Politics / Re: Hoax! America Didnt Go To The Moon! by socrates08: 8:19pm On Nov 05, 2007
You guys do know pcmecom was just phishing? He has some of the weakest BS fu I've ever seen but it worked! Sorry guys but you got owned! Look at the first line he typed,

"America didn't go to the moon as was widely said, they faked their trip to moon so that they could win the cold war with russia, for evidence to this claim"
America is a Continent so its never been to the moon
How can something that never started have a winner? It was a stalemate!
In the video look for gravity not lights. That was on earth and a just practice. NASA still does this almost every day.

He has no clue what he's talking about and cant prove anything. Just a school boy looking to start an argument he can't finnish.

1) How do you know there is a VACUUM on the moon ??

Space is a vacuum. Moon has no atmosphere. Therefor the vacuum of space goes all the way to the moons surface.

2) How do you know there are no winds on the moon??

Winds on earth are created by weather. On the moon and threw out space there are solar winds.
Family / Re: Prenuptial Agreements by socrates08: 10:34am On Nov 05, 2007
In a court room the woman always gets paid. Even my 24 page prenup only help me keep what I owned before marriage. Half of everthing earned while married is what they get. If kids, support also. State law varies some but men lose. Thats just the way it is. Been down that road. Need to prove cheating or something to have a chance. Yes, It sucks!
Computers / Re: Microsoft Vista - A Serious Pain In My Rear by socrates08: 10:12am On Nov 05, 2007
I'd rather have Windows than LINUX or Mac
Windows is great for games and HW support. Guessing you're a gamer.

For anything involving that really bad 4 letter word called WORK, MAC is king. Pics, vid editing or anything productive. New MAC OS aka Leopard to be released this month, I think. Ever test drive one of 07 MAC's? Only use XP for gaming now. Very hard to hack into. Safer, Linux like stability, no blue screens, restarts not needed, obeys, fast start up, good performance, encrypted hard drive and just works. First time every time. I will never own another lappy that runs windows! After 18 yrs I'm using a mac again!

Linux is hands down the king of servers for home and small business use. Makes a cheap network PC firewall and/or file server thats very reliable and runs from old used CD/DVD, 256 of mem and VC. Under clock for passive cooling. Will run for a yr w/ no restarts or brain farts. Setup and forget. Thats what I'm talking about!

Now If MS would just fix the 5 copies of XP I paid for! Well, only in my dreams. FYI, XP support will end summer 08. No more updates after that. Are they forcing us to get Vista? Will it ever be fixed? Nope! Be a new $600 windows OS out before they fix half the issues in vista. Why do we need Vista? WE DON'T!!! Software Dev's and HW is far behind. MS need to open its ears to what costumers want and need or it will be there downfall.
Computers / Re: Is Linux Problem Free? Why All The Windows Bashing? by socrates08: 9:07am On Nov 05, 2007
Humans are not perfect so what we make is the same. Still puts windows to shame.

Most PC problems are caused by the user. There is no need at all for vista at this time. More mem, eye candy and dx10 is what I recall. dx10 hack for xp is out or will be soon. I just wish they would fix XP! But its MS and instead of fixing xp they release a new OS and charge us double the xp price. Then they say "vista only has half as many problems as xp when first released" and "took 10,000 people 5 yrs to create vista".  I don't see how thats even close to a 100,000,000 hr product. Sound good and some will take the bait.

Linux has a steeper learning curve than windows. Uses less resources and very stable. Not hard, just everything is new and unfamiliar. Network setup can be a pain depending on distro. The com line is where many shy away. Learning the basic commands is not that bad. Kinda reminds me os dos x C+ on the juice. File structure takes some getting used to. Biggest drawback is driver, or lack of any. If PC was made in the last yr don't waste you time. Older HW, 2 yrs+, will usually be supported. Check the list of supported hardware. Linux is not for gaming. Great for servers. Boot from CD, no HD and runs fine.

Just DL a Bootable img to play with without removing xp(I assume). Create a multi boot options drive to run both from same drive. Understand this and know how? PClinux is good for 1st timers. UBUNTU is also good.

DL here. If a gamer get supergamer otherwise get big daddy.

Best OS I've used this year is by far the MAC! Like Linux the lack of HW support is an issue.

"One commonly accepted incentive for the systemic over-reporting of corporate income which came to light in 2002 was the granting of stock options as part of executive compensation packages. Since stock prices reflect earning reports, stock options could be most profitably exercised when income is exaggerated, and the stock can be sold at an inflated profit.Newspaper and television journalists have hypothesized that the stock market downturn of 2002 was precipitated by reports of accounting irregularities at Enron, Worldcom, and other firms in the United States."

Awake yet?

Inlighten this "half knowledge" dumb arse born yesterday primal thinking noob! Plz?

Or shall I explain how, why and the grey area created by setting up front corporations, partnerships, LLC's, corporate personhood,  artificial entities, collectives, companies, co-ops, corporations sole, estates of deceased persons, European economic interest groupings (EEIGs), flow-through entities (FTEs), municipalities, natural persons, political action committees (PACs), trade unions, trusts, fraud, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, unincorporated associations, corporate manslaughter and all that fun stuff.

"Enron did not take advantage of loopholes"
Limited partnerships were created to hide debt and losses. Loophole, cooking books, fraud to name a few.

"SweetT, where did you gather such an unfounded allegations that all companies tweak their financial report"
Not all but many. Guess you don't watch CNBC or Bloomberg much.

Stocks go up or down here. So Nigerian stock go left and right? Doesn't matter. Just be diversified so when one sector falls another will hopefully go up. Its just a form of gambling. Better odds and quicker returns siting at a Vegas black jack table or sporting bets.

Need to diagnose the problem for us cause we no long make house calls. Wait! She a looker? grin

3 times a day every day for next 60 days. Take vitamins. Lay on back with butt in air afterwards for 5-10 mins. If nada, both go see doc. Fert pills work but may turn the crib into a daycare. Use if all else fails. Planning will just make both of you worry and dissapointed. Hope not, but plans are made for corprite takovers.

Look him in the eyes and say "hey lil boys! Yes, both of you! Time for you to go to work."(he may like it, dunno ) Tell him what to do.

Make it fun cause in 9 months your lives will change forever! But its all good change. Watching then grow is the best! The 3am diper changes are, ew, but will make you smile later in life. Worth every second. GL!

Business / Re: Be Careful About Buying These Banks Stocks! by socrates08: 12:53am On Nov 05, 2007
Are you equating cooking the books with taking advantage of loopholes??
Called the "grey area" and why we need lawyers that turn 3 sentences into 10 pages on both sides and single spaced. Had a trust formed in 1996 and last year another thief couldn't decipher the jargon, nor a judge. The guy who wrote the thing couldn't even explain the document to me. Still billed me $3K to read what he wrote! Bastards!  Why make it that way? Creates a "grey area".  $250/hr for what? Talking on the phone? To me none the less.

CPA's make the numbers add up to what they are told to put in the bottom line. Paid very well to create numbers. Even quarterly estimates are inflated do drive the stock up. Hey! Its the American way!

Nigerian, banks and IPO's. Thats all I need to hear. Invest in Nigerian companies if you don't like money. Who is looking over there shoulder like the trade commission does in the US? Been e-mail's going around the past yr claiming 300% gains or so from Nigerian companies. The whole lot of current spam mail and scams are traced back to Nigeria. Not a wealthy country either which is a red flag. Old school saying, If it smell like shit, looks like shit, guess what, its shit!  Don't be a fool!

I made my first million at age 25. Then 99-00. Lost everything and was in debt. Cost me 1.4m to learn why stocks ruin lives. IRS showed me no pitty, graced me with high intrest. Thanks USA! We are a free county, free to pay taxes!

IPO's have the most risk.  Most fail the first year. Don't buy until they prove themselves in that first year. They just chapter 11 one IPO to create another. Class action suit may give a small % back. Maybe 25%(lmao high %) of the original value if lucky enough to have only a few file a claim. Most get jack from CA suits. Then leave investors with worthless leftover paper. Must have used a disapering scroll on the money. More like a transfer money spell to a bank account.

American Home Morgage(AHM) just bent me over last month.  Maybe Sept.  A lil KY would have been nice. Geez! Around $30 to 50 cents overnight! Whats that? The tooth fairy?

Anyone who says the "market is saturated", "is going up" or "enron is the only guilty company" needs to keep there $ in there pocket. Can anyone see the future? If you can, throw me a bone!! Enron is only the most recent big co. to get caught and not the first. History always repeats itself. Goggle it! Guessing what the market will do is just nuts! Nobody knows whats up until they lose everything. Why does that sound familiar?

A wise man once said
I am not an experienced investor but I don't do IPO
. Buy the time shares are available to us, we're a day late and a dollar short. The money has already made and will be cashed in soon. That $2 stock is now worth 50 cents and will not move up anytime soon and likely to go steadily down hill.

I choose my stocks like so,
Been around for 10 yrs or more
Pay good dividends. 8% is enough but look for 10% or more.
Good history of raising dividends every yr or so
BIG names like altria, Wells Fargo and Haliburton.
Cheap stocks have more risk and I avoid them with a rare exception.
READ the accountings for past 10 yrs. In debt? In the green? Red? Increase from last yrs gain/loss? Investments? 52wk high/low? Shares outstanding? PE? Insider trades?
The Dow price or any index will not make you any real money. Index funds? LOL! Has little effect on the good companies that wont drop far before its at fare mkt value.
Diversify then diversify even more. 2 or more from each sector. Software is ok but no tech stocks or mutual funds. One retail, maybe. Nothing overseas unless a global fund.
Be patient and not greedy. Its monopoly money unless its sold. 10% gain, I cash in.
Don't overlook bonds. REIT's when in season.
Don't listen to Cramer's boo-ya picks but read his book!
8-12% a year for past 4 using this system.

For safe and never go down investments, Real Estate is where the real money is! Not residential. Trump's main profession is, ?

When you drink everyday and put things off or just say F it because of a buzz. 1-2 beers or glasses of wine is ok a few days a week. More than 1 beer an hr is over the legal limit. Ask yourself if you drink because you like the taste or want to get drunk buzz. It can make you look older than your age. Wrinkles come early in life. Bad for you! Hard stuff should be banned.
