Health / Re: Post Natal Depression - Any Urgent Help? by sylink1: 8:39am On Apr 23, 2009
@Beneli

Thank you for the interest. Let me provide a bit more insight into the challenge. On mood swing -e.g You could just agree happily on something  in the morning only to come back later to meet her seriously upset. No connection to the earlier agreement. You could call her on the phone in the day time and hear her crack jokes only to get home to a very harsh tone. She enjoys the company of other family members. A few times though, the relationships gets rough. She strongly believes I am responsible for her problems. Violence gets triggered when I say something she finds upsetting.

Hallucinations -she's very convinced they are real. Hear voices.
Her behaviour before bearing -Would know really. she took in very early and inconveniences of pregnancy set in
Family history -Not quite. The mum behaviour is quite bizarre and irrational a times.
Health / Post Natal Depression - Any Urgent Help? by sylink1: 6:24pm On Apr 22, 2009
After the 2nd baby, my wife appear to have mood issues akin to post natal or post partum depression. She does experience mood swing, occasional pain in lower abdomen, headache, stomach, pains similar to labour with pelvic stress etc. She's done quite a lot of medical tests in good clinics with no significant findings. Recently she turned violent nearly smashing my skull with a hammer. She appear to hallucinate -seeing some figures. I have put up with this for nearly 3 years. Orthodox and herbal applications have not worked. Her near illiterate mother has quickly latched on this situation by alluding everything to witchcraft.

I have not checked her for depression. Any suggestion or direction that might help before my marriage collapses? Perhaps an experienced mental health expert around will be appreciated.

Career / Re: Electrical Engineering: Aspirants and Practitioners by sylink1: 5:30pm On Apr 17, 2009
Let me bare mind on this interesting topic. I graduated from a polytechnic (IMT Enugu).  There was a huge discrimination of HND holders. I was determined to succeed though. After NYSC, I commenced with a work in a consulting firm, moved to multinational communication company and finally to the Banking with their irresistible money offers. With a personal 4x4 ride, house, foreign vacation and a happy family, what else can a man ask? I 'm currently applying for higher degrees with a foreign university. I hope to consult upon retirement. Lesson for the upcoming: Always do your best and rely on God. Dont spend all your useful years writing uni jamb. Get into the poly, if that's God's wish for you. He will surely bless you. In my first job, I ended up supervising 3 uni grads in my department. Though i have not practiced the Telecom aspect contrary to my aspiration, but I am happy with what I am doing. With enough cash, the world is within reach.

On NSE and COREN -they are just stiffing the growth of the profession for selfish gain. Certificate discrimination is clearly mindless and senseless. Developed lands give regards to more what you are able to deliver and not paper qualification. Nigeria should borrow a leaf from that. You need the tech schools for development.

Education / Fake Certificates: Members Beware! by sylink1: 11:54am On May 09, 2008
Speedway Academy Yakoyo Road Ojodu advertised and ran a PGD programme for Onabisi Onabanjo university Ago-Iwoye. Final exams were conducted in July 2007. Results were never released. Instead, students were asked to attend the Convocation programme at Main campus in November 2007. Shortly, it was announced that students should report at the study centre to collect their certificates. Curiously, I got there to collect mine only to find out that the so-called certificates was signed by only a signatory designated 'Director'. Besides, it was clearly stated that OOU Consult awarded the certifcate and lastly no grade was attached to the certificate.

i understand there were other study centres in Lagos. Does anybody have similar experience? what's the best line of action? Something tells me there is ripoff somewhere?

Education / Re: B. Sc. vs HND: An Unsettled Case? by sylink1: 2:57pm On Mar 26, 2008
I am very proud of my HND cert. All HND holders should strive ride above this discrimination. i got into the poly with straight A's. After graduation, i have supervised three bsc holders. Remuneration wise, I am currently on 6 digit per month and regular vacation abroad while many boasty bsc holders are still cluching on their application papers, knocking on doors year after year. Many PHD's will never achieve half of my living standard in their lifetime. Hold your head high brother, 4 yrs + 1yr ind. experience is no tea party.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I'm Totally Fed Up With Job Hunting by sylink1: 2:31pm On Mar 26, 2008
George, do not despair. i had almost same experience. i have gradually moved to an earning level of above 6m per annum with HND. How did I achieve that. After NYSC, I worked for an outfit for less than 6k monthly for 2 years, acquired some valuable job experiences and launched into the industry big time. A journey of a thousand mile begins with a step.

Cheer up
