Yes you can private without a referral.

The cost is case by case but ideally you should pay for consultation first.

You can try London Women's CLinic, they have branches outside London within the UK

Wanted to quote @Viruses

dustydee:

You can check some prices on the hospitals website then compare it to cost of travelling to Nigeria.

If you are in Abuja go to thier office in Gwarimpa, with your bank statement, they will try to bill you based on your transaction but please beat it down seriously.

Last week my mum a retiree went to get hers when the lady saw her bank statement , she billed my mum 500k for the TCC, my mum started packing her Kaya because that 500k is more than the cost of buying dollar at black market rate sef. They asked how much she wanted to pay, she said 20k, they said she should bring it 😂.

Newbie123:
Please does anyone know about getting a tax clearance certificate for Nigeria?

Can I do it myself after signing in to the portal please?

The money they are quoting is outrageous

@estroller based on the image you posted, it means 15hrs for 2years olds can be claimed if you have Visa restrictions but based on salary and savings thresholds

Thanks for pointing it out, I was actually referring to the 30hrs funding

If you want to have kids in the future, start saving towards PGD + IVF with private hospitals as I do not think the NHS will fund such treatment.

Also I have never heard of any Government programs specifically tailored towards your situation but you can check online.

Yinnchi2:
Hello, please I need advice. I met my boyfriend(African-British) a few months ago and we plan to get married later this year. Unfortunately, I found out we are both of AS genotype. I'm optimistic about not having kids with sickle cell but since it can't be ruled out, I want to ask if the UK government provides adequate and free health programs for such or if the sickle cell treatment issue is the same here as it is in Nigeria

Pieces of Advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Check that you have transferred the funds from your Dom account into your Debit/ Credit card account. If you have not, you have to do that in order to gain access your funds. Also make sure you effect the transfer before 12noon I think so that it can reflect same day.

I believe you just answered your question if that’s what is stated on UKVI
CheesyTee:

He will need to switch and the UKVI page said dependent can apply same time as me or at a different time before their current visa expires.

Since he is out of the UK before I switched, I want to confirm if he can use his BRP which has student dependent to enter the UK.

Yes, you can PM me

You may wish to log into Experian, download your full report to check if all you have stated here is actually recorded. You may also wish to check Equifax to be sure that you are indeed enrolled. Sometimes Experian will give you a perfect score but when you check, you discover that the information they have about you is limited.
Igbamatigbi:
Hello,

I know this have been talked about many times but I need help on this please.

I have been in UK for 13 months for 2 years Masters, I registered with Experian and my score is 845. I have tried to apply for a credit card even with AMEX , I saw a link here and applied and was rejected.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong, I have registered on credit ladder for some months now, I am registered on electoral roll. I have direct debit for data, NHS prescription and Netflix.

Please can someone help out? Experian sent a random mail that I qualify for Backlay credit card, I applied and was rejected, what should I do ?
Thanks .

So sorry about your situation.
Maybe get a lawyer to write to them with copies of your proof. This is quite sad. Do they have a regulatory body? You can also write to them.
Debawen:
Hello everyone,

I relocated to the UK over a year ago and the travel processes was done by a travel company in Nigeria. We were eligible for IHS refund, so i informed the designated agent assigned to us when we did out travel arrangment in Nigeria to inform her that i will be applying for the refund, she told me to provide proof once i have applied because the Uk gov will only refund the IHS to originating account that IHS is paid from which happens to be from the MD and his wife account. The refund has been approved and credited into their various account since september this year and the company is not having a turn around saying they do not process refund and do not involve themselves with IHS refund. All i want is for my IHS refund to be paid to me by the travel company since it has been credited into their account.

Please i need help or advice to go about getting my IHS refund from this people. The company have decided to stop responding to our emails claiming our file has been closed. I have all the evidence including transaction details.

Thank you for you help.

Sometimes I imagine what it’s like having a physical discussion with you. Eager to see your comments but I get lost at the end.

It’s not you oh! It’s me.. the fonts, quotations, etc well done though!

semmyk:
Seemly, a chart was linked to an article. Ingeniously so. Save to say, the article lacks rigour.
Does Nigeria has challenges. Absolutely yes (like a resounding amen). Is the narrative what it is exactly. The real domain does not (fully) concur with the empirical domain that is engaged in the actual domain.
PS: this I've transposed from critical realism: for those research oriented and need alternative to positivism and interpretivism

Just a passing comment on the article. I cannot discard the content of the article neither will I blatantly say it's not worth the 'paper' it's written on. Nope. What I can say however is that should it come to me as a manuscript to review as a reviewer in academic journal or reviewed technical report outlet, I will reviewed with a #reject outcome. Methodology wise, it's unsound. Discussion wise, lacks coherence. Conclusion wise, makes grand assertions that are not supported (from the work). References like the UN were not properly cited.
In any case, even the article in it's grand recommendations ack underlying mechanism that are at play.
- “Systemic and socioeconomic issues such as the influence of family, access to health facilities and religion on maternal health seeking decisions must be tackled alongside the strategic establishment, storage and distribution of medicines and blood banks.
- “Traditional birth attendants are trusted by local community women. They must be better equipped and trained in identifying danger signs and referring women to health facilities at the first sight of any danger sign. State governments must ensure that the activities of unskilled birth attendants are institutionalized and regulated.
- “At the national level, the federal government must, not just create guideline documents, but facilitate, implement and support the creation and sustained operation of PHCs in each LGA in Nigeria.”

On Nigeria healthcare, yes there are issues. Nonetheless, our PHC are not collosal wreck. It's been one of the surviving areas. I recalled, we had a discourse on this earlier in the year where we disagree to agree and agree to disagree.

Please can anyone in England confirm if household income is less than £26k, a household with one child is entitled to 15hours at 2 years old. My sister said her brp was taken and confirmed NRPF and they said it’s fine. I have also checked online and I am seeing on the government site that NRPF can still be gotten but I just want to be sure. Thanks

This post is just to say thank you to everyone that come here to give advice, share information and basically render support when required. In January a couple of you guys started discussing about how to get a property , that was when it occurred to me that have been dashing landlord money for too long oh.

Anyways I contacted a mortgage advisor ( recommended on one of the Facebook groups for first time buyers), explained my situation, to her and she worked out how much lenders would be willingly to offer me as mortgage amount. That’s how I started looking for property o, kitty kitty I chatted an OG in the game @lexusgs430 who broke everything down properly and basically encouraged to go ahead and also try other lenders to see if i could get more (worst case will be No abi but nothing spoil).

The hustle to find a house within my affordability was another thing, houses don’t even last on the market ( single applicant with two kids, husband in Nigeria).

Anyway I got lucky, someone’s sale fell through , reserved the property 19th of February and got my keys April 1st. My tenancy contract ends 12th May but I am super happy I got the property on lock down, my landlady has put her house on the market so yeah talk about “timing”.

Thank you guys so much for always sharing your experience. Just generally thankful as that is one less thing to worry about.

Shout out to my girl @Mimzyy❤️. Thanks for always cheering.

I stated that he was not joining us as he was working and resident in Nigeria, that was the only reason I stated for him not joining us anyway. He wrote a letter saying that as well.

Well, it’s possible there are rejections also but my point is , it’s not impossible as I was approved to come in without my husband
Also, I didn’t come on a student Visa, I don’t know if the approval would have been different.

I know it can make the application process difficult but it’s not impossible that’s why I shared my own experience. However, I wish we applied with hun because he has now been travelling with Visit Visa ( some Point of entry officers can make this difficult with questions about his job or why he is always coming into the Uk) and also if your partner applies with you, making switches to depend on each other interms of visa types can be easier.

Having said that please apply with your partner @poster even if he wouldn’t be resident here but for easy entry.

For my renewal I will add my husband as I now have another baby.

LagosismyHome:

The embassy has rejected several based on how you stated it here.... it is not that easy at all of the other parent is not coming or single parent

Maybe you state what exactly was this in bold to tell the full story , because how you written it doesn't fly It has to be better exception reason ..... even their guidance document shows what fatima04 has said. It not that easy at all.

Well not entirely correct.
I came into the Uk with my son ( my husband didn’t apply with us), all I did was explained why my son had to come with me (he was a year old then and was still nursing) and why my husband was not joining us. I also showed correspondences between the Nursey I intended to enroll him in.

It possible but you have to prove your case and show you have the funds for Nursery fees if they are not yet of “free school age”.

Basically every situation is unique.

fatima04:

Both parents needs to apply together when coming with a minor and sign the consent letter. Your oga can come afterwards.

Only caveat to the above is widowed, divorced or single parent and you need to demonstrate sole responsibility for the child with court orders etc

Oh yes I am open to trying out new meals and not necessary traditional meals. He has been going to the nursery for a year for morning sessions and we all love it so why not.

Meal prep for picky eaters is the absolute worst but mehn but if we have to do it, we do it. Thanks for the suggestions.

LagosismyHome:

Is this the only nursery in your area... please check around. I don't imagine any nursery asking me to bring food for one year .... No power for such.

Except its a must for you that he attends a sure start nursery.... if yes then sometimes my kids went to holiday clubs where I had to provide lunch so I did snack (crips, cakes, chocolate fingers) , caprisonne or a small juice drink and I made a sandwich...switch up the type of bread for variety and then ham, sausage ,tuna for filling, burger in the oven and put in a bread bun.. Yogurt some days..

He won't be able to take these to nursery(he eats lots of noodles, poundo ) ... noodles yes if he allowed hot food then you buy a small flask
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Susom(f): 3:39pm On Jan 12, 2022
Thank you, this makes sense because they won’t warm the meals before serving anyway. I am sure he won’t be fed lunch (it’s a sure-start nursery).
Mamatukwas:

Not sure about your location but most nurseries here won’t want you to come in with hot food. So it needs to be cold- Sandwiches, Fruit, Juice box, Croissants and/or biscuits.

As someone mentioned, also find out if the nursery will feed your child. You might not even need to pack anything if he’s not a picky eater.

He is two going on three, he is required to bring lunch to be stored in the fridge untill lunch Time
kokorunna:
First question, how old is your son.

Buy some snack packs from those big supermarkets and add a drink to it.

Note in nursery they serve them food also

I promised to come back here after passing my driving test. Yayyy!! I passed in November 2021 for the first time, my test was in Coventry (crazy test route) but I had an amazing instructor so yes it’s doable.

Anyone here on a Sole representative of an Oversea business Visa??

My son is starting full time nursery and that means packed meals. Any ideas please, he eats lots of noodles, poundo and waffles at home, hates fruits and greens but I want to change all that now. If you have any meal ideas appropriate for nursery setting , kindly share.

Well done guys for always helping people on here by responding and sharing your experiences.

Sept 2020 and it's almost September 2021, that means you have been resident in the UK how at least a year. Better go and get the UK drivering licence because you are only allowed one year to use international licence.

Thank you. Yeah I am aware. So the 6months payment is quite funny, my sole Representative visa wasnt helpful because my employers are in Nigeria( they were a-bit uncomfortable with that and also the financial uncertainty, No thanks to covid) . I was given the option to pay 6 months (0ne month with Deposit Scheme, 4months for rent and they will keep two months, whenever i am leaving the two months will be paid back to me). It was a desperate one for me aha with a toddler, i jumped at it and I have a roof over my head. Trust me alot has changed in the rental market especially with Landlords, Kent landlords showed me serious pepper even with my Uncle trying to get the place for us, them no gree at all oo
missjekyll:

My dear Susom,it does look you have been had. they cannot collect advance rent in excess of 5 weeks rent.
The law changed in July 2019. I know you may not want to raise dust seeing how hard it was for you to get a place. But I m just putting it on record here.
