The female dog was brought to us last week Friday, but we noticed the dripping of blood from her vulva this week.

She often barks at the male dog whenever he tries to mount her or worst still sits down completely to prevent him.

so we put a call to the vet man that brought her & he said it's probably because of the dripping of blood, that as soon as it stops the dog will become receptive.

And also the male can tell when she is ready for breeding, that is why they sniff and lick the females vulva.. Most times the males wouldn't be interested if the female is still bleeding.. That is why we wait till day 9,some breeders wait till 11 days.. So maybe you can try now again am sure she should be ready to breed and your male would know.. Call it animal instinct..

Please was there any specific thing you did for them to become receptive & mate cause I have a German Shepherd that has refused to mate another German Shepherd that was brought to him a couple of days ago.
