NYSC is treated as employment and sits under personal history if and only if you are not claiming employment points for the time spent doing the NYSC. However, if you are claiming employment points for NYSC, then you have to move it to work history and please note that you will be required to provide a reference letter from your employer.

All the best!

Thanks Ehrnie, I am not claiming any point for it.

Good job you are doing out there.

My People Post ITA,

How is NYSC period treated;

1. Work history or Personal history?
2. employment, educational activity or government?

your advice would be highly appreciated.

Why not wait and get the new passport since u said d passport will b out in 2 months from now,i guess that should be in mid-June. U still have 90 days to submit which will lapse in July. Wait , do it right & get ur PR rather than u getting rejected by 1 overworked Consular officer.

Thanks a lot buddy, would try and get other stuff sorted and just simply chill till the Passport is out before I hit the submit button. except that I am worried that if I don't submit before my birthday in June.... it may affect my ITA.

Dear All,

I got my ITA on Wednesday after the last draw. But here are my questions and my worries.

1. My passport Expires in September 2017 and I have till July to submit my application at which point my passport would be less than three months to expiration. Hopefully by this time in May I should have submitted my application. My question here is that can I still use my current passport details? Although I have applied for a new one but was told that I may not receive it till the next two months due to scarcity of passport booklet being experienced Nationwide now in Nigeria.

2. If the new passport is not out till the period that the ITA would expire, what option do I have?

3. My current passport expires in September and hopefully by then without delay and if everything goes well... I should have gotten the visa. If I input the details of my current passport now. Will it be possible to change it later when the new passport arrives?

I hope I made sense with my questions. Your candid opinion would very well be appreciated

Hi -

Once all you forms are completed, a personalised checklist is generated. As mentioned earlier, personalized checklist is dynamic and some of the entries in the list change based on the information that you have provided in the previous sections of e-APR e.g work experience letters. When you have gathered all documents that were requested in your Personalized Checklist, you should upload them using the "upload file" tab in your Document checklist page. Note that document upload section comes towards the end of the e-APR submission process and allows for only 1 file to be uploaded for each section. So if you have multiple documents that pertain to the same section, then you should scan and merge your documents into 1 file.

Once you have uploaded all requested documents, the system will take you to pages related to Declaration, Disclosure and Electronic signature. "Agree" to the Declaration, Disclosure and Electronic signature pages and you will see a table with summary of fees that you need to pay for your e-APR. You have two hours to complete the payment. You can pay your fees using Visa, American Express or Mastercard credit card.

All the best!

Can you pay using for instance GTbank Dollar MasterCard?

What happens if you do not pay within two hours? shocked

Gurus in the house.

I understand that NYSC Service year causes some sorta confusion and could complicate your application. Where is it best explained... Work history or personal History or is it best not spoken about at all?

What would you advice?

I would appreciate swift response house.

Rgds.

Hi

The ITA letter clearly addressed the issue of age post ITA. Please check the section on Changes to your personal situation (page 2)

"NOTE- If you had a birthday since we sent you this invitation, and the changes to your age decreases your points total, this will not cause us to refuse your application for permanent residence'.

Please focus on submitting your applications and be happy. grin

Seen, Thanks a lot. it was right under my nose and I didn't see it.

▼ Exemption to section A11.2: candidates whose birthday occurs after they receive an ITA

An applicant may have a birthday after they receive an ITA but before they submit their e-APR. Their change in age may lower their CRS score below the lowest score in the round of invitations. It may also result in the applicant no longer meeting the minimum requirements of the FSWC and, consequently, no longer meeting the MEC, resulting in a refusal based on section A11.2.

When a change in age results in the candidate no longer meeting the MEC or having their recalculated CRS points score fall below the lowest points score in that round of invitations, officers should consider applying the public policy to exempt applicants for permanent residence from certain age-based requirements between invitation to apply and application, based on section A25.2. This consideration can result in an exemption from the refusal of an application under section A11.2.

This public policy also grants an exemption to applicants who may be refused for failing to meet FSWC program requirements when their birthday occurs between the ITA and e-APR

My people what is this trying to say or implying?

Your questions have been addressed many times on this forum and as recently as the last few pages. It may be tiring to be addressing the same set of questions over and over again.

Weldone Sir, however, your first sentence would have sufficed as a response.....no need to be condescending... just saying

If you have at least a BSc, you may not need to bother yourself with evaluating ICAN and CIPM. My wife had to abandon her ICAN assessment with WES. See a comment by G.arykasparov in the link below

Hello Everyone

Please I need some help concerning my application for an Canadian express entry.
I submitted my profile on the 21st of sept 2016. The profile score is 426.
My job changed in November 2016 to a higher role.
I'm aware that I need a higher score to get an ITA but I don't know what to do now. Do I withdraw my application and reapply so that my current role can contribute to increasing my score, cos my understanding is that it's my experience as at the time of applying that counts. In summary I'm looking for ways to boost my score. I have a UK masters degree and a Nigerian Bsc. I was also a finance officer for 3 yrs, 1 yr customer service agent, 2 yrs was a credit controller/customer relationship manager. I'm now 5 months on my current job as the Head of customer service. My IELTS score is 8.

You can always update your profile anytime as long as you have not been extended an ITA. you may not need to cancel existing profile and reapply.

@Thesoj, I have read couple of your responses, and I must say they have very informative given your objective view points;

I have a few questions, although seem like it might have been addressed but kindly indulge me.

I got B.Sc in International relations from OAU in 2007....went for my NYSC 08/09 and started working as a Human Resource person from 2010 till date...I have worked in like 3 companies...in between I got an MBA also from OAU in 2012/14.(part time).

I am 36yrs, married with a kid. I developed interest to go for an M.Sc program in Canada...I applied to a few schools but wasn't admitted....I realized it was because of my 2.2 grade level.

So after couple more research, I stumbled on VIU dual program....MBA/M.Sc in International Business which I thought was interesting( kill two birds with a stone)....however I realized that with my 2.2, I couldn't be admitted unless I go for their one year POst Degree Diploma in Business which would afford me direct entry in the MBA/MSc dual program.

Here are my questions;

Would you advice that I stay silent on my MBA achievement from OAU, so I don't complicate my application for a study permit for a PDDB, a seemingly lower program even though the ultimate goal is the dual MBA/M.ScIM program?

My second question is that my wife would be my sponsor as she currently earns A LOT more than I do, she can conveniently show proof fund for the entire program with the MBA program inclusive...will it be out of place if stands as my sponsor?

I see a lot of questions about which is the best mode of application between paper and online...does one have advantage over the other?

I bet that these questions might have been addressed in past threads but kindly indulge me. Thanks.

By the way, I applied and got admission into the Post Degree Diploma in Business program. To begin in the fall of 2017.

A PGC/PGD is higher than a BSc. Having said that, it appears that CIC has now raised the bar for PGC/PGD approvals, while MSc approvals don't seem to be scrutinized in the same way. I agree that it is possible to get a TRV for a program below your highest educational attainment, but this is the exception and not the norm.

Very helpful... Thanks a great deal.
abujaniv:

Thanks for your message. We cannot prejudge cases, nor give anyone advice on their "chances". Travelling to give birth is a valid use of a B visa - however, travellers wishing to do this should be prepared to demonstrate they have a legitimate medical appointment in the US, reasonable estimates of cost, and the means to pay these costs in full. Also, keep in mind that a visa merely grants the right to apply for entrance to the U.S. at a port-of-entry (such as an airport). The Customs and Border Police at the airport make the final decision regarding entrance.

Hi VO, I stumbled on this forum and i thought it was a laudable initiative...well done.

However permit me to also tap into the benefit of a direct- from- source response from the US Consulate.
I applied for a student visa twice about 11 years ago to study in the US(to be sponsored by my late Uncle) but was unfortunately denied, couldnt fathom why actually. I very well moved on, got admission into a Naija university...I am married now, got a good job and i am happy.

My wife before we got married was issued a US visa(tourist) and did travel.....Interestingly, she is pregnant now and we both thought that it would not be bad to give birth to our child in the US...we are financially fit to bear all the cost. mostly by my wife cos she earns a lot more than I do..

My concern now is if this will not count against her future visa renewal cos the visa she has was for her to visit the US then...it is still valid though and we though we could use it for to go back and give birth. what would u advice.

My second concern is that i also intend to travel with her, unlike her i do not currently have a visa hence the need to apply...although i have had to travel to countries like South Africa, Turkey, Germany and other Schengen countries but given my refusal history at the US embassy...what are the chances that i may not have any difficulties? I also intend to state that my reason for the trip is to be with my wife as she gives birth...will it be a fair reason?

Thanks once again and God bless.
