Celebrities / Who Are 3 Blind But Visionary Musicians? Find Out Here by Theincredible: 12:41pm On Aug 25, 2017
A wise man said ‘Blind minds are worse than blind eyes’. When asked what was worse than being born blind, Helen Keller replied, ‘A life without vision’ These are three incredible musicians who defied all odds and in spite of their seeming disability, they have stood out far above their contemporaries who have sight

Stevie Wonder

Stevland Hardaway Morris though born as Stevland Hardaway Judkins may need some introduction to the new generation of musicians and music lovers but to the older generation he is known as the legendary ‘Stevie Wonder’ Losing his sight after birth as a result of too much oxygen pumped into the incubator but determined to live a life above average decided to make the best of his situation. His turning point came while in class that was being disturbed my a mouse which he pointed was hiding in the waste paper basket. What he lacked in sight, he had in hearing and today he leads the pack of Grammy Award winning artistes, 25 in all also he is one of the most awarded solo male artistes selling over 100 million records worldwide. Who says you can’t make it in a world that is filled with people who have sight and no insight?

Ray Charles

Born as Ray Charles Robinson but known to generations as ‘Ray Charles’ who unlike Stevie Wonder still enjoyed brief stints of his eyesight before blinded at the tender age of seven. Ray was called ‘Brother Ray’ by his fellow musicians while others labeled him ‘The Genius’ because he was the first to combine Rhythm and Blues with gospel. Ray despite his blindness was one of the first African American to be given the right to choose the artistes he wanted to work. Sports / See The 6 Underdog Teams That Became Top Cats by Theincredible: 12:15pm On Aug 25, 2017
Critics, analysts and pundits game them little or no chance because they were rated as the underdogs but they made those armchair critics eat their words as well as humble pie when the dark horses emerged as the winners of the race, a result that not even the prophets of sports saw coming. Here are just a few of those incredible teams who shocked the sporting world making history in the process

1 Nigeria- Atlanta Olympics 1996

They were never given a chance especially by the home fans who booed them while supporting their opponents in a friendly match which saw the Togolese national team defeating the U-23 national team. They got passed their Hungarian opponents with a slim 1-0 victory, beat Japan who had earlier beaten tournament favourites, the samba boys of Brazil. The team lost narrowly to the Brazilians but made it to the semi-finals to meet with Brazil again only this time Nigeria had the last laugh as they came from behind to win by the golden goal courtesy of a well taken Nwankwo Kanu shot. At the end of 90 minutes of their epic final battle with Argentina, Nigeria made history as the first African country to appear at an Olympic final as well as to win the gold, the rest is history as the team that was not preferred became the team to be revered hence their name The Dream Team.

2 Greece- Euro 2004

No one expected it as a lowly rated Greece to progress beyond the group stage yet they beat the hosts Portugal at the group stage and as well in the final in what was tagged as one of the biggest upsets in world football as Greece smiled home with the trophy while Cristiano Ronaldo went home in tears

3 Zambia- African Cup of Nations 2012

They say never pick a fight with someone whose has nothing to lose, yet Ivory Coast who were the tournaments favourites discovered this as they threw away an opportunity to become African champions with Didier Drogba throwing away a penalty in the first half. At the end of full and extra time, it was time for penalty shootout where Africa’s new kings of football emerged, Zambia, a team no one gave a chance took their chance and made the best of it

4 Nigeria-African Cup of Nations 2013

After playing a draw with Zambia and Boukina Fasso and managing to scrape past Ethiopia, the Super Eagles went full speed ahead in a tournament that they had been called ‘Underachievers’ by beating tournaments favourites, Ivory Coast 2-1, thrashed Mali 4-1 and met again with Boukina Fasso only this time a Sunday Mba goal ended Nigeria’s nineteen year search for the title as they were crowned African Champions

5 Portugal- Euro 2016

Portugal in the news again only this time they beat the hosts France who statistically were better on paper and on form than they were. Pundits lost all hope on Portugal as their talisman and skipper, Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off but at the end of the tournament, Portugal became champions of Europe though the odds were stacked high against them.

6 Cameroon- African Cup of Nations 2017

In Ghana 2008 Egypt and Cameroon met at the final in which Egypt won their sixth title. In Gabon 2017 Egypt and Cameroon met again in the final, a final which many football pundits widely believed would be a playback of 2008, were they so wrong because that night instead of Pharaohs picking up their eighth, it was the Indomitable Lions who picked up their fifth title in a tournament that looked down on them

Football stories which replay the epic battles of an inexperienced David faced with an overconfident Goliath, what do you have to say about this?

Sports / Shocking!!! 6 European Footballers Of The Year Who Aren't European by Theincredible: 11:47am On Aug 18, 2017
It is said in Africa, that one must be a bonafide member of a household to share of its inheritance but these people shook a belief to its very foundations, the belief that you must be European to win the European Footballer of The Year Award.

1 George Weah AC Milan (1995)

This son of Africa created several records in the year 1995, by becoming the first African to win European Footballer of The Year and still remains the only African to perform this feat also he became the first non European to win an award which was meant for European footballers. That year he won, African, European and World Footballer of The Year Awards.

2 Ronaldo de Lima Internazionale& Real Madrid (1997&2002)

Since one person had created the way it was easy for others to follow just like Sir Roger Bannister who broke the four minute mile inspiring a generation of others who did the same. Ronaldo followed the lead of George as he won the European Footballer of The Year not once but twice and with two different clubs to prove that the first time he won it was not a fluke

3 Rivaldo Barcelona (1999)

If one Brazilian can do it trust another to repeat it, two years after fellow team mate in the Brazilian national team won the coveted award for European Footballers, Rivaldo hit the mark by becoming the third non European to win the award and the second Brazilian in history to repeat this remarkable feat

4 Ronaldinho Gaucho Barcelona (2005)

There is no stopping the samba boys or the boys in yellow shirts and blue shorts who stop at nothing especially when it comes to the round leather game. Six years after Rivaldo did his native Brazil proud another son of South America who also played for Barcelona did his nation proud and making himself the third Brazilian to achieve this feat, his name Ronaldinho

5 Kaka AC Milan (2007)

Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and guess who is next on the winning list? It is Kaka, telling the world though silent that there is no stopping the boys in yellow because all they do is win, win and win. Kaka became the fifth non European and the fourth Brazilian to win European Footballer of The Year with the same club George Weah won it with, AC Milan

6 Lionel Messi Barcelona (2009)

Yes I saved the best for the last because this list will not be complete without, ‘The Messiah’ makes history as the sixth non European and the first Argentine to win the award. A well deserved award for a worthy player

Two unbelievable facts that you must not ignore are three of the winners of the award, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi won it while playing for Barcelona while George and Kaka won it while playing for AC Milan, dear reader what do you think of all these?

Sports / Men Of God And The Number Seven, Any Connection? by Theincredible: 11:28am On Aug 18, 2017
This is not a religious piece because I can hear some people sighing heavily thinking that this is a write up from one overzealous religious bigot, I admit I am zealous about the things of God but what you are reading from whatever part of the world you are is a piece of mystery that came up while I was worshiping in the morning fellowship sometime back and discovered that there is a link between seven men of God and the number seven.

Take it that in the secular setting seven stands for good luck as I remember that movie of yesteryears ‘Seven Lucky Kids’. In the spiritual world, the number seven stands for perfection. The word ‘Perfect’ has seven letters just think of that. Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church Worldwide is no stranger to the number because his native and surname have consist of seven letters and I mean ‘Adejare’ and ‘Adeboye’. Bishop David Oyedepo, his protege is not left out of the picture for his native and surname also consist of seven letters each, ‘Olaniyi’ and ‘Oyedepo’. Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles belongs to this class of clergymen for his surname consists of seven letters. Also on this list are Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Apostle Gabriel Olusegun Oduyemi who has seven letters in his first and last name and T.L Osborne all of blessed memory and also Dr. Michael Dean Murdock.

Is this mysterious or is just pure coincidence that these seven men of God have seven letter surnames, what do you think dear reader

1 Forrest Whitaker

The chubby, adorable and lovable actor who featured in movies like ‘Diary of A Hitman’, ‘The Enemies Within’ also acted as the feared Ugandan maximum ruler, Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada in the movie Last King of Scotland showing how a country should not be ruled especially by a dictator.

2 Danny Glover

The veteran actor who has acted in many movies and most popular are the Lethal Weapon franchise, Predator 2 and 2012 where he played the role of the President of The United States of America. Danny Glover was the first African American actor to play the role of late South African sage Dr. Nelson Mandela in the 1987 movie ‘Mandela’

3 Morgan Freeman

The veteran actor of the hit movies, ‘Lean On Me’ , ‘Evan Almighty, ‘The Shaw Shank Redemption and ‘Now You See Me’ acted as Nelson Mandela in the movie ‘Invictus’ directed by Clint Eastwood

Washington had already acted in Spike Lee’s movie ‘Malcom X’ where he portrayed America’s most fiery orator of all times, Malcolm X. Manchester United, one of the richest clubs in the England and in the world producing world class coaches like Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and present coach Jose ‘The Special One’ Mourinho producing world class players like David Beckham, Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Cristiano Ronaldo and not forgetting legends like George Best, Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona also they possess two people one a former player and a current player who bear a unique name, Paul.

1 Paul Scholes

The legendary number 8 Manchester fans won’t forget in a hurry and classy Three Lions English fans will always remember for his contributions to his native home playing all his life for the Red Devils where he played a total of 499 appearances scoring 107 goals and providing 55 assists. Paul is the most decorated English football player of all time winning a total of 25 trophies which include 11 English Premier League titles, 2 UEFA Champions League titles, 3 F A Cups, 2 Football League Cups, 5 F A Community Shields, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 FIFA World Club Cup.With a career for the Red Devils that spanned from 1991-2013 and for England 1997-2004 which he was capped 66 times we and say that life has been a ‘ball for this Paul.

2 Paul Labile Pogba

The returnee kid for the Red Devils humorously was born the same year Paul Scholes started playing for the senior team of Manchester United and started playing for the Red Devils in 2011 when the other Paul was about calling it quits with his darling club. He wasted no time at all justifying the money put on him by the big guns of the club, a record £89.3 million pounds to move from the Old Lady of Turin, Juventus to the famous Red Devils of Manchester United in 2016. Like his namesake and predecessor he is a ball of fire comfortable with playing both attack and defence for his club. Though the younger Paul has played fewer games for Manchester United, 30 games and scoring just five goals, he shows great promise of being a legend just like the older Paul. He like Scholes is a regular for the Blues of France which he has been playing for since he was 17 making a total of 105 appearances and scoring 19 goals

Though I am not a Manchester United fan but I am an admirer of these players who are simply awesome what is your opinion?
