I don't get angry easily but some person wanna make me spit. A country is suffering 50% unemployment without basic infrastructure for even a small scale business to thrive and some fools come here to tell youths to create their own wealth. Make we wonder if these set of persons were hired to invade blogs like this by govt. In as much as I am not against creating one's own wealth or starting up somthing, I see foolishness on the part of those who say youths should not protest unemployment when it happens even in countries where employment rate is higher than that of Nigeria. fela was a prophet #suffering'n'smilling

True Nigerian, is it Jonathan that will throw them to Prisons without the courts or they should arraign without full investigation? No matter how long, let's see progress in the case (I know if Jackson's case have been in Naija, we would have expected judgement within 5 weeks unlike 2 yrs it took in the US of A)
As per electricity, how many hours do you get light when you paid N1500 and now that you are paying 10K. There has been a change. Like many have requested, the President should allow companies to import prepaid Meters so that it can be available enmass and we will all be able to monitor our consumption.
I knw GEJ would love to be the change but I doubt if he has the will power..dude looks weak to me plus he's still under the control of the original thieves (PDP). Nigerians just need the change PERIOD!
Culture / Re: Why Is 'Nigger' Offensive? by slimojas89(m): 12:33pm On Sep 28, 2012
cap28: when a white man uses the word nigger on a black man he is reminding you of your inferior status and the fact that he has had his foot on your neck for the past 500 years, he is reminding you of how his ancestors ra.ped your mother, wife, grandmother and sisters, he is reminding you of how his ancestors lynched you for fun and sat around with their mates laughing and eating while your lifeless body (thats where the world picnic - pick a nigger, came from) hung from a tree or burnt at the stake, he is reminding you of your zero status and powerlessness in the world order, he is reminding you that YOU COME TO HIM FOR JOBS, HOUSING, EDUCATION AND SURVIVAL , a black man can use the word nigger on another black person but it will never ever conjure up the terrible and hateful memories of slavery, ra.pe and lynching that that word connote because the black man in recent times has remained powerless.

a white man's use of the word nigger is a reminder to you the black man that you are still beneath him - it is a way of showing you how contemptuous he is of you and everythign you stand for.

Maybe blacks should stop using the word as well cos i don't see any reason why you want to use a word and don't want another brother to use the word cos his father abused it..Good way to pay back though cos #whitemencan'tjump #noswag and so they wanna copy the black dude for everything they say/do which most times start(for say) with the nigga word.let's start calling a white brother nigga as well cos we'v forgotten about all that happened and we should not just "brother" a black man but a white dude also for social well being sakes.

Well as much as I agree that social norms and cultural values are just like religion. Once it doesn't align with yours, it often doesn't make any sense to you.

Now take the Nigerian example as opposed to the west. While growing up (in lagos). We were
used to calling the average ibo guy - Yellow pawpaw (remember 'Yellow lo ru, Omo Ibo lo ba je'), Omo Nna, Hausas were Abokis and so on. While this references were not complimentary they certainly could not be regarded as derogatory.
The ppl being addressed lived with (because they were brought up to be comfortable with who they are)

But for the west, let's take the Terry Scenario has an example. If Terry had just used the words 'fucking cunt' against Anton, as much as it will be seen as an insult, the whole issue would never have raised any dust. But insert the word 'black' in there and every body is up in arms. So in essence, they are saying it more insulting/derogatory to be refferred to as black than to be called a 'cunt' right ? Sound racist to me, not Terry but the hipocrates - sorry hypocrites.

I think blacks should quit living in the past and move on. We need to make a good name for our race

The word Nigger (or niger) is the latin for black, just as negro is spanish.
People say it hurts to be called nigger because of the slave trade and all those stuff,
but me thinks it hurts more to be called nigger/black because it is synonymous with Africa (the most underdeveloped and corrupt continent), crime, illiteracy and so many vices.

Blacks (especially in the west) are sensitive to the word Nigger the way we are sensitve to the word 'Nigerian' being used in advertisement and popular culture due to what we perceive as its negative connotations.

In itself there is no problem with the word Nigger and its usage, by the way my favorite rap 'Gospel' song - has a hook that says 'Let us Pray my Niggas'
Everyday as i leave for work, the "ABOKI" at the gate hails me "DOGO" and i understood that's what a tall person is nicknamed in hausaland, and hail him back. Blacks are strong people with a sense of pride and i don't like it when black look back at the times and take the N word too seriously.
Culture / Re: Why Is 'Nigger' Offensive? by slimojas89(m): 10:35am On Sep 28, 2012
I didn't know how blacks could take the N word until Nas tried naming his album lipsrsealed. Oboi see wahala everywhere. Rappers sing everyday and say lipsrsealed this , lipsrsealed that and its "cool" but when a brother in the struggle wanted his album named lipsrsealed, there was uproar.Got me thinking like N****, why tha F*** have ya'all been saying N**** since?
Foreign Affairs / Re: The Man Behind Anti-Islam Movie Arrested (pics) by slimojas89(m): 10:17am On Sep 28, 2012
COOLDUN:

Is there any government in Nigeria? One of the people that broke the police station in Kano state and beheaded Mr Gideon Akaluka, is today the governor of the highest bank in Nigeria. How can your government that is dominated by the terrorists defend her citizen when he or she does nothing that warrant his/her barbaric killing. It happened in Kano, Gideon Akaluka, a lady that had quranic verses in her shoes, Yobe state, A school teacher who was supervising an examination, was killed because she touched the quran that was used by a female student in cheating in the exam hall. It happened in Bauchi, where some people were accused of selling pig meats. But recently a muslim Hausa man was caught in Abia state, with killed vultures, which he confessed that he has been selling them as roasted chicken to his unsuspecting customers for a very long time, before mother luck departed from him that day. If it was in muslim states he would have been beheaded with his head lifted up and danced on the streets of the town. My dear Nigeria is a curse to the people that made this country to be one. No government in Nigeria. Take it or leave it.
Of course Lord luggard made a big mistake.lagos and mid-western protectorates merged should have just ended there.Hoping this can still be reversed peacefully.
