Career / Do We Really Need A Degree To Succeed In Life? by snow123: 7:10pm On Dec 20, 2009
I have some friends who have gotten differents degrees in different fields . inshort to make a long story short, one of them has Bsc in Mass communication, bsc in accountancy Bsc in Engineering and still yet has not gotten a job in any of the fields . So my advise to all those who are wasting time and money acquiring degrees in different field are:.
1. that you don;t need a degree in life to be successfull in life .what you need is a basic education .eg in developed world you dont need a degree to be a banker , work in oil company ,work in communication company, be a journalist, be stock broker, be a president of a country ,governor , senator.or even a nurse.
2.Reserches have shown that most of the world riches men and women did not have even a degree.
But pls. don't misunderstand me, education is good but i think that one should focus in one field and be the best in his or her field instead of jumping from one course to another .
Family / The Best Place To Raise A Child :Nigeria Or Abroad? by snow123: 6:00pm On Dec 20, 2009
I thinks that parents should send their children to Nigeria to attend both primary and secondary school  before they comeback to attend colleges  .B/c i travelled to Nigeria and noticed that those  children are so good academically more than children  i see oversea. especially those in private schools. It will be wise idea since most parents abroad can afford the school fees for Private schools in Nigeria.
What do u think?

To those who said that they can;t marry a new Nigerian guys b/c of cultural different.This is what you don;t know.
1. that Nigerian guys have married to the white ladies and there is no problem in terms of cultural differences.
2.they should travel to Nigeria and see that most of the guys are more Americanised that those that were born here.
3. that they should stop seeing Nigerian guys based on what they read in the book {things fall apart}

Career / Re: Why Are All Africans Studying Nursing In America? by snow123: 12:21am On Dec 20, 2009
kech:

grin Funny enough, when I was coming to the states to do my masters in Engineering, there was this girl that was SERIOUSLY trying to get me to change to nursing on the plane. She went on and on and on, When I arrived some of my relatives tried to "advice me" to change. I was like "see me see trouble oh! what has engineering got to do with nursing bikonu? Why did I fly all the way across the atlantic then?" They were like "Nooo, noo, what we're saying is that u can make real money quickly with nursing and its easy to find a job". And I said "Are u saying I cant get a job in engineering and get paid good money" They were like "Do u think its easy? Competition bla bla bla" Anyway to cut the long story short, I have a GOOD job in engineering paying me VERY GOOD money shocked shocked shocked shocked, Nursing is cool. I like it. Its just not for me. Its for those that have the passion to save lives OR those that want quick money OR more importantly for those that don't really have plans of returning to Naija to work in the near future. I do have plans of returning and I can't do anything back home with a nursing degree unfortunately. I'm not going to go thru the hassle over here only to go home and become an eliza nurse wearing white cap angry angry angry or worse, not even practice the nursing wey I read. Whats the use then?

Yes people have different destine in life.But i have seen some people with masters in engineering and they are now doing nursing .So it is too early to say that you have not made a mistake by not doing nursing.
