project. it can be something as simple as kitchen utensils arranging themselves in a drawer or cabinet

well, Maya and max have been here for a while, and most people here are in a hurry to become rich and famous in animation thus not everyone is willing to risk spending time experimenting with unchartered waters like blender. what they fail to realize is that there is a limited supply of training materials for them unlike blender. as a result there is a bottle neck effect as in only the few that are able to afford professional tutoring or materials are able to swim above the rest. that is y you will notice that most Nigerian animations are confined to a similar style and level.
anyway, this is my opinion and not a conclusive fact.

ladanski: Here is a short animated video I made recently in blender.
very nice, I really like it. I bet it will go well with a music score in the background. what do you think?

sureteeboy: What's stopping him is the fact that the entertainment Industry isn't his field. You have the right to criticize a player who doesn't perform well (even though, you can't do what he's doing) simply because that's his profession. Those who chose directing and producing movies as their profession should be ready to produce meaningful movies, else, they won't be free from criticism.

dude i don't know you, but this is the most Intelligent response I have read in a looooooong time.

I've got this book "node encyclopedia" its about 2.5mb, I can email it to you if u like. I've also got Andrew Price's "wow factor" which describes in detail how to achieve a wide range of effects using nodes. unfortunately its close to 60mb and I lack the bandwidth to upload something that large sad

Tos87: @Shimish.....i think node composting is the koko for blender,...you can achieve a lot with it./but learning it is cumbersome i must confess. and blender guru has the complete tutorials wit prize tags on it. making it difficult for people like us to get it.i cant say how good you are on node editing but if you can give me some guild lines on the steps and the things to have in mind before using the node editor...only if you can. Thanks

Slow down. yeah nodes are very good to work with. I can't do with them. however it is a very broad field ranging from rendering, chroma key, colour correction, compositing, material and textures, depth of field, masking, etc. would be easier if u showed me what u r trying to achieve so that I can put u through. that way, u will understand the logic.

Whatx ur method of lip sync.....
Like ur modellin style anywayz

thanks for the kind words. for lip sync I create shape keys for the vowel and consonant range which are confined to controllers. after which I break down the audio sound to syllables and do the matching

Tos87: when ever i click quick effect it happens,....also when baking.also i make sure i have a new cache before baking with my work saved too.
I prefer not using quick effects. I rather use the main fluid simulator. make ur default cube the domain, make an icosphere your fluid and make the cup an obstacle
