Yemaica:
So I have been dating Gbenga for about 3 years now, A serious relationship intending to become a married life very very soon but I am at the point where I am not sure if he is the right person for me to marry.

I have been given it some thought lately and I am very confused.

Please Nairalanders I need your help, I believe that the point of view from someone tht don’t know me is very important because he/she will speak plainly without the fear of hurting my feelings.

Gbenga and I started off like the classics, He came to seek my elder sister’s approval before I could say yes. And my pastor’s too. He is very honest and caring,he can spend his last kobo on me and go home broke. I can remember when I asked him what his intention was before I brought him to my sister. He said will not promise me all the money in the world but he would make sure I never regret any moment with him.

..Fast forward to the beginning of the whole wahala…

I must confess I did hurt Gbenga and I have learnt from my mistake and I am changed. During the first year of our relationship cheated on him more than once for reasons I later realized to be stupid and ashamed of. Gbenga forgave me and made me promise never to do it again.

Ever since, Things never remained the same again. Initially, Gbenga like my best friend, my mentor advising and guiding me through in every aspect of my life. But after the issue we had, My boyfriend became over protective, always trying to make sure I don’t repeat the same mistake again. He move from being a mentor to being my obsessed and wicked secondary school counsellor. That’s is not even a problem for me, I can deal with that. But what I can’t deal with is:
• He claimed that I don’t love him, that if I really do, it will be written all over me. OKAY I started showing that I really love him.
• He came back again saying that I am trying to please him, he doesn’t want to be pleased that I should show him how much I love him in my own way. I WAS CONFUSED AT HEARING THIS, I still am and I am trying but I think too much intelligence is worrying this guy. But I am trying.

I don’t really have friends or time to make one because of the nature of my job. Majority of my friends are guys who mostly started off from toasting me then ended up in my friends’ zone and all this I tell Gbenga. Sometimes he act normal and we joke about it and he advices me to stay clear of their cunny strategies and other time is a different story entirely, He gives me this attitude especially when I make new ones.

..Something happened recently that stroked a cord in my nerve...

Gbenga is always telling my how dumb I can be around guys, saying that I can be easily manipulated and guys can easily bed with me because I lack the etiquette and sense to counter them or even detecting they are scammers. I swear I usually boil when he starts preaching this sermon on my head.

U will end up messing this man life up if you two eventually get married, mean while na God go punish u idiot....ashawo

I pity the woman. Things must really be hard for her. She just needed something to eat. She didn't steal a phone or Brazilian hair for God's sake, why post her pictures? angry

Something similar to this happened in a market in my area in 2016. The woman, a civil servant who is being owed salaries by the govt of Yahaya Bello, stole a medium bag of Semovita flour from the market. She was harassed and taken to the police station. At the station the woman revealed that her children have not eaten for 3 days and she couldn't watch them any longer. The DPO wept when he heard that. He paid the trader for the Semo and gave the woman 10k to buy food for her family. Whenever I remember that incident, tears escape from my eyes.

Politics / Re: Show Of Shame.you Cannot Justify Disrespecting The President – Ayogu Eze To PDP by Sushsu7: 7:40am On Dec 21, 2018
StateNews:
This Is Show Of Shame. You Cannot Justify Disrespecting The President – Ayogu Eze To PDP lawmakers

A ranking Nigerian senator and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 election in Enugu Sate, Sen. Ayogu Eze has condemned what transpired in the National Assembly when President Muhammad Buhari presented the 2019 appropriation to a joint sitting of the assembly.

Sen. Eze said that it was unprecedented for members of the National Assembly who pride themselves as the true representatives of the people to descend to a level where they left Nigerians with the difficult task of distinguishing between them and kindergarten delinquents, arguing that their actions had portrayed our hallowed assembly as a place where people serve only their selfish interest.

“These are fathers and mothers of adults and children who were probably sitting in front of their television sets watching these unguarded conducts. How would they explain their behavior on live television to their spouses and children? What examples were they setting for a nation that looks up to them for leadership”, Sen. Eze asked.

The APC guber candidate said that legislators are usually allowed their idiosyncrasies but not in a manner that would desecrate the very institution whose integrity they’re elected to protect.

Sen. Eze said the National Assembly owes the people of Nigeria an apology for “this show of shame”, adding that nothing on earth can justify disrespecting the “president while performing one of his most sacred constitutional responsibilities of charting a course of how the ship of state would be moved in the next 12 months.”

He said the unfortunate thing is that the same people who are expected to process and pass this budget for the benefit of Nigerians were too preoccupied with their noisy chants to be able to listen to the details of the budget, arguing that “the net effect of this disruptive conduct will show during the budget defense and passage when the items in the budget would appear completely alien to most of them.”

He commended the president for his statesmanship and for not losing his cool even in the face of the uninvited provocation. He said: “The President’s poise and carriage portrayed him as a mature statesman, who even in the face of a very unfortunate situation did not lose his composure and confidence. It showed him as the leader Nigeria needs to navigate these turbulent times.”

Urging the President not to lose focus in his determination to reposition Nigeria to continue to play her leading role of serving as the engine of growth on the African continent, Sen. Eze tasked his fellow lawmakers to always resist the temptation of allowing personal issues to becloud their sense of patriotism and nationalism, arguing that budget presentation is a solemn national assignment that no Nigerian should toy with.

“We know the legislature as the amphitheater of debate and reasoning but certainly not an arena to play to the gallery in the hope of hoodwinking the electorate into electing or re-electing us to our desired offices “, Sen. Eze said, adding: “We as legislators must always resist the temptation to descend to theatrics on the floor of the National Assembly no matter how hotly we feel about the issues in the polity.”

Sen. Eze also said it was worrisome for the legislators to disrespect their own leadership to the extend of disallowing them to speak on such an important occasion, even after disobeying the best efforts of the presiding officers to call them to order throughout the entire budget presentation, arguing that what they did was an indirect vote of no confidence in the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly.

Bunch of thieves that think Buhari is the corrupt loving Jonathan that would bribe them with 17 billion "election expenses"

“In a tough session with the National Assembly’s ad hoc committee on the budget (made up of chairs of the Finance Committee and Appropriation Committee of both chambers and other leaders of the National Assembly), an additional N20 billion was re-introduced as election expenses for National Assembly members.

“We insisted the amount be dropped because it nullified the 13 per cent cut made to their statutory budget, but managed to reduce the N20 billion figure by only N3 billion to N17 billion.

“This became the price to pay to have the 2015 budget passed.”

Politics / Re: Ezekwesili Reacts To NBS’ Confirmation That 21 Million Nigerians Unemployed by Sushsu7: 3:31am On Dec 21, 2018
19Ebisco:
The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has assured Nigerians that the increasing rate of unemployment in the country would stop if she emerged as the President.

In a press statement issued on Thursday in reaction to the recent data released by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS), she warned Nigerians against voting for “candidates that have no idea of how to solve the challenges facing the country.”

The ACPN presidential candidate reiterated that no fewer than 80 million Nigerians would be lifted out of poverty by her administration.

She said that her administration would implement a productivity and competitiveness initiative that would create new opportunities and jobs in some key sectors.

Among the sectors she listed are: agriculture, fisheries, livestock and agribusiness where more than one-third of Nigeria’s active labour population are found.

“There will be jobs from light manufacturing industries, construction, housing and public works, renewable solutions, services including trade, telecoms and technology, domestic tourism, and creative industries.

“These industries not only hold the key to putting more Nigerians to work but provides a much-needed boost to the nation’s productivity.

“Promoting and supporting these industries will occur through a mix of sound policies on trade, tax, infrastructure, skills, training, and research
and development,” Ezekwesili added.

She also said priority would be placed on building a rapidly expanding economy, which would be powered by the private sector based on an economic structural change agenda.

She said, “A majority of those operating in the economy are in the informal, low productivity sectors. While previous governments have
focused largely on the formal sector in their poverty reduction and ease of doing business schemes, the informal sector, according to the
International Monetary Fund (IMF), is over 60 per cent of the Nigerian economy ($240bn).

“Unable to tackle the factors which lead to informality, such as low level of education, previous governments have chosen either to ignore the problem or militate against it. The informal sector also suffers low productivity due to high business costs which outstrip earnings.

“These barriers on them mean that those that work the hardest in our economies fail to earn a decent living. Investments in the formal sector
over the last couple of years, while significant, have not yielded the kind of growth rates achieved by the informal sector, which grew at an annual average rate of about 8.5 per cent between 2015 and 2017, in comparison with the formal economy which grew by 0.8 per cent in 2017.

“However, increased informality, if unchecked, could lead to higher rates of poverty and inequality.”

She also said, “We will move to embed the productivity and competitiveness agenda within initiatives that give incentive for the nation’s informal businesses and workers to, on their own, enter the regulatory framework which enables adequate access to government support, accounting, tax reform necessitated by a larger number of registered workers, and the capitalisation of investments in domestic
industries.

“In order to revitalise key aspects of the economy and implement dramatic reform, the government will pay significant attention to the informal sector, as the principal creator of employment and as a catalyst for growth and development.”

According to Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s growth and productivity can only happen when the people have lots of jobs and when they earn incomes that pull them out of poverty.

“Right now, people simply do not have jobs. Under President Muhammadu Buhari, according to the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS), over 20 million Nigerians are unemployed. Again, think about that for a second. Those are not just numbers – they are humans; one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight million humans. They have families. They have people who depend on them.

“We all know someone who has lost a job in this economy. You may even be one of them. We all have families and friends who call us on the phone, pleading for any change we could spare at all to help them survive one more day. How long can we continue like this? The right candidate is Ezekwesili,” the statement added.
