Religion / Re: Why Do Many, Even Bible Scholars Say God Created "light" First - Is It True? by stokolie(m): 4:07pm On Jul 04, 2012
haibe:
Nice write up but if we want to conclude that the light God created in Gen 1:3 was from him, then we must be wrong, God himself is light and therefore does not need to say "let there be light" before there will be light.(If we conclude that way). He said let there be light and there was light, that light came into existence as a result of the word God spoke and that makes it a creation of God, the light of God is not created because God himself is light and therefore doesn't need to create something that already exists, God commanded light to shine out of darkness just simply means God spoke his word to bring light when there was no light(darkness is just a word used to describe absence of light). The light God created in gen 1:3 must be a created light(maybe Sun or not) but its not the light of God. Gen 3:16 as i think must be referring to how that light that was created in gen 1;3 was made into sun and moon(to make means to form by putting parts together or combining substances), so the sun and moon were made from that light which God has created earlier, the sun and the moon was just to make distinct lights to the night and day and for signs, seasons and days, the sun and moon both originated from the light that has earlier been created in gen 1:3. Note that its possible for the sun to be darkened and that's an evidence that its not the light that was created in gen 1:3, if that light created in gen 1:3 was of God, then when there is an eclipse of the sun, there should still be a light from God shining but no its the light that was created in gen 1:3 that was made to the sun and the moon in gen 1:16 or can God's light be made into sun and moon? If yes then God wouldn't have light anymore according to the meaning of made/make i gave above.
i think ur summary best explains it..

^^^Agreed! But he should preach God's word on Sundays to God's people and not 'Hate Gospel' o nthe Lord's day. He is free to call a press conference the number of time he wants and lambast the government as much as he wants. But, he should keep the Lord's DAY holy by preaching Salvation, God's Mercy and Healing. This is what heaven conscious Christians are asking for.
i once had the man said some people re so heavenly minded and earthly irrelevant. if u belive in God,have u ever ask urself, why did God not just sent men to heaven,if the earth is irrelevant.

pro01: What kind of im.be.c.il.es attend these churches with the likes of Bakare as pastors? Someone goes to church to hear the word of God, the Gospel of salvation, only to be fed political bile week in week out? Seriously, many people are lost and can never be saved. How can any sane 'Christian' be caught dead in Bakare's 'church'? The man is a bitter buffoon without ANY iota of credibility or godliness.

I wouldn't waste my tears for these clowns if Boko Haram finishes off the church and its useless pastor and congregation. Nonsense!
show me where in the bible that MOG keep their peace and preached salvation in time of bad governances.

where were u and bakare when the northerners where rulling ? The pastor just came bak from Iran where he was given some billions to distabilize the gudluck government and cause havoc within christians. How many times has he prayd 4d govt? Hes a fake
no beef meant but he said ukraine not some islamic state iran.
on the topic, how many of us remember the pastor under Abacha, and obj government. i still remember he was declare wanted by sss, with his passport siezed under obj.for those who just know him from last election and the fuel subsidy rally,he has always been anti-bad governance.
i'm not his church member but one's dislike for a person shouldn't becloud there judgement when sometin comes from the fellow.
beside i can't seem to remember in the bible where MOG don't speak against bad governance.

one more turn then he will be heading straight to the meeting place. He had to check his phone message to be sure he got the address right,as he slows the car to a turn to the next exit, he feels his pocket with his right hand, steering the car around the turn with his left, his hand made-out the shape of his phone,he brings out his phone, and slide it with swiftness that only comes from one's familiarization with an object.

Unlocking the message icon on his blackberry bold 2 phone, and scrolled down two steps where the name Garba is written,he opens it and there it was,the very message that had gotten him driving at this time of the night like some secret agent of CIA.

Looking at the watch on his wrist he couldn't make out the time exactly, the darkness inside his car wasn't helping him, so he turns his gaze to the digital clock on the dash board of his honda civic it reads 10;05pm.

He immediately returned his gaze to the road where the light from his headlamp is winning the siege over the darkness before him, making the road path come to life. he takes another glance at the rear view mirror for the hunderth time, scanning the road behind him, making sure he wasn't been followed,he had been driving for thirty minutes now, in what appear to be a zigzag movement just to be sure he wasn't followed or leaving a traceable trail beside him.

His mouth assuming a 'u' shape as he smiles to himself, for having done the secret agent act he had seen in one of the James bond movies or Jason staham movies, he wasn't sure which one.

However he was satisfied with his performance,

But, I'm looking forward to writing another whole novel in the first-person-singular narrative technique. Foreign Affairs / Morsi Wins Egypt's Presidential Election by stokolie(m): 3:53pm On Jun 24, 2012
The Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi has officially won Egypt's presidential election and will be the country's next president, the electoral commission has announced.

Morsi picked up 13.2 million votes out of just over 26 million, giving him about 51 per cent of the vote. His competitor, Ahmed Shafiq, the final prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, received 12.3 million. More than 800,000 ballots were invalidated.

Farouq Sultan, the head of the election commission, delivered a long speech before announcing the results in which he defended the body's "independence and integrity" amidst what he called meddling by unnamed political factions.

The two candidates filed 456 complaints about the electoral process, Sultan said, most of them allegations of either forgery or Christian voters being blocked from polling stations in Upper Egypt. The vast majority of those complaints were dismissed.

Political uncertainty ahead

Morsi's victory caps off more than a week of behind-the-scenes negotiations between the Brotherhood and the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF). He claimed victory just hours after last week's runoff election, based on unofficial numbers tallied by the Brotherhood, but the commission delayed its official announcement until Sunday.

In the intervening days, Khairat al-Shater, the Brotherhood's political boss, met generals from SCAF at least once. Sources say they were negotiating exactly what powers the president will have.

Despite Morsi's victory, many of those questions about his power remain unanswered.

Shortly before the polls closed last week, the generals issued a decree sharply limiting the powers of the new president. It permitted him to declare war, for example, only with the approval of the military council.

SCAF will also keep control of legislative power, and the budget, until a new parliament is elected. Egyptians went to the polls in November to elect a legislature, which was dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, but it was dissolved earlier this month after a high court ruling found parts of the electoral law unconstitutional.

Saad el-Katatni, the speaker of the now-dissolved parliament, also met with officials from SCAF, and told them that the Brotherhood would not accept the court ruling or the election-night decree. But it's unclear whether the Brotherhood ultimately accepted those decisions in exchange for the presidency.

Either way, the military council - which has promised to hand over power to a civilian government on June 30, in a "grand ceremony" - will remain a powerful force in Egyptian politics, despite the election of a civilian president

form this latter post i understand ur religion does allows bondage of many kind.and u justify that by saying we do it but common we re not alone..
as for comparing saudi and vetican.while both have significance, but it an inbalanced comparisism, while both are major religious concious society.one will allow u to defect, the other will kill u if u do.while you can practise other religion of ur choice without fear of been caught in one,the other you cant even be seen with as much as another religious object.the list could just go on..
thank God osama wasn't hitler,
anyway wouldn't want to derail this topic, but like to contribute my own bit..
in as much as the boko-haram threat should be treated with importants,i will like to say the whole country should be put on red alert(security wise) because this could be a ploy at decoy, making the security agencies attention concentrated on the mentioned place, while the main target could even be third mainland bridge...
especially this one the bridge will under some repair, someone in disguise as a worker could easily plant IED on one of them bim.
Religion / Is It Right For Clergy To Oppose The Government. by stokolie(m): 12:19pm On Jun 20, 2012
Recent activities in Nigeria, where clergy men(pastors and MOG),stand up against government, lead rallies and act as critics and opposition, to government on several decision, policies and in the politics, as seen in the case of bishop orijefor, rev fr mbaka in enugu, and more obvious that of pastor tunde bakare. A lot of comment by most people (even here on nairaland ) trail along the line that they should concentrate on religious matters, give rise to this question is there any biblical instances why they shouldn't.
What your take on this fellow christian......

if i were to investigate this suicide claim, i will first establish my base line which are...
1 does the crime scene suggest suicide?
ans: i have no vitual observation so cant say for certain, if the scene suggest suicide,or not.
2 suppose it a suicide what is the motive?
ans: with the little intel gathered here the man was accused of fraud worth 110,000 dollar.as noted it is not sure if the man has been charged to court, and as sure the probability of suicide when the judicial process has not run it course is illogical, since the accused has time and even a lenghty legal process before he will be proven guity.
so i question the timing of the suicide, as man guilt has not been proven.

it is IMO that the death of this man require a proper explaination and a follow up investigation as the time and place doesnt add up, in my investigative xperience.i recommend an independent investigation.

it always good to knw people very well before we start saying things abt them.
first i will like to point us to the fact that bakare has always been on the opposition of bad governance even before his adventure into politics, which IMO i think was his worst decision yet.
but when people say it because he is in the opposition political party,it shw hw much most people dont know him.
he has always stood against popular corrupt government siting, Abacha, obj and gej.
the fact that some of us dont like the man, doesn't mean we shldn't see the truth whenever it is presented to us irrespective of the messanger.
