Politics / Re: Occupy Nigeria: Updates From Across The Nation by Thirst4Lif: 6:48am On Jan 04, 2012
Good to know ALL Nigerians aren't hiding out on other continents like cowards, while

complaining about conditions in their homeland, but doing NOTHING to create positive

changes!! If you're not helping to better the situations in your homeland, YOU DON'T

GET TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM!! There are times when revolution is necessary so as a

Black American I have great respect for the men and women in the photos!!

The body odor was stifling. Nice guys, but they stunk!!!

Politics / Re: Nigerian Juror Sacked From Mutallab's Trial by Thirst4Lif: 8:42am On Oct 08, 2011
wtf is this? so because she is Nigerian she will 'automatically vote in his favor'?

Stranger things have happened!
Politics / Re: Nigerian Juror Sacked From Mutallab's Trial by Thirst4Lif: 8:39am On Oct 08, 2011
Perhaps, after this woman was interviewed, the defense or prosecuting attorney had a problem with her.

That would have caused her to be dismissed.  But it only goes to show how the U.S. is putting into

motion a prosecution for Mutallab. He can look forward to spending many, many years behing bars.
Politics / Re: Request For Fingerprinting Causes Fall In Visa's Requests by Thirst4Lif: 6:01pm On Sep 26, 2011
Arrant nonsense! I read this news article over the weekend and I think the Ireland Embassy are just not honest or have apoor grasp of the migration dynamics of Nigerians pre and post recession.

Questions:
1.What opportunities remain for migrants in Ireland after the shameless collapse of thier construction industry which hitherto was the major employer of most migrants to that country? The number of previous and recent applicants, (11,000 vs 5,000) in the article would rather suggest Ireland is not seen by Nigerians as a destination of choice for whatever reason. Beside, historically do we really have anything significant to do with the Irish?

2.Is it more likely that the reduction in number of applicant is more likely to do with the fact that applicants are either confused about the new policy/process or that the applicants see the new process as a sign of the would be host country's hostile change of tune to immigrants? The UK is a case study to bear in mind. After introduction of biometrics in certain visas category, applications in Nigeria dropped albeit significantly only to spike up rather quickly and findings revealed really thier initials thoughts were all together wrong.

3. Is this not the same Ireland that is part of the league of five called "PIGS"? So how then would they not factor in the fact that thier weak and near collasped economy would mean less migrants wanting to come through thier doors than ever before?

Lastly, let them bring out the complete data set so we can examine it ourselves like we do with that of the UK. Tell us how many of the applicants applied under which category, students, visitors, work permit, etc.

By the way, I don't give a face to an Irish.

Nicely written. But had the Nigerians in question planned a visit to Ireland with good intentions,

getting fingerprinted wouldn't have frightened them away. People tend to hide when they know they have

a good reason. Why would students, visitors and those seeking a work permit become discouraged by the

thought of being fingerprinted if they weren't guilty of something? They wouldn't! This story is only saying, "

Nigeria, keep your criminals, we have enough of our own!!"
Politics / Re: Request For Fingerprinting Causes Fall In Visa's Requests by Thirst4Lif: 5:49pm On Sep 26, 2011
The Fingerprinting thing scare people away.

True. Which gives us an idea of how many criminals in Nigeria are attempting to

relocate to Ireland. Or just visit and wreak havoc.
Business / Re: Born Between 1974 And 1984? You Can Never Be A Billionaire! - Blogger by Thirst4Lif: 9:44pm On Sep 25, 2011
He then goes on to 'explain' why someone born in the 70s or 80s can't ever be a billionaire.

Perhaps people born in the 70's and 80's can follow the creator of FaceBook's lead.

The advantage we have over that generation is the internet.

I agree wholeheartedly. And I really have a problem with telling young people they

don't have the same potential as people in their 50's and 60's. And I'm sure someone

told these old school guys something equally discouraging when they were young. It's

absolute bull!
Travel / Re: Motives Behind The Constant Desire To Travel Abroad by Thirst4Lif: 12:59am On Sep 24, 2011
B4 i came to live in the Uk,

Are you an African who's relocated to the UK? If so I think the posters point has been made.
Travel / Re: Motives Behind The Constant Desire To Travel Abroad by Thirst4Lif: 12:53am On Sep 24, 2011
There can only be one reason why someone would abandon their birth country or continent.

Because they're not getting what they need or desire at home. It almost sounds like an adulterous

marriage.
Family / Re: LETTER TO NIGERIAN PARENTS by Thirst4Lif: 1:50am On Sep 23, 2011
MY advice to Nigerian parents is to stop making demands of your children that

you yourself can't even live up to!!
Family / Re: Medical Examination By Your Brother-In-Law: Right Or Wrong? by Thirst4Lif: 12:14am On Sep 19, 2011
It depends on the type of examination we're talking about. If it's a breast exam or a vaginal exam, definitely not.

Your brother in law should not become so familiar with his sister in laws private areas.
Family / Re: by Thirst4Lif: 10:59pm On Sep 17, 2011
We really should be mindful of WHEN the Koran and the Bible were written. Times have greatly changed, thank Goodness!

Women were no more than cattle during the time these books were composed. Today, women are heads of households,

in a great many cases, working outside the home to help with the upkeep and maintenance of the family. Whose fault is that!!!

Man's or woman's? Why were the Koran and the Bible not followed in those cases? But when it comes to striking a woman,

THEN some of you want to regurgitate portions of the Koran and the Bible to support your argument. This is laughable. Perhaps if men did

THEIR jobs women would be more likely to follow their lead!!
Family / Re: by Thirst4Lif: 10:43pm On Sep 17, 2011
In answer to the OP's question, first and foremost, choose your mate carefully and allow yourself

time to get to know the individual before marriage. This is why I'm a proponent of lengthy courtships

and engagements. It gives you, both men and women, time to witness how an individual reacts to certain situations. My advice

to women, if a man proposes marriage within a short period of time, Beware!!

He may be rushing you to the altar before you become aware of the man he really is. And more than likely,

this is intentional. Where women are concerned, the poster 'Minute' gave very good advice. I'm bothered by the

fact you used the word 'discipline' in your post. You can't successfully discipline an adult. There are laws against such actions.

Sit down and talk to your mate to find out why his or her tongue is 'caustic', as you say.  That's how adults handle these situations.

Only children are allowed to throw temper trantrums and strike out in anger. And it's even frowned upon in a child. Think and act

as a mature adult, which does not include hitting and screaming.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Toba Speaks On Why He Is Attracted To Muslim Girls And Would Like To Marry One by Thirst4Lif: 10:00pm On Sep 17, 2011
To Toba: If this woman you speak of makes you happy and you in return make her happy, then best wishes to

both of you. But please, do not think just because an individual worships as a Muslim this makes

them a better person. I've known men and women of both faiths and the only difference in these people

IS their religion. There are good and bad Muslims, just as there are good and bad Christians. Look into this woman's

character, just as she should closely examine yours, to determine whether your match is the correct one. Monitor

her actions a lot closer than what comes out of her mouth. This is where the truth can be found.
Business / Re: Unoccupied Houses In Lekki: Built With 'Corruption Money'? by Thirst4Lif: 9:43pm On Sep 17, 2011
A lot of people in Nigeria simply do not understand the impact of corruption.

If you're referring to those who ARE corrupt, of course they understand! They simply do not care about the impact it has on others.

They only care about the impact it has on their own bank accounts. Greed and selfishness go hand-in-hand.
Religion / Re: God Allegedly Directed A Pastor To Divorce His Eloped Wife by Thirst4Lif: 9:31pm On Sep 17, 2011
I'm wondering whether his wife is still alive. In 15 years he hasn't gone

to visit her? She may be Resting in Peace under a flowerbed in their backyard.
Business / Re: 'RUNS' Business In Nigeria: A Multi-billion Naira Industry? by Thirst4Lif: 9:25pm On Sep 17, 2011
So, in the unlikely event that you come across Shirley or Dami someday, don't look down on them. See them as investors or business owners or even professionals in an evolving, dynamic and multi billion Naira industry -RUNS.

Sounds like the writings of Umar Mutallab. But a w.hore by any other name is still a w.hore, my friend!! Don't be fooled. And PLEASE don't try

to fool US! It won't work!!
Family / Re: Your Mom Of 58 Years Old by Thirst4Lif: 12:55am On Sep 16, 2011

I tip my hat to this Mom of 58 who's decided to further her education. I'm sure the woman

has supported her husband and raised her family, now it's her time to reach whatever goals

she desires. I hope she reaches for the Moon!

Kudos to Mom!!!
Politics / Re: Osama Bin Laden Is Alive - Abdulmutallab by Thirst4Lif: 12:46am On Sep 16, 2011
The one thing I detest about the U.S. is that it does a lot of things for appearance sake. I think the U.S. is

far to conscious of how it will appear to others throughout the world. But this Mutallab guy can show up in

court smeared with peanut butter and in his birthday suit and it will not matter. Notice how the judge shot

down his demand for being judged by Islamic law? And also how statements were made explaining why he was

not mirandized? What they're doing is building an iron clad case against this guy. Mutallab is toast, believe me!
Politics / Re: Osama Bin Laden Is Alive - Abdulmutallab by Thirst4Lif: 4:01am On Sep 15, 2011
Every account I've read of Abdulmutallab's behavior indicates he's insane. It's odd

no one in his family recognized how crazy the guy was before December, 2009.

Why do people just think they have the right to kill in the name of religion.

And if their faith is so strong, why don't they leave the taking of lives up to their God?

Do they think he's incapable of doing the job himself?
Crime / Re: Slain Banker's (titilayo) Husband Attempts Suicide by Thirst4Lif: 4:14am On Sep 13, 2011
^^^Dud this is a husband and wife situation. Husbands don't just wake up and kill their wives. While I will not defend the guy, we must keep our fingers crossed and not pass judgement yet. I have heard some info from family sources that suggest a lot more than the stories you are hearing. Even from the girls family. And it doesn't necessarily vindicate the guy but does give a more detailed insight into the issues. This might just be a case of a fight turned sour from an husband who has been living in hell. Remember the Nigerian ambassador to Kenya case? Now that does not justify any killing but you must not conclude that the guy is just a bare faced killer which some seem to portray.

You say we don't know the whole story, which is true. But I'm wondering what part of the 'whole story' would

justify his murdering and dismembering his wife, the mother of his child? Do you think there's a portion of the

'whole story' that will make us say, "Aha, well I can certainly understand him taking her life!! I would have done

the same thing myself!"  You're either quite the jokester or you're a member of this lunatics family. And if things

were so unbearable, why didn't he leave?? Because of his stupidy his wife is now dead and he's in prison attempting

to end his own life.
Family / Re: Do Married Women Need Privacy From Their Husband? by Thirst4Lif: 12:58am On Sep 06, 2011
Everyone needs privacy. No one person belongs to another. Only an insecure man or woman

wants to know what their mate is doing and thinking every second of every day.
Properties / Re: My Landlord Insists On 1year Rent. by Thirst4Lif: 12:53am On Sep 06, 2011
I am a landlord, normally my tenant are paying N150,000 for a year which i have increased to N150,000 for 6 months, who is losing? I LOVE FASHOLA GOV.

I get worried about everything

ladies and gentlemen how do you feel whenever you think you are growing old?

Look on the bright side, maybe you'll die young! Hope that makes you feel better. It's

the only alternative to aging.
Culture / Re: Why Are People Buried Late After Death? by Thirst4Lif: 12:55am On Sep 02, 2011
@OP As you stated, sometimes there are extenuating circumstances as to why it takes

longer for a body to be interred. I've known people to be buried on the same day of

their deaths; I've also known it to take a week, sometime two weeks. It is what it is.

If you have a personal situation perhaps you should pass on more information so we

may discuss your particular set of circumstances.
Career / Re: I Hate My High-paying Job. What Should I Do Please? by Thirst4Lif: 12:44am On Sep 02, 2011
i don't really enjoy job satisfaction, i.e I am not totally happy with my job.

Did someone guarantee you total happiness in life? You have a job you're not particularly

fond of, but you're amply compensated. Does this mean nothing to you? You complain of

not advancing in the company. Perhaps your superiors feel you're not ready to be promoted

to a higher position. Honestly, considering the unemployment rate throughout the world,

you sound like a whiner. There's a possibility your employers have recognized this as well.

My suggestion is remain with the company and soak up all the knowledge

you can. I'm sure if you're as good in your position as you feel you are your time for being

promoted will come.
