Education / Re: Why Is Pidgin English Not Taught Officially In Nigeria? by tchalae: 9:24am On Jul 08, 2016
We've refused to standardise what is ours.. .The Americans standardised thier own English and made it work for them.. .pidgin English can be standardised and used as a very effective means of communication and learning, separating the slangs from the basic language....thers even Zimbabwean English so Nigerian linguists need to do more

seriously, any country has a fair share of multinational companies even the US and UK, that's what keep an economy going but am talking of small and medium scale businesses, the "underground economy", retailing. majority of small and medium scale businesses in Nigeria are owned by Nigerians. When we talk of controlling economy we talk of input and stakeholders in the IGR, most of it is through oil and Nigeria has partnership with all oil companies through the NNPC, so basically we control our economy.

Thank u bruh...Please educate them

The scheme was initiated to unite the country after a civil war that lasted thirty-months, to rid the country of "unreasonable tribal sentiments" and its trying its best....people are always thinking about what their country would do for them, rather than what they would do for her......"the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain", we will one day be the "past heroes of the future"...render your service diligently even if its just wearing the uniform and donating one year of your time to your country....

Even the Tesla series needs to be charged remember. Ain't you curious to know where they got the piston from, who designed the engine block, what material is the shaft made from. As an eco friendly car what's the power cycle like? See eh I don tire. They should just stop showcasing mediocrity and making the Nigeria educational institutions appear like one big Christmas joke.

The car is electric so it doesn't make use of a piston, but a rotor, the guy (Koya) who did the design and calculations is a car genius..dude has worked wif local mechanics and volkswagen so wen he talks cars I respect him, he even used regular car batteries as getting the type of batteries he needed was out of his cost range....wen I saw the chasis I was so amazed at how simple the design and construction looked for a complex thing called a car.....
Education / Re: UNILAG Undergraduates Build Eco-friendly Car (Photos) by tchalae: 10:32am On Aug 21, 2015
The car is an electric vehicle, built solely to be very light and fast (F1 style)...chasis and construction is different from regular vehicles as someone said it runs on 3HP and cost of construction was just over 700k. it wasnt an undergraduate project but a team of young innovators who decided to create something that had never been done before. its sad the founder of D0VE initaitive- Olukoya Olusanya lost his dear mum just before construction could be completed as she was the chief sponsor. and certain industry bigwigs couldn't show support like Murray Bruce and innoson even after they tried contacting them. The team is currently working on the next model p2 which should include a fingerprint ignition startup engine.

You like to argue sha albeit without clear understanding.

Where did you see me associate English with intelligence now ehn?

What I was trying to understand in a nutshell hoping you can get this was how could he call himself a first class student & not have proper comprehension of the English language? Did he not write exams? in English? it's only logical.

In line with your justification, What language do we use for studies here in Nigeria?

If the guy wan go jand go do masters they will ask in what language was your first degree awarded, you will advice him to say English, meanwhile him no too sabi English oyinbo go say na first class graduate.

He goes to jand writes this type of English ratings of universities in Africa go commot dem go bone Nigeria.

You will come and open thread here to ask how come they didnt list Nigeria?

Well you do have a very good point...but dnt judge the class of degree based on a typographical error.

How many years now has he been dead?

So since then you no see another example?

You're not helping yourself with this point if you really think about it o

Even the so called rich men who dropped out of school like Gates and Zuckerburg are intellects in their fields, and wld probably hve finished top of dier classes if dey continued till grauduation....

Festus odimegwu, Ceo nigerian breweries and one of d multimillionaires in Nigeria graduated with a first class

Professor Charles soludo also did

Dr. Joseph odumodu- DG SON also did

Nasir el rufai- is among them.....and d list goes on

Your best effort at being a comedian abi?
Someone comes here spewing that he's a first class graduate without proper comprehension of the English language and I'm supposed to be happy with him?

Yeah I didn't graduate with a first class but that guys effort at the English language is nothing compared to mine, what does that tell you?

Seriously.

Why do people always associate the use of English with intelligence, English is just another language like french or german...there are excellent expatriates who knw nothing about the English Language and stl do well in their various fields......som ppl encountered english as a second language and dier native as a first...so cut dem some slack

Please let's let the Biafrans go...they think they have the skills to manage resources than any other part of the nation, they will soon realise that they are no different from other regions surrounding the Niger...they think they have the majority of resources, they feel they are the smartest set of ppl arnd the Niger....let them go and let us have a new Nigeria (United regions of the Niger) just like the United kingdom, United arab emirates, United states of America........Biafra has nothing she will just be another third world country with oil, coal and corrupt ppl

Politics / Re: Godwin Emefiele Tells Buhari To Sell Off Nigeria's Oil Stakes by tchalae: 3:44pm On Apr 24, 2015
when leaders continue to play common text book economics of comparative advantage which have never worked and will never work for black nations. we keep doing as the western world says rather than as they have done.

Nigeria needs to stop exporting raw materials while importing industrially finished products such as clothes and food, we also need to stop trying to increase oil revenue through whatsoever means, the oil revenue should be a cushioning effect for the economy owing to the fact that we have population and intellect.

what the cbn gov should be advising are policies that would encourage true indigenous industrialization in different regions of the country rather than encourage more investors in the sector that continues to cripple the nations ability to manufacture.

lure oil magnates with wealth to divest in other fields so as to spread the wealth and open up other regions of the country. the wealth that has been looted is still within the pockets of the thieves, encourage them to reinvest with juicy tarrifs and policies, instead of creating more cash that runs the risk of being looted.
