Then I must have been misled too because I always thought of it as an unnecessary extravagance to have spent tens of billions on independent celebrations by any administration, GEJ especially.

Education / Re: PICS Look At What We Killed In Our Hostel by stag: 8:40am On Nov 25, 2015
People who see these rare creatures should always endevour to indicate what part of the country/exact location the animals are being sighted. It had eggs, so a male is somewhere around. Biologists/Zoologists can comb the area. There is probably a nocturnal community of them.

Psalmpy, where was this animal seen?

When one person sees a strange animal, it rarely occurs to him to kill it and roast until someone else joins him. Mob mentality. A group of people are always ready to kill. Anything. Even fellow human.

christejames:
I think it's Iguana... Happy chopping!
I think matured iguanas are bigger than this. For this one to be laying eggs, then I think this is its matured stage.
Yet, I don't think its monitor lizard or any of those. A zoologist around can help classify it better.

Mob mentality asks no rational questions. Just maim, destroy and kill.

Crime / Re: British Couple Keep A Nigerian As 'A Slave' For 24 Years (PICTURED) by stag: 2:06pm On Nov 18, 2015
politricks:
O my God!! I did not expect the kind of names i saw there. Later we would start blaming the whites for slavery.

After reading and seeing pictures about slave trade, I concluded that Africans were the ones who showed the Europeans that they can deal slavery.

African kings had slaves as a sign of wealth and power. Dedicated slaves who have no other lives than being slaves in the palace all their lives.
These kings probably had given the initial slaves as gifts... Then he returned and offered to pay for more.

I doubt they just landed on African soil and started carting people away as slaves.

We are the originators of our problems, our own enemies.

A lot of times, I have noticed much to my dismay how good or confident I feel about myself is tied closely to how much my whole ensemble is worth.... Thats why I would nearly have a Cardiac arrest if I am about to tlk to a girl and I notice her phone is more high end than mine, I lose my confidence and walk off.

I look forward to the day when I would have fully shed away every vestiges of consumerism from my life because, SIMPLE a great many times could be MORE.

The bold is a thing worthy of note.

Health / Re: Unfortunate Deaths In Our Hospitals; A Nurse's Perspective by stag: 12:36pm On Nov 07, 2015
dicefrost:

Nobody works 24hrs. We shud have had 4 drivers, doing shifts and working weekends. But the government employed only one! Shall we make him work 24hrs?

It was a private hospital.

Its no rocket science that nobody works 24hrs, I was obviously talking about the need for more than a driver attending to the ambulance. Emergency can happen at any time of the day.

Op, I would have loved to agree with you in all of this except one thing:

Why do hospitals have 24hrs standby ambulances but have only 8am-4pm drivers. Emergencies do not occur at night?
A friend's father died in an hospital at about 1pm on a sunday and they needed ambulance to take the body to a morgue, the hospital said without thought nor remorse:
"Our driver does not work on Sundays"!

How ridiculous! Emergencies do not occur on Sundays?

All these hospitals should just open at 8am and lock up at 4pm, Monday-Friday.

Episteme2:

This is not empty threat. They can stage a showdown in the Senate if they are not properly and carefully lobbied.

Same way APC touted 'simple majority' until PDP showed them politricks through Saraki's emergence. Again, not learning any lessons, they are here making misguided comments until PDP pulls another trick from their sleeves.

I think that Amaechi should not have danced publicly at the judgment of the Rivers State election tribunal. He should have remained under the radar for the dust around him to settle.

Even away from politics, you don't openly laugh at an enemy. You will inflame disgust that can drive the devil to work in him.

In politics, even an enemy is lobbied, for a favorable ending.

shocked A pregnant woman with a two year old baby went to protest? She fell into gutter and now is being used to score sentimental points?
If anything had happened to the little child or she had a miscarriage, what would they do? Blame it on Nigeria! Nigeria killed the unborn child! Ignoring the mother's stark stupidity.

Nigeria, please simply give Biafra to the easterners. We don't want another blood shed.

Saraki, Saraki, Saraki, Saraki, how many times did I call you. You have bitten more than what you can chew. You want to bit the figures that feed you. No one plays with the Jagaban and go free. The only advice I have for you is to try and make amend with Tinubu and everything will be over.

@ bolded: Unnecessary. If Saraki would do that, he would have done so before now. He is apparently calling anyone's bluff. And of everyone for that matter.
He's going through the trials already and if he comes out of it unscathed, he'd be more of a hero and increase the air of power around him. He would also have set precedence as the first Senate president to do so.

Its not necessary he dances to Tinubu's drums.

I am not a fan of Tinubu but I feel he is being betrayed by Buhari, its rather unfair. Same unfair was the way Jonathan was treated out of office.

Although Tinubu seems overbearing and needed to be trimmed into line, this flagrant disregard of him by the president is not very wise. Tinubu did more work than Obasanjo in the run up to the last election.

But then, again, you can not gather in a coven to pull a man down and expect not to be pulled down.
Just 6 months and they are divorcing, not even up to a year?

Such pity.
