Whether na Lager Back or Larger Becks our WC chances were doomed the day we allowed Amoflop to take eagles to Angola! We dont stand a chance no matter who we go with.

I think there was an honest mistake by the NFF, other nations sent thier NATIONAL TEAMS but Nigeria sent the NATIONAL DRAMA TROUPE! WE SENT PAPA AJASCO AND HIS CREW!  cheesy Ridiculous!
Sports / Re: Nigeria Name 24 For Angola 2010 by stanloski(m): 12:48pm On Jan 05, 2010
That amodu is now dropping eneramo (useless player) for obasi only further highlights the man's confusion. This means he has no idea how his team shd look like. I hope they do well but I somehow doubt it. Pray am wrong.

Edoyad posted:
Guys breaking news is that President Barak Obama has given the green light for the pentagon to allow the US Navy carrier, THE U S  ENTERPRISE to set sail
for the gulf of guinea. The ship is commanded by Admiral John Luke Picker and has the capacity for 46 fighter F22 jets and 27 F15 eagles.
For those who don't know the gulf of guinea is where Nigeria's coast is situated .

The above statement is a blatant falsehood!
I did a search on that John Luke Picker on the official US navy site and came up blank. Further the F22 and F15 are planes deployed by the US AIRFORCE not the navy and cannot be carried or operated off a Carrier. Am worried about the quality of posts on Nland these days. Too much drivel and uninformed alarmist posts.

Akeemos:

Stanloski, the question was actually meant for my good friend metal-Gong grin

The guy got on the freaking plane because he is on the payroll of the American but the CIA could be silly, sometimes I wonder why people are so full of praise for them, not to realize the mentality of a people, Nigerians might not have 24hours electricity supply but they would not do that. the script writer messed up big time.

I am really feeling you Lagos boy, u sure do have a great sense of connect and intuition. The handwriting is on the wall, the only solution here is for us to fight for our country because this might be a truly turning point in the history of our lives and more importantly, our future generation. Americans never expected nigeria to stand up to them as regards the AFRICOM thing, now they are getting those Niger Delta boys to get back at the Nation and they seem to have failed at least temp. on that front, now they  think they can sell the same storyline to the world as they did other countries to impose their people and their will. We would just have to show them that we are more intelligent than they are. Mutallab was just the Judas that almost disintegrated our country!!!!

I expect our media to be very sensible this time in report this and not just cull news  from the foreign wires for people,  Mutallab father is supposed to have given a press conference by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my bro i read u BUT- We have bigger problems dan afriwatever o! No presido, no light, no nuffin! CIA plot is the least of our problems, they can plot cos we have made our selves a rotten banana republic. And all the muslim haterz shd shove it! We dont need blanket condemnation! We argue that all 9jas are not bad and castigate the western press but we resort to the same ploy when it suits us. Lets think people!

What is it with the ridiculous denials here? He is a Nigerian national - till contrary evidence comes out he will be regarded as a Nigerian.

If you thought there were issues getting visas before now, it might get a lot worse after this.

My main concern is how did someone with 'significant terrorist' links get admitted on a plane or not subjected to stringent checks?

He was on the terrorist watch-list but but was not included in the "no fly" list. I think they goofed.

They should release a picture of this guy. Is he a ghost? Let us know where our problems are coming from. Has Yar'Adua been briefed?, because his counterpart Obama is in the known and has declared it an act of terrorism.

na him be dis. oga ur presido is in hospital, the only breifing he recieves is on the bags of drips so far administered

This is a nice debate and am gratified to see that no insults have been hurled (happens on most threads and puts me off)
I just wan to correct a popular misconception about our WC squad to USA 94. People often say that they players were in "top" clubs in europe. That is not exactly true. Check out the team list :

No. Pos. Player DoB/Age Caps Club
1 GK Peter Rufai 24 August 1963 (aged 30) Go Ahead Eagles
2 DF Augustine Eguavoen 19 August 1965 (aged 28) Kortrijk
3 DF Benedict Iroha 29 November 1969 (aged 24) Vitesse
4 DF Stephen Keshi 23 January 1962 (aged 32) Molenbeek
5 DF Uche Okechukwu 27 September 1967 (aged 26) Fenerbahçe
6 DF Chidi Nwanu 1 January 1967 (aged 27) Anderlecht
7 MF Finidi George 15 April 1971 (aged 23) Ajax
8 MF Thompson Oliha 4 October 1968 (aged 25) Africa Sports
9 FW Rashidi Yekini 23 October 1964 (aged 29) Vitória de Setúbal
10 MF Jay-Jay Okocha 14 August 1973 (aged 20) Eintracht Frankfurt
11 MF Emmanuel Amuneke 25 December 1970 (aged 23) Zamalek
12 FW Samson Siasia 14 August 1967 (aged 26) Nantes
13 DF Emeka Ezeugo 16 December 1965 (aged 28) Budapest Honvéd
14 FW Daniel Amokachi 30 December 1972 (aged 21) Club Brugge
15 MF Sunday Oliseh 14 September 1974 (aged 19) FC Liège
16 GK Alloysius Agu 12 July 1967 (aged 26) FC Liège
17 FW Victor Ikpeba 12 June 1973 (aged 21) Monaco
18 FW Efan Ekoku 8 June 1967 (aged 27) Norwich City
19 DF Michael Emenalo 14 July 1965 (aged 28) Eintracht Trier
20 DF Uche Okafor 8 August 1967 (aged 26) Hannover 96
21 MF Mutiu Adepoju 22 December 1970 (aged 23) Racing Santander
22 GK Wilfred Agbonavbare 5 October 1965 (aged 28) Rayo Vallecano

Apart from Ajax they others were all small clubs in a big league or big clubs in a small league. Our players moved to top clubs AFTER the world cup. They were just getting regular football at thier clubs. They were good players no doubt but they were not "big stars" before the world cup as some claim. In fact Yekini was playing in the second division but his goals propelled his club to the first division in th world cup season. The problem with our present team is that most of them are i small teams and STILL warm the bench so they are not even match fit.

Let the man go to ANC and WC. Sad thing for me is that we are going to the ANC and we are content to "play well" and are happy with "getting to the SF". It shows how low our confidence is. Really big shame.
Sports / Re: Osaze As Eagles Playmaker? Your Thoughts & Opinions. by stanloski(m): 12:48am On Dec 24, 2009
Finally somebody is thinking!
He has actually played the role before. He was the mf creator when nigeria played angola in the last gameof the ANC 2004 qualifier, game ended 2-2 he scored one and made one playing from AM.

He also saved our bacon in the 2006 WCQ in kigali vs rwanda, match ended 1-1, eagles looked down and out at 1-0 but osaze moved to the mf and things started happening, he released martins with a great defence splitting pass and it was 1-1. The facts show he is capable. people who argue against it dont know thier soccer history. Amodu obviously doesnt kno his history also.

Computers / Re: Globacom Submarine Cable - Glo-1 by stanloski(m): 11:30pm On Nov 24, 2009
I think they may be right THIS TIME. One of their staff working on the project confirmed launch will be by year end, test run is on right now. He promised to give me his modem to try.

When i asked him on the speed he simply said we can get video streaming (says it all i guess) he also warned that it wont be too good from the get go. (honest chap) I think glo would rush to roll out before mail-1 lands cos it will bring competition. I also hear two more cables are coming within the next two yrs. Lets just be patient, we've waited ages! wats a few months?
As for those 'stories' and "reports" they are actually press releases by glo. Our journalists often dont disclose that wat they are publishing is a release. Dont mind the comedians! company calls them together, shares coke and brown envelopes and sends them on their merry way
