Russia can't fight beyond it's attached borders, they don't have the means.

The only reason for that is that Russia don't have a world police foreign policy like Uncle Sam. On the other hand no one will ever win a war on Russian soil either.

But on the flip side Russia has by far the best developed ICBM Systems to destroy any place on earth without leaving its borders.

Men died.

I only have sympathy for the Nigerien and others who were killed and injured in the attack, my sincere condolences to them but I have issue with the US and EU who act as if they are in support of goverments in there fight against terrorism but in reality its in there interest to keep certain parts of the continent in perpetual conflicts.

That's just my opinion

Three American Soldiers Killed in Niger in Suspected Ambush

Three U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers were killed and two were wounded in Niger on Wednesday, in an ambush by suspected Islamic militants operating from Mali, multiple sources with knowledge of the incident told NBC News.

According to the sources, one Nigerien soldier was also killed in the attack.

The U.S. military did not confirm the deaths officially, but did acknowledge that a “hostile fire” incident involving U.S. troops had occurred.

“We are working to confirm details of the incident and will have more information as soon as we can confirm facts on the ground,” said a spokesperson for Africa Command, or AFRICOM. The military generally does not confirm nor identify American casualties until it has ensured that the deceased’s family members have been properly notified :read more https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/three-u-s-soldiers-killed-niger-suspected-ambush-n807821

Shiiiit happens when you try establish new colonial outpost under the disguise of AFRICOM, training and capacity building on african soil when in fact its just another extension of US Global Strike Policy.

Looked at Libya. Libya was far better milltary advanced than Nigeria and NATO took it our. Hell France was one who started it.

Libya had a divided military and 90% of all there air defenses were not activated. The reality is that all Nato military engagements over the past decade were against nations with internal instability, while foreign instigators play there usual de stabilizing roles . Political and general lawlessness or should I say "bringing democracy and freedom to the people" has been Nato's pre conditions for successful air raids, Serbia in the past and recently in Syria is a perfect example of such.

I think we need to look at domestic preconditions when whenever we take into consideration, foreign military operations against state actors.

On the side history has shown us the French military like there Arab counterparts have been proven to be a bunch of b@tches who run away when facing a determined peer adversary. grin

My brother biko don't try to convince people who have no iota of the doctrine of war. For them is all the shiny toys they see on TV or nairaland most of which will be rust bucket and rust metal when they make first contact with the enemy. Imagine the archaic statement of Egypt gaining air superiority over a country like Nigeria in 48hrs. Egyptian pilots that have been known to be cowardly in the face of real combat. For the naysayers we have no "radar, no early warning system, the Roland's are toothless...". Even Sudan and Ethiopia have been considered no go areas by the Nile Arabs. People forget you can actually buy trouble.

Here we go again fanaticism in full swing.

very funny hope u know that Egyptian air force currently will gain air superiority over Nigeria within a minimum of 48hours unless u get help from a superior power within 24hours

Recent wars have shown that air assets are only good for softening up ground formations or in support of ground units. Getting troops and sufficient equipment into foreign land in a sustained land offensive is still beyond Egypt. Even super powers and major regional powers like UK and France lack in this regard.

So no african country in there current state of military readiness can afford nor sustain an offensive against any top ten military equipped nations in africa.

Never the less, they are way over any African military....Even Nigeria and South Africa combine.

Yes in terms of hardware they are 5-10 years ahead of all african nations, but interms of indigenous manufacturing and R&grin I beg to differ because they lack in that regard compared to SA. Military Industrial Complex is Egypts achilles heel presently.

The difference with Egypt is the gov is controlled by the military so the military is in control over their national budget. What you also forgot to tell is that Egypt is in a region where there's been constant military conflicts, including the fact that they have a neighbor who has no regard for sovereignty. Egypt is also being militarily propped up by the US and rich regional powers who regards Egypt as there fail safe.

And the NN invested another 8.5 million dollars for armaments and sensors emplacements to its own specification and classified it a frigate. In Africa today it is larger than the flagship of many countries and has the longest range of any ship on the continent at 9,600 nautical miles translated at 17,800km at 20 knots. It has an onboard R-MACK system which can detect and track all vessels in the Gulf of Guinea.

Try a another one on someone who knows nothing. $8.5m on a 52year old granny Hammilton Class Cutter and then come here and try claim its one of the best on the continent can only be done by you. Who cares about the R-mack system its a useless ship and its beyond me why come here and claim the contrary.

The only thing that ship can be used for is cadet training.

Spare me your bullcrap, Mr bodyguard for the west. I've never seen "most black leaders blaming the west" for anything. You pulled that crap out of your self-hate troubled asss. If anything, most black leaders still see the west as 'partners' in their quest for development, forming all sorts of alliances with them.

Zimbabwe is technically in a state of war with the west, and so they are right to curtail certain rights like "free press" since those are subject to infiltration by foreign elements, who would use that to further destabilise the country. And sanctions ARE to blame for Zimbabwe's economic difficulties. Not "partly". Mugabe' economic policies are 100% correct. He is redistributing the nation's resources to the black majority, and helping to foster racial equality. It is a long-term vision which future generations of Zimbabweans will benefit from, as stakeholders in their ancestral lands, not tenants, peasants, and servants to white men.

Of course the black elite would be given more land, because they can afford to utilise it without the temptation of selling it back to the white minority, and defeating the purpose of the redistribution program. Do you see any poor people owning large tracts of land in the UK? Is it not their aristocracy that owns all the land there? But BBC will moan night and day that Mugabe is giving land to his "cronies". You should ask them how their queen and various princes, dukes, duchesses, lords, earls, and other elite came to own vast tracts of prime land in the UK. Why isn't it shared among the commoners as they are prescribing for Zimbabwe? Why is their "free press" not complaining about the injustice of that situation? Maybe they're not so "free" as you think..

The only asssss muncher here is you. The West nor East are partners with african leaders for development, its all abt self enrichment and auctioning of future resources in africa under the pretext of partnership development. This is what is happening all over africa and you know it.

What delusions are you under, what war with West is Zimbabwe under tell me who drew up the economic policies in Zimb
abwe the "West". African leaders are quick to blame there woes on the West instead of focusing on educating the masses and develop there own resources by bennificiation be it Agri or mineral. Free press is one of the foundations on which to keep the Elite in check, otherwise we can just go back to the days of monarchs and rulers for life like its currently happening in Zim.

So the monetary policy of printing money and allowing your currency to become a worthless peace of paper is correct under your assumption. Show me where wealth redistribution is reaching the masses, while you at it tell this to those Zimbabweans who brace the Kruger National Park daily to escape poverty.

I don't give a fucccck abt the BBC and their demonization of Zim or any western media outlets who pushes a particular agenda, what I care about is transparency and the rule of law. Have you ever been to Zim? Tell me what's there to worship about a 93 who wants to die in office.

In conclusion it seems we can agree on some issues but on the Mugabe sainthood theory you trying so hard to propagate I beg to differ

Stop telling lies. "Almost half" of Zimbabweans have NOT run away from Zimbabwe. And the economic hardship there was caused by western imposed economic sanctions placed on that country for its land redistribution program, which eliminated the previous situation whereby the white minority of 4% owned 85% of the land, with black Zimbabweans mere peasants on their own territory. Mugabe changed that, and that is why his people love him. Their suffering is slowly coming to an end and their economy is now growing, but with fairness to all, and that is the best. Not slavery to whites as you are suggesting. And do stop using racist epithets here, if you don't mind.

Tell this shiiit to those who risk there lives daily crossing the Limpopo river on there way to SA. According to STATSA there are between 1,5-3m Zim nationals in SA while a estimated third are illegally in SA or on expired documentation.

Most of the farms owned by former whites in Zim are in the hands of Zim war vets or Zano PF leaders, some owning up to 10 farms. We who visit places near the Kruger NP and Musina know full well the effects of Zims decline.

Yes sanctions partly is to blame for Zims woes but the gov of Mugabe has become dictatorial in all aspects and that's a fact. There's no free press nor do they allow freedom of political rights in that country. The issue with Zim is there obsession with whites in order to tame there masses by blaming everything on the West like most of our black leaders do, yet they ignore the fact that their economic policies are the cause not Western sanctions.

SADC is starting to get fed up with Mugabe.
