YugoMagazine:
Georgina Wambui, a 33 Years old Kenya National has gotten married to herself after she was engaged in a fatal accident which made her wheelchair-Bound.

Georgina Wambui was engaged to a man before she got involved in the accident, she called it quit after that.
Georgina Wambui made up her mind to marry herself because she’s now wheelchair-bound and has no man in her life.
According to Georgina, her life took a terrible turn when she got involved in an accident in 2014 which made almost all her friends distance their selves from her.

She said; "After the accident, I lost of my friends who were close to me. That changed me a lot, it gave me a lot of strength. It made me realize some people are there to stay and others are not. This is one reason why I choose very few people around myself,"

Georgina chose the day of her 32nd birthday, which was on 1st of June, 2018 to engage herself, and she also made it known to her close friends and family members that she’ll be getting married to herself the following year.

Her close friends and family members were amused when she made her intention known to them, they thought she was crazy, so they tried changing her mind and convincing her to wait for a man to tie the knot with her, but her mind was made up already.

Lo and Behold, on Saturday, June 1st, 2019, she organized a colourful wedding and got married to herself, to the amazement of her friends and family members.

Georgina ordered a wedding cake and got the cake decorated with "Gee weds Gee". She got herself ‘Brides’ maids’ and rocked her wedding with them. I bet You’ll Love to watch a Video Coverage of the event!

She said "I chose to do that according to the inner feeling in me, not because I don't believe in love, I do believe in love, I believe in marriage but I chose I will go for what I want not what the society wants,"

When Georgina was asked what she really wishes for, she replied “Happiness”!

She also disclosed that she so-much desire getting married to a man and living a happy life, but it really looks impossible for her now, so she had to create her own ‘Happiness’.

Georgina said; "You may choose to wait but will you wait for the rest of your life. I really wanted to be married to a man but it has taken longer than what I expected, that is why I decided I will go ahead and marry myself,"

Regardless of the fact that she’s married to herself, she’s very faithful she’ll surely bear children one day. According to her, she doesn’t even mind if she bears a child with a deadbeat dad because she just wants a child, but she’s hoping that a responsible and genuine man can come into her life.

She said; "After my wedding, the next thing is getting a child, that is where I'm heading now,"

Georgina also announced on her social platforms that she’s interested in being a wheelchair Model.

Politics / Re: Victims Of Senator Elisha Abbo’s Assault Fail To Appear Before Senate Panel by teejona(m): 6:35pm On Jul 17, 2019
kidap:
The Senate Ad hoc committee which is investigating the alleged misconduct of Senator Elisha Abbo has said that the victim slapped by the lawmaker in a viral video did not honour its invitation.

The Chairman of the panel, Senator Sam Egwu, who stated this at plenary on Wednesday, said all efforts to make both the assaulted lady and the shop owner appear before the committee did not succeed.

The former Governor of Ebonyi State said the embattled Senator refused to make submissions before the ad hoc panel because he said doing so would be subjudice.

He also said both the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT and the lawyers to the victims also refused to make submissions, citing the same reasons.

Egwu, therefore, requested that the matter be stepped down pending the determination of the criminal case instituted against Abbo by the police.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, who presided over the plenary, disagreed with Egwu stressing that the panel could go ahead with its work notwithstanding the court case.

Lawan said what the Senate was investigating was the alleged misconduct of its member and not the criminal case against him which is already being handled by the police.

Egwu, therefore, sought the permission of the leadership for appointment one-week extension to enable him to submit the report.

The Senate President granted the request.

From: collinsuchendusblog.com

Governor Nyesom Wike has said that Rivers State is a Christian state and that he will not apologise for saying that. The governor stated this on Sunday June 23rd during the Lord’s Chosen Crusade at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Speaking at the programme, Governor Wike said the forces of darkness invaded the state and attempted to rob the mandate of the people, but God stood firm.

“We saw forces, but the greater force, God Almighty came. With this crusade. Rivers State will be abundantly blessed. I repeat once again without apologies, Rivers State is a Christian State. That is why nobody can touch us. When it mattered most, the Christian community prayed and God heard your prayers. I will continue to support the activities of all Churches. This Government will always partner with the churches , whatever the programme they are engaged in. I urge the Church to continue to pray. Each time you pray, put us in your prayers”, he said.

He said that God prevailed in Rivers State on March 9th during the governorship election and took charge of the state.

“On March 9th light prevailed over darkness. God showed himself and he is in charge. But for God, I wouldn’t have been here addressing the Christian faithful. The enemies came to Rivers State to take over the state and stop the will of the people. But God said no and the will of the people prevailed “, he said.

KenOne:
Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from the South-East region of the country.

The group, in a statement in Abakaliki on Thursday, said that will give the zone a sense of belonging in the President’s second tenure.

The statement signed by the President-General of OYC also congratulated the new National Assembly leadership elected on Tuesday.

The statement said: The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had watched keenly the manipulated drama and scheme out of South East zone from the leadership of National Assembly, Judiciary and other Security apparatus of the country, but, rather than lamenting endlessly, we congratulate those who emerged as National Assembly leaders.

It is the will of the Almighty God, and we the younger generation of Ndigbo accept these realities as an act of fate, and we urge Igbo leaders to shield their battle swords and quietly go into “ime Obi” and restrategize ahead of time for the battle Royal ahead in 2023.

We should borrow a leaf from South-West who were in similar situations between 2007 till 2015 before they bounced back in the present moment with President Buhari.

Politics / Re: FG Accepts Walter Onnoghen's Retirement, To Pay Him Full Benefits by teejona(m): 8:22am On Jun 06, 2019
Omooba77:
Lagos – The Federal Government has finally accepted the notice of retirement of suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, with a decision to pay him his full entitlement.

This is coming against the backdrop of recent overtures being made by the presidency to the retired jurist, urging him to be of assistance to the All Progressives Congress-led government in resolving the election cases the party has in various courts in the land.

Onnoghen, on April 4, sent his notice of retirement to President Muhammadu Buhari following his indictment by the National Judicial Council (NJC) around the same period.

A credible judiciary source who pleaded anonymity told Daily Independent that when the presidency sought the presence of the retired jurist in Abuja, especially after APC lost Zamfara wholesale to the PDP, family members told officials that Onnoghen was in the village in Cross River State since he has no house in Abuja.

The source said presidency officials held two meetings with the family members of the retired jurist where they sought his help over these cases and also agreed to accept his notice of retirement and also give him all his entitlements.

It would be recalled that the NJC had recommended Onnoghen’s compulsory retirement based on a petition brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against him “alleging financial impropriety and infidelity to the constitution”.

Mr. Ado Ibrahim, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland has said his son Mr. Yahaya Bello, the Kogi state Governor is an intelligent and nice man that was been misled by Igala people who surround him.

Ibrahim made this known when he granted interview to Daily Trust newspaper on Sunday.

Ibrahim speaking to Daily Trust reporter say he wishes to see Bello come back to second term.

He also said he wants Bello to be a good governor so that Ibira people will be proud of him.

The traditional ruler when asked to give his assessment of the Governor, say he cannot say anything beyond what people are saying about the governor and what he reads from newspapers.

Mr. Ibrahim say he read and heard people say the governor has not paid salaries, but said he is not the only governor owing salaries in Nigeria.

The traditional ruler disclosed that Bello relationship with his kinsmen, Ibira people is not cordial because he has surrounded himself with Igala people who are leading him in government.

Ibrahim said, it is Igala people who will decide whether Bello will come back to government house as the state Governor or not.

The Ibira chief say Bello does not take advice from anybody including the traditional rulers, but from those who sing his praises.

Politics / Re: Court Asked To Declare Tanko Muhammad Unfit, Order New Selection by teejona(m): 9:29pm On Apr 23, 2019
cyrilamx:
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has okayed a fresh suit seeking to bar President Muhammadu Buhari from appointing the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, to take over the leadership of the judiciary in a substantive capacity.

The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/420/2019, is praying the court to declare that Justice Muhammad who is currently the most senior jurist at the Supreme Court, is unfit to replace the sacked CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

Specifically, the plaintiff, Chief Malcom Omirhobo, who is a human rights lawyer, is praying the court to declare that the Acting CJN, Justice Muhammad, having made himself available as a tool that was used in the violation of the Constitution, especially with regards to the “illegal” removal of the former CJN, is therefore not a proper and fit person to be recommended for appointment to head the judiciary.

It is the contention of the plaintiff that the Acting CJN conducted himself in a manner that reduced the confidence of the public in the integrity and impartiality of the Judiciary. Cited as 1st to 7th Defendants in the suit were the National Judicial Council, NJC, the Federal Judicial Service Commission, FJSC, the Acting CJN, the Federal Government of Nigeria, President Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the National Assembly.

The plaintiff, among other things, urged the court to declare that the suspension and/or removal of a CJN from office, is a shared responsibility of the 1st Defendant (NJC), the 5th defendant (Buhari) and 7th Defendant (National Assembly). He argued that President Buhari lacked the constitutional powers to unilaterally suspend and/or the removal a sitting CJN from office, as was done in the case of Onnoghen.

Besides, he prayed the court to declare that by combined interpretation sections 1(1 )(2), 231(4), 292(1)(a)(i)(b), 153(1)(i), 158(1) and paragraph 21 (a)(b) of Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, “it is unlawful and undemocratic for the 4th and 5th Defendants (Federal Government and President Buhari), to declare the office of the CJN vacant on January 25, 2019 and consequently appoint and swear in the 3rd Defendant as the acting CJN”.

He, therefore, applied for a court order to restrain the National Assembly from confirming any appointment of Justice Muhammad as the substantive CJN.

Likewise, for, “An order, compelling the 2nd Defendant (FJSC), to select and the 1st Defendant (NJC), to recommend the most qualified Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria that is fit and proper, to the 5th Defendant, for appointment to office of the CJN, and for the confirmation of the 7th Defendant with a two-thirds majority vote”.

Aside praying the court to bar President Buhari from appointing Justice Muhammad as the substantive CJN, the Plaintiff, in a 65-paragraph affidavit he filed in support of the suit, stressed that unless restrained by the court, the Executive Arm of Government would continue to violate the extant provisions of the Constitution and sanctity of the judiciary.

Meantime, the suit which has already been assigned to Justice Iyang Ekwo for hearing is coming barely 72 hours after the NJC disclosed that it had approved the extension of Justice Muhammad’s tenure as the Acting CJN.

The Council had in a statement over the weekend, said it had at the end of the meeting is held on April 18, considered and approved President Buhari’s request for the extension of the appointment the Acting CJN for another three months.

Politics / Re: Appeal Court Affirms Fayemi’s Election, Dismisses Eleka, Pdp’s Appeal by teejona(m): 9:14pm On Mar 28, 2019
abc115:

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday affirmed the victory of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State at the July 14, 2018 governorship election in the state.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Stephen Adah, in a unanimous judgment, dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the election, Mr. Olusola Eleka.

Describing the appeal as “unmeritorious,” Justice Adah affirmed the July 28, 2019 judgment of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which had upheld Fayemi’s victory at the poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared that Fayemi and his party, the All Progressives Congress, polled a total of 197,459 votes to defeated Eleka and the PDP who placed second with 178,121 votes in the July 14, 2018 election.

Dissatisfied with the outcome, PDP and Eleka had filed their petition before the Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal which sat and delivered its judgment in Abuja.

The petitioners alleged, among others in their petition, that the election was marred by a lot of wrongs, including non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

But the tribunal on January 28, 2019 dismissed their petition and affirmed the results declared by INEC.

The petitioners further appealed to the Court of Appeal, raising seven issues against the judgment of the tribunal.

But delivering judgment, Justice Adah, who gave only a summary of the Court of Appeal’s verdict on Thursday, resolved all the seven issues raised against the appellants and in favour of the respondents — Fayemi, INEC and APC.

The court, which had conducted a hearing on the appeal earlier on Tuesday, dismissed the case in its judgment on Thursday for lacking in merit.

Justices Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson and Emmanuel Agim agreed with the lead judgment delivered by Justice Adah.

The three-man panel entered the courtroom at about 7pm on Thursday but started delivering the judgment at about 7.14pm.

The summary of the judgment given on Thursday lasted more than 30 minutes.

Alex Akojah, the lawyer who led the petitioners’ team to court on Thursday, told journalists after the judgment was delivered that the legal team would need to be informed by their clients on whether or not they would appeal against the judgment to the Supreme Court.

Travel / Re: Praying, Fasting, Whistle-blowing & Extreme Ways To Secure The Nigerian Passport by teejona(m): 11:06pm On Mar 27, 2019
SageTravels:
Do you have a passport? A Nigerian Passport? Congratulations!

You are one of the lucky few who have endured the torment of queuing up for hours, days, weeks and sometimes months to secure a passport for the official fee of N17,800.

If you don’t have the patience for queues and weeks of meaningless visits, paying an official as much as N40,000 will guarantee you get your passport the same day or at most, in 3 days (depending on the state).

Apparently, I thought I could “do it on my own”. I made the grievous error of paying for my passport renewal online on January 4, 2019. Here is a quick rundown of how the immigration service has frustrated my life.

January 4:

Paid for Passport renewal online (a big mistake as not paying in cash and paying through your nose means your passport renewal/procurement process can take forever).

February 19:

I went to submit my old passport at the Oyo state command, and filled some forms. I was not told a capture was needed. I was only told to come back next week.

March 1:

I went to ask about my passport. Told to come back next week.

March 4:

Visited: no booklet, no passport.

March 6:

Visited and accidentally learned I needed to be captured (it was my first renewal ever). After nearly six hours of waiting, I was captured (picture taken and biodata captured on the portal). As I would later learn, allowing them to capture me when they were already complaining about booklet scarcity was another mistake because once you are captured, you cannot cancel or transfer to another state.

March 11:

Visited: no booklet, no passport.

March 13:

Visited, no booklet, no passport. I met with several officials who advised I meet with the Comptroller. I did meet and He asked me to meet with the official in charge. He was not on seat. The very next day, someone else was occupying the same seat and He did not attend to my request. Meanwhile, a friend told me his brother secured a passport at the Oyo state command within 4 days after paying N27,000.

March 15:

Visited, no booklet, no passport.

March 20:

Visited, no booklet, no passport.

March 25:

Visited twice. On my first visit, the officer I met told me they were attending to backlogs. No time for my passport. The comptroller was on his way out, I could not meet him. I went back by 3:30pm. He told me the person in charge is not on seat, I should check back when He returns. I asked another official who told me the said official had travelled for a marriage ceremony in faraway Kano. Another official asked me the Church I attend, and advised I start praying and fasting. Another official asked me to take my grievances to Servicom. Yet another official encouraged me to take to twitter.

In between these visits, I made countless phone calls to friends, family and immigration officials asking for help. Nothing has worked.

Why do I need my passport badly?

I have been selected as one of the top 24 entrepreneurs in the world with game-changing social enterprise ideas in the GIST TECH-I competition organized by the US Department of State. My flight is booked for April 13. Hotel booked. But I have no Visa. Why? I have no passport. I have also been selected as a Mandela Washington Fellow. I also need to submit my passport by the 27th of March (for Mandela Washington fellowship) and 28th of March (to process my Bahrain Visa).

Every time I visit the Oyo state command, I take along documents, explaining how I am going to be representing Nigeria in Bahrain for GIST TECH-I and why I need my passport badly. It seems I have been speaking Greek and the immigration service has left me no choice but to cry out to Nigerians to save me.

I have a few questions for the Comptroller General and the Comptroller in Charge of Oyo State:

Why is the immigration service always running out of booklets & dealing with backlogs?

Why are immigration officials immune to deadlines & genuine emergencies?

Why must an entire command stand still because an official is not around?

Why must I need to know someone who knows someone before I can secure my passport?

Why do I need to pay 2X or 3X the official rate before I secure my passport?

Why do I need to pray and fast, trend on twitter or write a diary such as this before I get my passport?

I have deadlines looming.

I am a law abiding citizen. No criminal records.

I am travelling to make Nigeria proud.

Immigration service, give me my Passport.
