Thanks for the response. The difference between my case and @divide us is that my husband is resident in the US hence the question of being treated as a potential immigrant when i declare this at the POE.

Hello staa,

You should check out what we just said to @DivideUs!

Please can i travel for the purpose of birthing to the USA with my B1/B2 visa. though my husband is a United States Citizen but yet to file for me because i do not want to relocate out of the country yet. Dear vo,please is it possible to travel to the US with a non-immigrant visa for the purpose of birthing so my husband can be present and I get a better care while a pending spousal immigrant application is ongoing my husband is a US citizen and resides there. The visa was granted when I was single and have used it to visit my husband twice. Birthing in Nigeria alone isn't something I want to experience as I can get maternity leave and my husband can't get paternity leave off work. Thank you on your anticipated response.

Amother4life:

This made absolute sense...one of the best things anyone has said to me,people are constantly talking if the negatives of relocation .

You don't need to start from scratch with your degrees.
All you need to do is get in touch with an accredited credential evaluation service and as the name implies they will help evaluate your degrees for higher education or employment purposes. You can then seat for MCAT,GMAT, LSAT, or GRE. I have friends who have successfully completed their Masters degree after having their naija ones evaluated and writing one of these exams. Another is working in a bank after her Degree in banking and finance was evaluated. She is now combining both work and a higher degree. So, my dear you definitely don't have to start from scratch if you don't want to.

The lifestyle and earning power of a nurse in the United States cannot even be compared to that of a Bank Mgr in Nigeria excluding stolen funds of course. Do we even realize how much taxes these people pay compared to the peanuts some pay back home? If we were made to pay for the real value of services in Nigeria the poverty rate would be close to 98%. Let's face the obvious...if Nigeria was better we would not be subjecting ourselves to Insults by overzealous CBP officers at POE. Until we are able to stem systemic corruption, build world class infrastructures and provide security for life and property Nigeria cannot be compared in anyway, shape or form with the United States with all her flaws. I would love to live in a country where my husband could change his flat tire on third mainland bridge without being robbed, kidnapped or shot.I hope with these few points of mine I have been able to convince you distinguished panelists that it naija we still can't call the police for an emergency but they are sure to be around when it's checkpoint time grin

@aadeg you Just stated my exact fears ..difficult situation that only the person in it can understand. Hubby hates Nigeria with a passion. Going to America means starting from level zero even with all the Nigeria degrees. At the end of the day may God help us .

I really appreciate all your responses, I do not intend to relocate from Nigeria yet that's the reason I cherish my visiting visa so I can always travel. Just like someone said the insurance did not accept because I don't have social security no. (By usc I mean us citizen ) am just being careful because hubby wants me to relocate even though I still have the fear of the unknown reservation .can I take some cash to be on the safe side and let them know am paying the bills at the poe and avoid the question of my hubby being a usc or just tell them short vacation instead of child birth .Am making this personal enquiries for my selfish interest because I still have sentimental attachment to my Nigeria .

Dear fam, is it advisable to write the embassy on childbirth in the us when you are married to a usc who resides in the us, I fear they might cancel my visa and ask that he files for me.another question is are we meant to pay for child birth even though he pays taxes. Am due in July and want to leave for the US next month though my visa was gotten as a single lady before I got married and have used it twice .please advise .

Dear Vo,thanks for your wonderful job here, please is it true that non immigrant visa gotten prior to marriage will be cancelled when my husband files for my immigrant visa,as he is a citizen and resident of the United States. I still want to be using my visa for vacations to visit my spouse pending the outcome of the immigrant visa. This has caused a delay in the filing,i got married here in Nigeria last year November, court, traditional and church wedding. I don't want my visa canceled. Kindly respond

Good day vo, i got married in September last year to a US citizen, prior to that i had an american visa which i used 3 times.I live and work in nigeria and my husband will like me to have our baby in the US this year,i will like to know if having our baby in the US on his insurance will affect my future visa application.Because i do not intend to leave nigeria anytime soon. I also believe his filing for me might debar me from getting a visa for sometime if my visa expires, and my job might take me anywhere at any time. Kindly enlighten me VO.God bless you

Good day house..i was advsed to seek expert opinion on this thread, would really appreciate if i can get one...
I applied for a UK visa in 2010 as a petty trader before i started working but i was refused because i didnt have a tax clearance, registration of biz n all that..i didnt bother reapplying because it was just a try ur luck thin and i wassnt ready to register any biz for visa purpose. however i got a job the following month with a total annual emolument of over 4million naira..Prior to 2010 refusal have been to Dubai,SA,and some african countries like 5tyms den afterwards i went to SA and Dubai once each...I decided to apply this year for my annual leave but got a refusal. It was so surprising because they had no issue with my finances. they simply said u claim u work with...... and earn ....,you have no family commiment,u propose to travel alone as a tourist and stay at a hotel, you state u have no friends in d UK. Given the statements you made and documentary evidence. i am not satisfied that your circumstance in nigeria are as shown your intentions bla bla bla.. pls sm1 help me out as i intend to reapply, was i refused because am single
