It is a good and welcome idea. But I think we need to look into another area which can negate this efforts if finally the outcome is accepted by our government to use for the next election. How can we make sure that politicians don't buy all these Programmers for thier own self interest and bastardize the whole proccess? 1 Like |

Tunababa8v: Honestly speaking, when I saw your post I had to check and re-check to be sure that I had not posted this your comment above. Similar experience I had with Etisalat but a little bit different because I was compensated after I had threatened them to report their dubious ways of extorting many of their subscribers to the authority. My own experience started late April when I called their customer service to confirm if my new line was eligible for the 1Gb data for N500, after the agent ran a check on my line, she said my line was eligible and gave me the code to dial whenever I recharge my line. After several attempts to subscribe, I had to call the customer=center again to report my experience. My line was later transferred to the technical department from where I was told to be patient for 24hrs before the issue could be resolved. To my surprise, the problem was not solved even after 48hrs. I had to call and spoke angrily to some of their incompetent staff and finally I got a SMS after 3 days that the problem was solved and that I could subscribe for the 1gb data for N500. I ignored the message because I had used my N500 for 200MB because I need internet very urgently at that time. It all started again yesterday when I loaded N500 in order to get the 1GB data. (Don't call me a fool because if I had not received a confirmation SMS from their customer service to do so, I wouldn't have done so). Immediately I loaded N500, N50 was deducted and left my balance with N450 which I didn't notice until I made attempt to subscribe I got a message that my subscription was unsuccessful because of insufficient balance. I call the customer center and made a request for the reason of the deduction. I was very mad with their representative that told me the deduction was for call-back-tune. My N50 was though refunded immediately when I threatened to report to Consumer Protection Agency (CPA). And I was also compensated with 100mb for not being able to buy the 1gb data for N500. The last person I spoke with last night just cooked up a story to let the case die down by telling me that I could only activate the data within the first 30 days of purchasing the new line and also that I must have at least N1000 credit on my phone before it could be activated. I told her I was not happy with all the stress and wasting of my money on Etisalat line. She then promised to compensate me with the 100mb of which I got this morning. |

I was at National Identity Management Commission on last Tuesday to register for my National ID Card. When I got to the Center at Ilorin West in Kwara State, I met with the security guard at the gate who told me that I could not register simply because there was no light. He advised me to join the crowd that were waiting outside the gate. I was disappointed and then asked if Federal Government never made any alternative for the exercise if there is power outage. Then he could not answer my question. He insisted that I should join the crowd and put down my name on a provided list, which of cause I did. To my surprise, someone among the waiting crowd suggested that we contribute money to buy fuel for the agency so that we could be registered without wasting our precious time. I was disappointed and immediately kicked against that. But alas, more than 80% of the crowd started contributing N50.00 each for the development. By then, we were above 130 people on the list. As some of us refused to contribute, I then learnt that it had been the usual activity of the Agency to tell people that there’s no light and no fuel to run the generator for the registration exercise. To this, they will expect people to help them with about 20ltrs of fuel or above for them to run the generator. I think this is very ridiculous and unacceptable way of extorting. I decided to share this on Nairaland because I don’t know how I can report this kind of a thing to the appropriate authority. It now happens on daily basis at National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Ilorin, Kwara State. Please share your experience if you have been a victim too. Let me also make it clear that I was registered even though I didn’t contribute money. And I told the Agency representative who addressed the crowd that it was an unacceptable way of extorting money from people.
