Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Answer to your question:

Note that Abuja is faster than Lagos and you will pay a transmission fee if you send to a different vfs than where you did your biometrics.

Wow, congratulations

I submitted October 29th, I should be expecting response any moment from now.

I want to confirm, did you apply that you travelling to reunite with a family member or you a travelling as a tourist. I guess processing is faster for applications of people reuniting with family member.

Reuniting with my son who's a student.

Wow! Big Congratulations. Did you apply using the new portal? Would also like to know if you are a permanent or temporary resident. Thanks

Temporary residents but son is a student in Canada.

Used old portal July 3rd, 2020, reapplied on the new portal one month ago.

If you have a pending application on the old portal and you're eligible to travel (PR family or temporary resident family), please reapply using the new portal and reference your client ID of the old application.

Wish others expecting good luck.

Pls do you or anyone knows what it means for Biometric entrollment for UK visa to turn red on the tls contact tracking page after it was initially marked green.

I went for my Biometric enrollment 2 weeks ago and I have been tracking the progress since then. The BIOMETRIC ENTROLLMENT DONE level was initially marked green immediately after I finished the Biometric enrollment at the VAC but notice it turns red this morning when I was checking the progress of my Visa.

Pls, has anyone experience this, If yes, pls what does it mean?

I have attached the screenshots of after biometrics entrollment and the current status of my Visa.

Pls, your response and comment would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

No need to worry, I don't thinks it is a major issue.
Where did you submit? VI or Ikeja?

Debbieeeeeee:

Most VI applications have come back faster than ikeja . I should have used vi I went to ikeja and paid that 55 pounds I was avoiding, I paid it eventually because the crowd I jammed in ikeja wasn’t small , I had to pay premium to submit and leave.

Thanks @Debbieeeeeee
Can you do a self upload in VI? I ready it here people were paying for assisted upload at a point.

Quick question: I learnt that TLS Victoria Island charges 55 pounds extra but do they have self-upload services to upload ones documents?
Don't want to pick VI then have to pay for assisted upload!

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

Guru in the house,

My son is a student in Canada. My wife had applied for visit visa since June, 2020 that was before my son travelled. Do we need to reapply for my wife since her situation has changed?

Her request for travel authorization was declined:
"Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted."

I'm not sure what to do at this point. Kindly help!

This is really really late.

I hope you can generate it on the school portal and if not, we hope they overlook it at the airport.

People at the airport are not overlooking it.

@All, my son's medical examination had expired due to Covid19 lockdown and travel restrictions. He has done another on June 11st in the UK but it appear the new medical is yet to reflect on Canada website. His status as shown below:

What do I do now as he will be travelling early July. Do I need to send an email to the immigration or what? Also need the email address.

Thanks!

Good day @The exalted

1. About this school fees issue it's not coumplsory to pay before leaving one can pay when he/she gets there. but recently officers at the POE have started asking for tuition fees receipt from students. If he pays then fine if not he would have to convince POE agent as to
Why. Nevertheless students are still entering canada with or without payment of fees.

2. There are no limits to how much cash you can bring into Canada, and it's not illegal to bring large amounts across Canada's borders. However, if you have C$10,000 or more (or the equivalent in a foreign currency), you must declare it at the border.( But make sure to convert money to USD/CAD before travelling).

3.just basic questions about himself, his purpose of visit in Canada, duration of study, funds availability. Etc. You can check the link below to know more about the questions tone asked.

Hope this helps.

My son will soon be travelling to Canada on Student visa. Below are my questions:
1. Do we need to pay his school fees prior to him leaving?
2. How much cash does he need to take along with him?
3. What are the likely questions they can ask him at the boarder?
Will appreciate a quick response.

Thank you!

This awaits your responses @gurus in the house.

From UK.gov site. Published 8 January 2021
All international arrivals to England, including UK nationals, required to present a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure
passengers will be subject to an immediate fine of £500 if they fail to comply with the new regulations on pre-departure testing
all passengers arriving from countries not on the government’s travel corridor list will still be required to self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of test result
passengers will still be required to fill in a passenger locator form and be subject to national lockdown restrictions

25th Dec. it wasn’t required then going to UK and transiting. But you can check their site they constantly update it.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. I called Emirates customer care and they confirm that Covid-19 test is not required. However, I got conflicting response at the Airport today where one staff said yes and the other said no.

I called Emirates again, they told me no that we can check back tomorrow or Tuesday. Traveling Friday. Has anyone travelled recently, like in January on Emirates.

Thanks!

Pls gurus in the house help me ooo....I have been following this wonderful discussion... I live and work in UAE and my basic salary is 1250 AED and I am in Nigeria currently on vacation but wish to visit UK before finally returning to my work in Dubai...I will be getting the sum of #200k from my father for sponsorship.... In my savings account I have 1.7m naira and in my salary account I have 1000 AED... I am budgeting about 860GBP for the trip.... I need your advice pls.

You have a savings of 1.7m and your dad will sponsor you with 200k? Something is not adding up here. The budget looks okay if you will be staying in a hostel or staying with a friend or family. However, your budget is almost double your monthly salary. That's my only concern. I would not bring sponsorship into this equation. You only need a sponsor when you can't afford the trip in most cases.

Good Evening Guys

Please help me here. Am applying for a 2 year visa for i and my wife but these are my issues.

I have made 2 huge withdrawals from my account to save in another account ( Which i ended up spending anyway) in other to block that those two withdrawals from been visible in my statement is it advisable to tender a 3 months Bank statement as against the regular 6 months?

I will so appreciate your help in answering these two questions.

Please give 6 months statement and explain the huge withdrawal and deposit. It will show on both accounts. Your application may be refused for submitting less than 6 months statement. If I were Eco, I will know you're trying to hide something and my decision will take that into consideration.

Short answer: Don't do it, just explain the inflow.
Good luck.
