As someone who benefited a lot from this platform, I’d like to state some things that might be useful for those applying now.
1. It is possible to do all your applications without using agents. Make this platform and google your friend, also try to read the thread from the beginning and ask questions.
2. Before making a choice on where to study, ask relevant questions. (Consider your budget, course, location, payment plan flexibility, job prospects etc).
3. Start your application on time to avoid last minute rush and constantly keep in touch with the school via emails and phone calls. If you send emails and don’t get a quick response, drop a voicemail on the phone number provided by the school.
4. Connect with the school on their official social media pages. This will help you send a DMs if they get too busy in respond to emails. Also connect with others that are applying to the same school to share ideas.
5. Try to secure your admission early and get your CAS so you can apply for your visa quickly.
6. If you have the funds, pay a large percentage of your tuition and don’t be so eager to jump at 1k and 2k deposits. Some students are getting stranded because of this.
7. If for any reason you can’t pay a large chunk of your tuition before traveling, have a concrete plan to come up with the remaining fees. These schools can frustrate you if you don’t pay up your fees.
8. Paying only 1k or 2k deposit out of 12-13k tuition with the hope of paying the remaining part when you get here is unrealistic & sometimes not very possible. Unless you have a sponsor, saved up enough money or going with your spouse that can work full time to support you, think twice about it.
9. While you’re planning to japa via school, remember to sharpen your mind for the actual school work. I’m saying this because people actually fail their masters and are unable to get their post study permit.
10. Look for intelligent people in you class and be friendly with them so you can rub minds with them. Join a study group if possible because studying in the UK is a totally different ballgame & I wish someone had counseled me before I arrived. It can be interesting but be ready to put in the work.
11. Make friends with resourceful people when you get here and find accommodation on time. Possibly sort out accommodation before leaving Nigeria especially if you’re coming in with children.
12. Don’t be discouraged to apply because you have been denied visa/visas before. Just be honest about it.

Success to everyone!

Hello,

Pls has anyone recently used form A to pay their tuition?
I’m already in the UK and I’ve applied for form A for more than 2months without any success. I need to pay the remaining part of my tuition as it is long overdue.

Good morning. I thought you said your biometrics was Dec 29, so how is Jan 24, 15 working days to them.
Na only God go save us from this people.
Did you send paid mail to ukvi?
The most important thing is you must send your employment details asap.

Yes, I sent them a paid email.
From what I understand the bank holiday we had before 29th might be causing the delays.
They’ve probably not been able to verify some account statements because 29th biometrics was right after the holidays. I’m just speculating and might be wrong.

Why are you confused? , send them the document that was requested to avoid further delay,
you applied on the 29 Dec. you should count 15 working days minus weekend and holidays and see if it match with their calculations.
if you had received NSF mail, just have it in mind your application is most likely to stay longer than 15 working days, whereas the outcome and speed depends on how fast you provide the additional documents or if they are trying to verify other documents that also depend on how fast the institution respond.

Thank you. I will send the documents to them today

I got this from UKVI again after I was asked yesterday to provide employment records an employer’s references.

I’m a bit confused, should I go ahead and send the references?

Please was this how it was stated on the mail sent by UKVI "employment records and employer references" or you shortened it yourself, I want to know because I also saw a mail where they indicated that the recipient should not attach CV as evidence cos it won't be acknowledged.

Let me quote them.
“ please provide the following documents:
Employment records and employer references for job(s) you have had since you were last in education (2015)”

when did you do your biometrics? You can send your NYSC certificate, get a reference letter from the company and add your CAC documents if you have. If you don’t have, write an introduction letter explaining what you’ve been doing since you stopped working for that company.

Should the reference letter be addressed to UkVI or it should just be to whom it may concern?

In my opinion you can add your nysc certificate to show you did something in 2016-2017.. if you have CAC documents in regards to your small business you can also attach it. If the ADHOC company is still in existence then ask them for a reference as well. When was your biometrics please?

Thank you for your response.
My biometrics was on the 29th

Thank you to all the contributors in here. Pls I need your advice.

I got a mail this morning from ukvi to provide employment records and employer references for the jobs I’ve had since my last time in education which was in 2015.

I left school in 2015 and went for service in 2016 and since I finished service in 2017. I’ve worked as an adhoc staff for a company between 2018 and 2019. The job terminated sometime in 2019 and I’ve been managing my own small business since then.
How do I go about this because I’m currently confused.

Please what’s the process of walk- in in Abuja , got there this afternoon and they said people that drop their name since yesterday are not in yet , some guy talk to me and told me he can help me but I need to pay him 42k and I will send him my appointment link , so he can change the date to Friday , please who know walk in process in Abuja

Try and go early tomorrow and write your name for walk-in. I followed the same process last week and succeeded on the 3rd day. The names are called each day so you have to be patient till it gets to your turn.

For the person asking you for 42k, someone like that meet me while I was there but I didn’t patronize them because I was wasn’t sure if they’re genuine so I waited till it got to my turn. Ask questions and try to put your name on the list

Abuja center is a sane place and seriously using walk in is a waste of fund, except in emergencies.
Do the regular, arrive on time.
No one harasses you or shun your enquiries in Abuja.

Abuja as from last week Monday has been crowded. Walk-in is not easy anymore, still better than Lagos tho

Congratulations odogwu. We'll join you soon ijn. Please, I got a date for Jan 4 for Abuja TLS and it's way late for me. Can I do walk-in after the xmass holiday? How's the Abuja TLS like? Are there crowd like Lagos? I'm based in Lagos and I wanna fly my family down there because we can't wait till January 4, school resumes 17th. I just need to know if I can do walk-in b4 then and if it worth the risk. I've sent you an email. Kindly respond. Thanks.

It’s best to use Abuja TLS. Although that place too is getting chocked up because of the rush hour. I’ve been going there for two days now.
I wrote my name on Wednesday on the walk-in list but it still didn’t get to my turn. The lady calling the names signed on our appointment forms yesterday because we were persistent and refused to go home. She promised they’ll attend to us first on the 29th when they resume

Now that I am seeing questions on where proof of funds came from. Please house I’m 23yrs old and I’m applying for my masters. I gathered the money left and right and my personal savings. Though I have proof of employment cos I work with a bank and I have my logistics business that I’m running. Please is this enough proof.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about as long as you have the required funds in your account

Dear all,
Good morning house and happy new month to us all. I asked a question a couple of pages back but I didn't get a clear answer probably due the way the question was framed. So I'll restructure it to make it clearer. I hold an unconditional offer from a university in the UK and I already paid deposit it I'm awaiting CAS subject to passing a PRE-CAS interview they called visa credibility interview. I had a practice session yesterday and one particular issue raised by the interviewer was that although I might have the required POF (which has already matured), i might still be asked to give evidence of how i came about such money. The interviewer told me my job and my salary earnings do not correspond with the POF thus I might have issues with financial credibility.

Now my question is can I mention a relative who is a UK citizen resident in the UK as my sponsor given that I can obtain a letter from her stating she's my sponsor with proof of her financial credibility. Also she was the one that paid my deposit. Please I'll appreciate fast answers as I'll be taking the pre-CAS interview today.

Thanks and God bless.

Cc Justwise

For me, my sister is the one funding my studies and I mentioned it during my credibility interview. They only said she should transfer the money to my account which she did. During the interview I also told them she would be paying my deposit directly from the US and they said it was ok. The deposit has been paid and I’m about getting my CAS.

I think you can mention that your relative is your sponsor but inform them that the money will be in your account.

Let the money be in her mom's account and you can be doing daily transaction on the account so far the exact amount needed for her tuition fee and maintenance didnt reduce ( I mean if the total fund she need is 10m, don't let the 10m decrease with 1naira)

I also have a question on POF.
My sister who is my sponsor has transferred the required money into my domiciliary account and I’ve already started counting my 28 days. My concern now is that no other transaction has been done on the account since it was opened apart from the transfer she made into the account.
I read where someone was talking about carrying out transactions on an account before printing your statement. if I should go with this advice and carry out any transaction, the required funds might reduce. Please I need clarification on this as there has been conflicting opinions. Some are of the opinion that money cannot just be transferred into your account without any further activity in that account

Hello everyone. Please any Birmingham city university applicant for January intake here. How long do they give out conditional offer. I applied to the school towards the end of September and I am yet to receive an offer.

The thing with Birmingham City University is that you have to email them frequently to get answers. Don’t relax thinking they will just answer you

Good morning.
I have a sister in the UK studying and I will be going by January too. Hope her status wont affect mine?? She is on a 2 years course program and all fees fully paid. Hope the fact shes their ans I will be going to the same school wont affect me.
Also, i have about 12million and will pay almost 2m as proof of fund meaning i will have about 10million after my 28 days or more. Hope 10 million is enough for me? I am going for a year study program.

I don’t think your sister studying in the uk should affect your chances as there is no law that forbids siblings from studying in the uk or the same school.

As for the required funds, it all depends on the amount of your school fees and the location of your school. Proof of funds for those studying outside London is a bit lesser than those studying in London. You can get more information by going to the beginning of this thread

I don't feel comfortable with any pre-CAS interviews

I was also worried about the pre-CAS interview till I did mine and to tell you the truth, there is no big deal.
One thing about the interview is that it prepares you for other things. If for example the VO decides to interview you for any reason, you will be ready
