“We’ll meet at Lekki round-about!” That was a policeman threatening a conductor this morning at CMS, Lagos. The conductor in question refused him a free ride to work. Something he was never refused of. I don’t know who wrote the code, but here in Lagos, men and women in uniform are “entitled” to a free ride when on their duty uniform. Habits have a way of playing a trick on the human mind. When it becomes a frequent occurrence, the mind becomes accustomed to believing that what is in the habit should be a normality. Many businesses today are stuck at the set up stage and suffer from the lack of customers. When this persists owners of such businesses will become suspicious of the now popular village people. Far from it. This is not a doubt on the potency of juju. This equally is not an endorsement of it’s potency, but one thing is certain. “Every business relies on the owner's knowledge to either grow or strut down.” For this reason, Techpointng is organizing Techpoint Build. An event meant to bring start-up business owners together under a platform where they’ll learn business secrets that have made businesses who were once like theirs succeed and staying strong. Among the array of panelists is Thank U card’s Simeon Ononobi, who’ll share insights about Thank U card. The Journey so far. The wins, the loses and the future. Date is tomorrow, Saturday 27th of January 2018. Venue is Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Attendance is free, but you need to register here>> https://build.techpoint.ng/register/ The Thank U card team will also be there live. So make sure to locate our stand and do have a chat with the Thank U geeks. No, it’s not Lekki round-about, let’s meet at Victoria Island. Will you come? |

One major reason that may be hindering your sales growth is this, "You're into many things at a time." When I advice some of my clients to cut on the number of services they sell to customers, they get annoyed. But that doesn't call for anger. It's the simple truth. Buyers find it hard to make a choice when presented with a lot of choices. Remember those days in the university when you had to attend up to eight lectures concurrently in a day? What was your immediate retention level for all those classes you attended? Let me guess. You felt overwhelmed with information that you were unable to immediately remember 50% or more of the contents. You were only able to internalize those lectures after you've devoted time to reading the lecture notes one after another. True? This is the same for your customers. A research by Sheena Iyenger on consumer behaviour found that if buyers are bombarded with too many choices they won't choose at all. Participants in her research were at different times presented with 2 sets of table containing 6 and 24 jams respectively. 40% of people stopped by the the table with 6 jams on them, while 60% stopped at the table containing 24 jams. 30% bought from the tables with 6 jams on them, while a meagre 3% purchased from the table of 24 jams. These buyers loved the more choices option, but froze when it was time to buy, because they were confused on which was best for them. They were overwhelmed with alternatives and couldn't make a choice at all. But this can be remedied. The solutions: #1. Cut Less is more. Cut on the number of offering choices you're presenting the public. You can separate them from each other and sell each differently. Instead of selling health-care, food, real estate lumped together; create different brands for each and sell. #2. Categorize Dr. Iyenger suggests, categorizing your offerings into niche related offers. This helps the buyer easily choose what to buy without being overloaded with unsorted information. Share your thoughts. 1 Like |

Good evening house. I got a fairly used HP 4530s probook 4 days ago. Today, I accidentally spilled water on it. I swiftly disconnected the battery and power cord. I also cleaned up the surface. After like 5 minutes I turned it on, and it came on. When it came on the keyboard is functioning, but the touchpad is partially functional. I switched it off. But when I tried switching it back on, the power button shows some light and goes off again. While the screen refuses to come on at all. What could be the problem now. And can it be repaired? Please help. |

A business isn't prospering when it doesn't: Set goals, achieve goals, or have a means of measuring success. Remember SMART? S - Specific M - Measurable A - Attainable R - Realistic T - Time - bound You can read my post on how to set SMART business goals here >> https:///qzp6CU When you've set SMART goals for your business, the next step is to come up with (marketing) tactics and tools that'll help achieve them. For example, let's say your SMART goal for October 2017 is to generate 10 clients for your business, you'll need to list out the tactics and tools that will help you achieve that. In marketing there are majorly two sets of tactics and tools. - Online and off-line tactics and tools. In the online marketing spectrum where I play, the social media, search engine optimization, content (Video, text, audio, photos), use of influencers, e-mail marketing and other tactics play major roles in helping to achieve SMART business goals. All these should be written down on a strategy sheet. When you are done with setting SMART goals, outlined your tactics and drawn your budgets. Setting of KPIs is next. Let's discuss this later. Shall we?
