Jobs/Vacancies / Re: No Body Faces Rejection Like The Barbers Apprentice by sloo1: 6:33pm On Nov 06, 2022
Thegracefulness:

Actually there’s nothing like “barbed”. You say “cut”. The verb is to cut one's hair.

“Barb” does not mean to have a haircut; it means to fit barbed wires (electric metal lines) on a fence. The verb used for cutting hair is “barber,” as in, “he barbers for a living”.

You are correct. However, there is a word called "barbered" which is past tense of "barber". It is correct to say " he barbered my hair"

Education / Re: ASUU Suspends 8-Month-Old Strike Conditionally - ChannelsTV by sloo1: 4:46am On Oct 14, 2022
Suspension of strike - the losers and the winners:
1. ASUU: they will receive withheld salary, 50 billion has been mapped out for earn allowance, 170 billion for salary increment and 250 billion for revitalization. With all these, the strike was SUSPENDED conditionally. ASUU ARE AMONG THE WINNERS

2. Speaker house of rep.: Femi took it upon himself to mediate between ASUU and the president. His effort paid. ASUU, the students and his party APC see him as a hero. His effort will impact positively on his political career. FEMI IS AMONG THE WINNERS

3. FG: They won on issue of payment platform. The burden of financing higher institution has been partially transfered to schools and by extension to students and parents thereby partly relieving FG. For the rulling party, strike will no longer be a problem during campaigns. FG IS AMONG THE WINNERS

4. STUDENTS: They have lost 8 months which can not be recovered. FG insisted that from 2024 earn allowance will be generated by universities. That means there will be great increase in tuition fees. Students may have to pay between 150k to 1 Millon depending on the course of study and school. STUDENTS ARE AMONG THE LOSERS

4. CHRIS NGIGE: He fought ASUU and the minister of education. Insisted on increase in tuition fees. He did what he could to frustrated the effort of negotiation committee. He blackmailed the presidency and probably tried to use ASUU to frustrate his political party against next election. At the end his effort was in vain. His political party is calling for his sack. He is seen in bad light by ASUU, other ministers and his party. NGIGE IS AMONG THE LOSERS.

Ishilove:

And this, folks, takes the award for the shittiest comment of 2021 first quarter.

Our family culture sometimes affects our perception of what is right and wrong.

In my own house, my wife or the domestic staff clears the table after meal. Imagine i visit my brother and the wife suggest, even with her body language, that I should clear my table (ofcourse that's unthinkable)...

In your own family it's possible your husband has the responsibility of washing the plates after meal. That is not bad if it's your understanding but telling your matured visiting brother in-law to wash his plates after meal, I think that's what is shitty. The OP's husband understands that, that's why he tried to cover for his brother thereby protecting both his brother and his wife. He is a good man.

I have gone beyond insulting people in online forum. I wish you all the best.

The truth is your might be a good person but you have not been a good wife. I will give you reasons when I wake up.

The problems:

You are jealous, insecure and a bit arrogant.

The circumstances surrounding you wedding - your pregnancy, rejection by your family, your perceived inlaws perception of you, made you insecure.

You are jealous of your husbands attention to his family and you are either arrogant or suffering from inferiority complex or both.

The solution:

Love and respect those whom your husband love - his family. Engage his siblings in healthy conversations. Made them your friends. Show them care and love. Sometimes join their conversation with your husband. Remember that your husband has been showing such care and love to his family long before he met you.

Work on acquiring a humble heart. Asking your brother in-law to wash his plate when you and your sister are there is example of your arrogant or inferiority complex in action. From your description of him he is not a small boy. Does your husband wash his own plates too.

If you become humble and stop thinking much of yourself you will be at peace with yourself and will be a lovely woman to both your husband and in-laws.

Your husband also needs advice but since he is not here no need to go on

Car Talk / Re: Check Engine Light And How Do I Resolve? by sloo1: 5:50pm On Dec 09, 2020
Fix the problems and the lights will go off. Personally, if I see any indicator on my dashboard I fix the problem immediately.

For ABS problem take your car to a good mechanic and insist they fix the ABS. It is easy to fix. Most mechanics will tell you that I doesn't matter but don't listen to them. It is important especially if you travel long distance with your vehicle.

For VSC, there is a VSC button under the left vent in some Acura models. The button is only useful when your VSC system is ok. If your tire is not good or not the same size as the original that came with the vehicle, the VSC indicator will activate. There are other faults that can activate the VSC indicator. Again a good mechanic will be able to dictate the fault and correct it.

For check emission, check if your EGR selonoid is covered with carbon. Again a good mechanic will help.

Labour Minister, Ngige, speaks on ASUU strike, says lecturers misrepresenting agreement
Mr Ngige says some of the offers made to ASUU have timelines, same timelines have been complied with .
ByPress Release December 8, 2020 4 min read
The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, has just circulated the statement below providing updates on the ongoing strike by ASUU and the steps so far taken by government to resolve the crisis.

Mr Ngige accused ASUU of misrepresenting some of the agreements government reached with it.

“The truth of the matter is that a ‘Gentleman Agreement’ was reached at the last meeting in which ASUU agreed to call off strike before December 9, 2020 and the Minister in turn agreed that once the strike is called off , he would get a presidential waiver for ASSU to be paid the remainder of their salaries on or before December 9, 2020,” the Minister said.

READ FULL STATEMENT BELOW.

PRESS STATEMENT

WE HAVE KEPT OUR PROMISES TO ASUU -FG

The Federal Government has faulted claims by the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU) Biodun Ogunyemi that it has failed to deliver on the timelines on offers made to the union and that University teachers cannot return to classes on “ empty stomach.”

Dismissing the claims by ASUU, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige said that while it is true that some of the offers made to ASUU have timelines, the same timelines have faithfully been complied with .

“ For instance, the Federal Government promised to constitute a Negotiation Committee for the 2009 Agreement and has fulfilled it with the last week’s inauguration of the committee that has Prof. Muzali as chairman.

“ The N40b Earned Academic Allowances/ Earned Allowances have also been processed just as the N30b revitalization Fund, bringing it to a total of N70b .

“ Likewise, the Visitation Panels for the Universities have been approved by the President but the panel cannot perform its responsibilities until the shut universities are re-opened. The gazzeting is also being rounded off at the Office of Attorney General of the Federation while the Ministry of Education is ready to inaugurate the various visitation panels.

“ Similarly, Government agreed to pay salaries, allowances of Earned Academic Allowances/ Earned Allowances with a hybrid platform that is not hundred percent IPPIS as requested by ASUU while UTAS is undergoing usability and integrity test at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) as demanded by ASUU

“ I therefore state without equivocation that every offer with timeline has been faithfully fulfilled as promised by government .”

The Minister noted that it is false and discomforting for ASUU to wrongly inform the general public that the Federal Government agreed to pay all withheld salaries before it will resume work .

“The truth of the matter is that a ‘Gentleman Agreement’ was reached at the last meeting in which ASUU agreed to call off strike before December 9, 2020 and the Minister in turn agreed that once the strike is called off , he would get a presidential waiver for ASSU to be paid the remainder of their salaries on or before December 9, 2020 .

Part of the proposal ASUU took back on November 27, 2020 reads , “ the Hon Minister of Labour and Employment informed that he had consulted with the Hon Minister of Education on getting a waiver on the issue of No Work , No Pay as stipulated in Sec. 43 of the Trade Dispute Act, Cap T8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria( LFN )2004 , but a reservation has been made concerning this request because of the ongoing strike by ASUU. The HML&E therefore agreed to work on this to be actualized before Wednesday , December 9, 2020.”

“ For avoidance of doubt and for clarity , it should be stated that ASUU began warning strike on March 9 , 2020 and went into full blown industrial action on the 23rdof the same month over IPPIS payment platform .

“ With the lockdown at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Minister got a special presidential approval to demonstrate good faith to ASUU members that government is not on vengeful mission or out to starve ASUU to death as some of them are claiming . They were subsequently paid for two months of February and March after which it was extended to April, May and June, months they were on strike on compassionate ground , bringing it to five months. This was done because of the Covid-19 pandemic and its deleterious effects on incomes of all workers and their families as government reasoned that ASUU members also have families.

“The Minister later invited ASUU to a virtual conciliatory meeting which they turned down. He further requested them to show good faith over the five months salaries government made to them by returning to classroom and start virtual and online teaching as being done by private universities , while government sorts out the rest of their requests , they also refused.

“ It is therefore unbelievable that ASUU President claimed that government agreed to pay outright, the entire money of the period of strike to them, even for staying at home and refusing to do either virtual teaching or research .

“ I wish to emphasize further that the outstanding salaries to ASUU is for the month of July , August , September and October as no federal public servant has been paid for November 2020. Hence, it is baseless for ASUU to claim it cannot go back to school on empty stomach while government has on compassionate grounds, paid five months salaries out of the nine months they have been on strike .

“ ASUU is fully aware of the principle of No Work, No Pay of the Sec. 43 of the Trade Disputes Act under which many unions like National Association of Residents Doctors( NARD) in 2017 and Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) in 2018 among others have lost salaries as a result of strike .

“ It is consequently important to inform Nigerans, especially parents that Federal Government is asking ASUU to go back to work and when they do, the Ministers of Labour, Finance and Education will put up a memo to deal with the outstanding four months of salaries. Asking government to pay these four months before it goes back to work, means ASUU is placing itself above the law of the land and no government will encourage, it as it is a recipe for chaos in the labour milieu .”

“ Finally , the Federal Government will continue to engage ASUU in the spirit of social dialogue which the Ministry of Labour and Employment has been encouraging based on the ILO Principle on decent work.”

It is no longer news that FG has put in place palliative measures to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on "poor Nigerians". This implies that FG, just like every other Nigerian, is aware of the hardship that this pandemic has brought to a lot of people.

However, it seems that Lecturers have been subjected to "death dealing starvation" by FG.

I have two close friends who are Lecturers and I understand the hardship they are passing through. Over 40,000 Lecturers have not received their salaries for 2+ months. These guys are fathers, husbands, breadwinners etc.

It seems that FG wants to starve them to death. I urge those in charge to look into thier matter. I rest my case.
