nevilbot: My question is based on the travel insurance. Please I av a one year travel with mansard insurance. Can I use it or is it compulsory that it most be 3 months. Ur advice qil b apreciated

The letter says "...travel health insurance valid FOR 3 months starting from the date of travel" and when 1 is issued visa, the 90 days on the health insurance doc...corresponds to the no of days u will be given/stamped on the visa. So if ur health insurance is from 1Oct to 31Dec, normally u will get 90 days i.e from 1Oct to 31Dec but if u tell her u are flyn on 10 Oct, she will stamp 10 Oct on ur visa ...meaning 10 days will be deducted from ur 90 days...hence u will end up with 80 days on ur visa.

So based on ur question i am not so sure but i think dey may still hv to select 3 months from the 1year insurance u present, so they can work with it the way i explained above. Hope u find dis useful even if not conclusive enough.

Na Emirates o, had to leave a lot of my clothes behind but made sure I came with my long sleeves, flat shoes, jeans, sweaters and jackets. Food stuff, not much at all. I paid about 119k for the flight and my luggage was 2kg overweight but a kind staff at the check in counter waived it for me. The flight was to Frankfurt.

@abigirl, congrates. I'm happy for u. But how exactly does dis weight tin work? i.e all ur load put together must be 30kg or 54kg? or u can take some other bags with smaller weight, pls lemme know because i just booked to Frankfurt too.

If you arrive Germany and u want to change your University or course, it is advisable u conclude one semester at your present University. By then u must have got your residence permit and settled every paper work and all of these u must do with the University name indicated on your Visa.

Every university has its own system. Some will accept you transfer your first semester grades and allow you continue while some will ask that you start afresh.
Bear in mind however that for whatever University you are changing to, you have to re-apply like a beginner even if the process requires uni-assist.
Even if your previous grades will be transfered, that will be determined after you have applied and have been accepted.

There are no hurdles to face except that you have to go through the application process again and find a new house blah blah blah....
Also be sure to check with your present University before you make any move cos they could have partner Universities where u may not need all the stress or they may require you change after one year.

Thanks u @emeka for ur reply...but i forgot to mention it is an M.Sc programme i am going in for. Hope same rules apply?

These questions that thou seekest answers to severally yet prove elusive, i' faith it must have brought much worry in thine heart.
Let me answer bit by bit from what I THINK I KNOW and read about it while searching for similar answers.

1. I don't really know the university transfer system but I think its just like using your university results here in Nigeria (first year) to gaining a fresh admission. I know that at the PhD level, there might be some discriminatory actions taken against student from UoAS in granting admission directly without requiring they take up some additional courses but am not sure about this at BSc level and every school has their own requirements.

2. Very very unlikely. I stand to be corrected though...1st semester to 2nd? from one uni to another? nah! not likely.

3. I don't really understand your question. But I know you can switch universities or even go to another university which is entirely different from the one you used in processing your visa.

I' faith getting our elders from the land of the Rhine river to grace their presence on this thread is yet more elusive than a blond haired and blue eyed Nigerian lady. Methinks ye must be truly busy but ye are also important here.
People, ye no not what ye have until ye loose it.
I yet refresh this thread seeking for ogbeche77, emeka55 and other elders' counsel ere on my bed I lie.

God bless you all.

Thanks u eke for ur reply...but i forgot to mention it is an M.Sc programme i am going in for. Hope same rules apply?

... Even if it is not your dream course, as long as it gets u a visa, u can change after you arrive...

Hello Emeka, i hv read almost all ur posts here, they are amongst d most enlightening ones here, direct, clear and from experience. I appreciate ur posts. I would like to ask about dat statement i boldened above (i hv tried to google stuff on it, without success):

(1) When one gets a visa and travels for a particular course in a university like an FH and on getting there wants to change to a similar course at like a TU...how does he go about it exactly (processes, setbacks involved)?

(2) Is it after finishing d 1st semester at d first univ. (d FH for instance) dat he can then apply for transfer to d other univ.(d TU for instance) to join dem in the 2nd semester with ur points earned from d initial school?

(3) Can one just decide to transfer from one univ. to another, even one dat he/she might normally hv been rejected for?

NB: considering univs. in the same state, different states, & courses slightly related, not too related. Thanks in advance.

@Eke, @naijaobi, @lacuna, @others i see u all...been seeing all ur inspiring/helpful comments, would appreciate ur comments also. Pls o, help me out...Thanks

yapyap: What alternative do one have if he lost his original waec result?

Do u have a statement of waec result from your secondary school &/or masterlist (containing all ur grades along with those of students that wrote d exam with u)? Then present a waec scratch card.

U could try this if d time frame to replace it may take u too long...just a suggestion, not from experience though.

you mean saying parents is wrong?

Nop, but i believe 'Family' is a better term when filling forms like this until when asked for details.

phucado: Is it possible to attend interviews without paying the 8040 euros? If yes, at the end will they request that you drop your passport or you will have to come back to drop your passport when you have paid the money? What are the chances of getting a visa when you atteneded interview without payment of money. Thanks.

Yes u can attend the interview without d money in ur blocked a/c...infact dat is what many ppl in dis thread are doing, but visa will be issued only after u hv funded it.

They will not request dat u drop ur passport, u will go with it...although u hv to leave behind all ur original documents until u are invited for d visa. I do not think ur visa chances would be affected by lack of fund in a/c as long as u hv met all other requiements.

I advice u to read previous pages from dis thread if u r really interested in dis tin..u will benefit a lot & all these questions u r asking hv all been trashed!

Thanks.

yapyap: Good dayhouse! Do we need to fill the permanent residence form brfore going for interview? Also can one use statement of degree result for the interview if the original is not available yet?

Of course, u have to sit down and carefully fill it, choosing your words & answers carefully. Be very careful when ticking the anti-terrorism part of it. This is not like the form used to open blocked a/c.

As per the Statement of Result in place of the Certificate, some guys in this thread have talked about it b4 & confirmed that it can be used. Just search for their conversation for more details.

& it is called 'Application for Residence permit' form or maybe 'Visa Application' form not 'Permanent Residence' form.

Yea, may be someone who had done a similar thing can elaborate on his/her experience. This things have legal interpretations to it and sometimes opinions from people may not bear out the real meaning and implications.
However, I think your most reliable source of answer will be from the embassy and they have given you a direct though non explanatory answer. I think they have told you all you needed and their shortest answer is more reliable than the most explicitly detailed opinion you can ever get here except maybe from some one whose experiences were guided by the able hands of the embassy themselves.
