Webmasters / Nairaland Clone And API by Snotat: 1:19am On Feb 05
I built a news API by scapping news from the most popular Nigerian Forum, Nairaland(https://Nairaland.com), NLand api. I created it using puppeteer web scrapper, it's built with node/express and deployed to render instaed of cyclic due to its size
Check front page here - https://NLand.onrender.com

Next is recreating the clone itself by using the API to build a clone of the site, frontend - react deployed to netlify, backend- Node/express deployed to cyclic. https://NLand.netlify.app

Thanks.

Good work.

Clone something better, Nairaland UI is shit
Thanks, can you please give me an idea of something to build or a site to clone next.

chinasaekpere:
this is quite easy, I can just copy the UI codes from the developers tool
What about the API, how easy is it?. The clone is a react app, copying the HTML from from dev tools is easy, what about the CSS and JavaScript, API call etc. Whilst, I never took it as a challenge, it's just to improve my web dev skills, and build my portfolio stronger aimed at attracting jobs

During leisure, I decided to build some stuff to improve my web dev skills and to increase the number of projects I will be putting on my portfolio when it's ready.

So, The first is my NLand api, which created with the help of puppeteer web scrapper, it's built with node/express and deployed to render due to its size
Check front page here - https://NLand.onrender.com

Next is recreating the clone itself, I did a lot of changes, frontend - react deployed to netlify, backend- Node/express deployed to cyclic. https://NLand.netlify.app

And also, a domain availability checker I built with the popular claymorphism design - https://domain-checker.netlify.app

I am available to answer questions on the API routes, and also available for web dev jobs and work support and referrals.

Thanks.

Years of experience: 7

*I can't disclose company.

Seeing ppls Salary up there sent shivers down my spine.

As at 2014 I didn't have any job. I picked up software development downloaded several video tutorials online and I started working. I dedicated more than 11 hours daily to this.
I would wake up 6 a.m. as if I was going to the office. Gradually improved and started building apps.
Then in 2016 January I got my first job in Lagos as a junior Dev. My salary was 120k. I learnt very fast on the job and improved my skills.

Within a year, I got inside also that paid me 250k alongside my current job. I also got promoted on my current job so my salary became around 180 k.

Then in 2018 I got another job with another company that was paying me over 500k. I kept improving and I was receiving promotion till my salary hit what it currently is well I kept my side job.

But even with my current job plus side also I still believe in entrepreneurship, so I started up my own company but I'm still funding it to make it profitable.

Programming / Re: How To Use React Router Navigation by Snotat: 6:35am On Sep 01, 2023
kemi72:
React Router, a widely adopted library in the React ecosystem, offers a powerful solution to tackle navigation challenges in modern web development. In this article, we’ll delve into the ins and outs of React Router navigation, exploring its core concepts, usage, and advanced features.

Why React Router?
In the world of single-page applications (SPAs), smooth and efficient navigation is a crucial aspect of providing a seamless user experience.

React Router is a JavaScript library designed to handle client-side routing in SPAs. Unlike traditional multi-page applications that involve full page reloads upon navigation, SPAs dynamically update specific components based on the URL without causing the entire page to refresh. React Router facilitates this behavior by providing a set of components and tools for managing navigation within your React applications.

Getting Started
To start using React Router for navigation, you first need to install it into your project. Open your terminal and run the following command:

npm install react-router-dom
// or
yarn add react-router-dom

Incase you find. Please could you indicate on the thread
Actually, I've found two third party API with one and bichidata, I will connect MTN data, they both sell at 213/gb, I hope its a direct API like they say, for the rest, ie Cable TV , and Electricity bill and Airtime, I'm still not sure where to get API for those
Webmasters / Re: VTU Experts, Come In Here!!! by Snotat: 8:48pm On Jan 01, 2023
Mansoor001234:

If you check from third parties like ticketdata
You could use thier API - but the prices are a tad higher than the direct source though (they're reliable 80% of the time)
I will like to know the API ticket data uses, instead of connecting to api connected to another api.
