Politics / Biafra: IPOB Calls For Sack Of Nigerian Military Spokesman by sparrow253: 5:43pm On Sep 16, 2017
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called for the dismissal of Defence Spokesman, John Enenche, claiming he deceived the public by
declaring them a terrorist group.

Eneche made the declaration, citing the “formation of a Biafra secret service, militant possession and use of weapons as well as physical confrontation of troops” as part of reasons for the declaration.

But IPOB have accused him of usurping the roles and responsibilities of the judiciary, arguing that he had no legal backing.

“This declaration is not only judicially provocative and belligerent, the Idoma-born army officer acted beyond the mandate of the Nigerian army as specified in sections 10 & 11 of CAP A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (L.F.N.) 2004 and in section-217(2) of the Nigerian fraudulent constitution,” read a statement by Emma Nmezu and Clifford Iroanya, who identified themselves as spokespersons of the organisation.

“Recall that on March 1, 2017, the Honourable Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of the federal high court, Abuja declared in her ruling that IPOB is not an unlawful society/organisation.

“Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako gave her judgment having studied the conditions for an organisation to be deemed unlawful as stipulated in section-62 of CAP C38 L.F.N. 2004.

“Up till this day, that ruling from Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako has not been upturned by any court.
“And for this reason, Major-General John Enenche (though a Biafran from Idoma land) must be dismissed from the Nigerian army, arrested and brought to trial in the court of Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako.”

They added that what constitute the “acts of terrorism” are given in the terrorism (prevention) Act of 2011, where “section 2 stipulated that only a judge can declare an organisation proscribed based on proven case of acts of terrorism and such case will be presented to the judge through an application made by the attorney-general or the national security adviser or the inspector general of police with the approval of the president. The judge’s declaration will thereafter be gazetted”.

“The questions that now beg for answers are: (1) Does the director of defence information (DDI) of the Nigerian army (Major-General John Enenche) fall into any of the three categories of persons that should make an application to a Judge to declare IPOB a terrorist organization?” they asked.

“(2) Which judge did the DDI make such application to and was it approved by the president prior to submitting the application?

“(3) Where is the approval given to the DDI by the judge?

(4) When and where was the Judge’s declaration gazetted?”

“In particular, this deceitful act is a violation and interference into the judicial arm of government and it is an overreach. It is also a deliberate act in contempt of a subsisting ruling in a competent court of law.

“IPOB, whether led by Nnamdi Kanu or led by the DOS, is not a terrorist organization because no court of competent jurisdiction has so declared it. The so-called declaration by Major-General John Enenche is null and void and of no effect.”

Crime / 10 Nigerians Arrested For Alleged Fraud In India by sparrow253: 10:16am On Sep 14, 2017
A gang of ten Nigerians have been arrested by Indian police in connection to a fake fund transfer case.

The suspects were arrested after the victim, a Delhi nurse duped of Rs 9.37 lakh reported the case to police.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mahesh M Bhagwat, confirming their arrest said, ” November last year, the victim, aged around 36 years and working as a nurse in a hospital in Secunderabad, received an ‘add friend’ request on her Facebook profile from one “Agustin Williams.”
“After befriending the woman, the man told her he wants to send her cash and expensive gifts.

To receive these gifts he asked her to deposit “registration fee”. She accepted his request. The person chatting with her on the Facebook messenger introduced himself as Williams, staying at Northern Ireland and working as a pastor.

“After chatting with her for 2-3 months, he told her he wanted to help her by sending a gift box containing USD 50,000 besides an I-Phone, watch and gold through courier, the commissioner said, quoting from a complaint filed by the nurse.

“On March 15 this year, she received a phone call and the caller identified himself as a customs officer working at the Delhi airport and told her to deposit Rs 27,500 in a bank account as registration fee to collect the courier.

“After that, she received many calls asking her to deposit money in different bank accounts citing various reasons such as customs clearance charges, money laundering certificate, RBI clearance, anti-terrorism clearance and fund transfer charges to collect the courier.

“Over a period of time, they (the accused) collected Rs 9.37 lakh from her under previous pretext. As their demand for money continued, she got suspicious and approached the Cyber Cell of Rachakonda Commissionerate recently.

“Based on her complaint, a case under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act was registered and an inquiry was launched. Based on technical/electronic evidence collected during the investigation, the fraudsters’ place of residence was traced in South West Delhi.

“A team of the Rachakonda police raided their premises last week and arrested the 10 Nigerians, including the prime accused Williams, and brought them to Hyderabad,” the senior police official said.

Sports / Why We Lost To South Africa- Rohr by sparrow253: 10:43pm On Jun 10, 2017
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has admitted his side lacked the killer instinct and experience, after they were defeated 2-0 by South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

Two second half goals courtesy of Tokelo Rantie and Percy Tau, saw Stuart Baxter’s side claim a famous away victory.

It’s Bafana Bafana’s first ever win over Nigeria in a competitive match.

“Nobody is happy with the result but in some negative result there are some positives,” Rohr said during his post-match interview.

“And we have to search for them. The first goal we conceded was a counterattack from the right flank and the second goal was a gift.

“My young team played a very good first half. They played well but they didn’t score and in the second half we knew that the experienced team of South Africa could be dangerous and counter us and that was what happened.
“We had difficulties to finish the game they made so many efforts. Some of our players were tired to we tried to put in some attacking players to bring in some power in the attack but it was not enough.

“We knew they were unbeaten in the last 17 games now 18. I believe that this game we made progress with my young team of an average age of 24 years. The youngest team in Africa. This game they will learn and not repeat the same mistakes.

“We controlled the game until the goal they conceded.

“You know with a young team where all is good it’s wonderful, when it’s difficult they become nervous and that was the case today.
“But I trust in these players because theg played well in the first half.

“I don’t want give excuses for the missing players. It’s right we missed some big players to score the goals.

“The game against Cameroon will be much better.”

Libya tops Group E with three points, following their 5-1 win over Seychelles. Baxter’s men are in second place on goals difference, while Nigeria is third with no points.

Education / Is 2017 The Worst Jamb Registration Year???... by sparrow253: 1:11pm On Mar 27, 2017
Jamb registration for 2017/2018 academic session has left many students in confusion and stranded..

Earlier this year jamb announced their intentions of curbing examination malpractice in the UTME by allowing registration to be conducted by their accredited registration centre and not by the old means of registration that every one was familiar with , that is through cyber cafes..

This was thought to bring development to the academic sector of Nigeria, but this in turn has brought many complains ,waste of time and energy and also very slow registrations...

Like in Many parts of the state in the federation, Students are either complaining of no Registration centre in their towns ,or they are complaining that the banks used by this registration centres are finding it difficult to vend E-PINS for registration. Some are also complaining that some registration centres mal treat students who came to register and also Some registration centres increased the fees instead of the #5,500 for form and #700 as fee for the centres.....

Inspite of this complians by nigerian students , Jamb has refused to act about it.

I think that they should visit all the registration centres to inquire about the state of their success and also solve problems that they are facing since this is their first year of trying this method .....

#i wish myself and other students a successful registration and exam success..
