He cannot speak English or he was using his accent with English?
I also experienced the thrash you put in the the SE teachers that can't even speak broken English properly. That is not enough to say that the rubbish over there is true about any of the regions.

My brother if you leave in Lagos or Ibadan, it's not representative of south west oh. Southwest has lost the Awo legacy. I am Igbo married to a Yoruba from Osun. During my service years in OGS Osun state, you hardly find English speakers in the full community: Odo-Otin, after Ikirun before Offa in Kwara State. SS2 n SS3 classes, only 2or 3 can speak English. Go to market, road, bar, everywhere you have to speak Yoruba.

My father is an "illiterate", dropped at standard 5, that's primary 5 but he speaks English like an ND holder. My father-in-law who retired from Unilorin as a non academic staff can't speak English. My mother-in-law, don't go there. I am forced to speak Yoruba.

Took my wife for burial in a village in Abakaliki, Ebony state with is the least in education in the East. She doesn't speak Igbo, but could communicate with old women selling fruits, egusi, etc They tell you prices in English, something that never happened in the West. You hear naira mefa etc. Have had this discussion severally with my wife.

It was difficult to see Offa poly students speak good English. During my wedding in Ilorin, my wife's younger sister came with her fellow students from Kwara State University, same story my brother: bad grammar.

This is pure lies. The north having more qualified teachers than south?

Fact. The average northern isn't ambitious. When they finish university, the are happy with 50k- 70k teaching jobs. Food and accommodation is cheat too. But how many graduates teach here by choice, so we are left with secondary school leavers.

It's a fact bro

Of course! When I was in primary school in the early 90's, I knew this as a fact, because the very worst of Corpers educationally were seen for the first time in the secondary school my mom taught. They couldn't speak simple and correct English language. It was strange and a huge shock to the whole school. In fact, the school had never seen these types of poorly educated Corpers before. This school was in Delta state. The Corpers were from the South West. I never forgot that fact and the more I was coming in contact with South westerners who schooled in the South West, the more I was convinced that there was a terrible standard of education over there. It was from a south westerner who schooled in the South West that I first heard the strange word "gooder", instead of "better". I was in secondary then and this South westerner was a serving corper living with his brother in the compound I lived.

I completely agree with you. Served in Osun state border town with Offa, Kwara State. Hardly met Offa poly students who can string correct sentences together. Especially true for those of them who grew up there. In OGS, the secondary school l taught, SS2 n SS3 students can't express themselves in English.

One more thing though, there is no way that speed is 120km/hr, not on that road at least. At 120km/hr no driver can afford to be distracted as reaction time is very short.

Point B

Be calming down. 120km/hr no be speed if you are on interstate road where you are seeing 100km straight road ahead of you with probably only you on a space of 5km radius

Bros are you sure you dey drive? No vex, no offense meant

120km/hr is about 75m/hr. If you can't drive at that speed and converse at the same time, then you never sabi drive.

My brother, l think say na only me see that nonsense.

I do 140 and still chit chat, take pictures of other cars or the scenery. Wetin be 120km. Abeg next

Akin Alabi has an account on Nairaland: akinalabi
David Hundeyin visits Nairaland every day. There are CEOs and wealthier folks who are members of Nairaland. Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria. Anyone who wants to understand how Nigerians think and behaviour would know more from Nairaland than TwitterNG or Reddit/Nigeria (very unrealistic bunch of miscreant are there). Invictus was a Nairaland member and even the FBI referenced Nairaland. Any Nigerian who wants to japa learns more from Nairaland than anywhere else. Any Nigerian who wants to get a perspective of living abroad as a Nigerian learns it from Nairaland not Snapchat or TikTok or Reddit.

There are many Nigerians who are exchanging valuable contacts and connections via Nairaland. I got my first job from Nairaland. The CEO was a member. There are Nairalanders running multimillion businesses which they started from using ideas and connections from Nairaland.

Any Nigerian who disregards Nairaland is one overfed, overpampered, unrealistic, Woke-culture lovey-dovey fellow who most likely lives in Lekki where s/he drinks soakaway water and inhale generator fumes, while chanting mumbo-jumbo American culture wars rhetoric.

True that

You are underrating the power of an internet forum.

When I was into writing, I started sharing my works on different forums, I was surprised at the caliber of people I started having private conversations with. Some were celebrities, and some from A class family background in different countries.

Don't be surprised that Bola Ahmed Tinubu and co visit Nairaland as guest and some with unknown registered handles.

If not that Twitter is well known and people don't hide their identity there, would someone like you ever believe the richest man on earth sleeps and wakes up there even before he acquired it? Same with Donald Trump.

Financial status sometimes don't stop people from living their natural life, and most times financial success brings an artificially induced loneliness, boredom and curiosity that pushes most successful people into doing crazy things like crawling the internet spaces for fun and to kill success-induced boredom

as a professional farmer I am scratching my head over this figures because the pepper I know especially super habanero will do better than 200% roi,for instance such small turnkey project will not cost no more than #300k to harvest,15 bags weekly for 15 weeks is 78 bags, the remaining weeks will round it off to 100+ bags, which at a price of #15-19k we will have an average of #1.6 m,from this figures it is easy to conclude that 500% ROI was produced by that farm and on professionally managed pepper farm 1000% Roi is easily achieved,if you know what you are doing

Hi Emeka,

I am doing a greenhouse for bell pepper and have everything sorted out except selling after harvest. Any ideas? 08030814445

So Dangote of all people don turn to local titan...

Na English de worry you.

Local in English means home grown.

Not the nonsense meaning we give to the word in Nigeria.

If you were in Spain, you will refer to real Madrid as a local football club. In the US, Tesla and Microsoft are local companies. In England, those who live in Manchester or Liverpool etc will be called locals.

The word in your mind is primitive. Local does not mean primitive as used by Nigerians.

@mods, kindly regulate this forum.

We all should observes some level of decency even in the face of rising tempers. Our temperaments can be contained with our IQs and EQs.

fuckkk off and stop being stuppiiiddd, you married from a mentally deranged family. The southwest is a region of over 50 million people, we’ve family is not thesame! Generally, yorubas don’t force for bride price, we are talking about marriage requirements here and your delusional tribal is tic idiottt was talking about burial rights. In YORUBA LAND that I know of, majority will take the bride price and return it to their daughter except u married from a useless family. There are useless families everywhere. No one send you to marry from the wrong family in the SW, fulfilling your in laws ceremonial rights is not by force, it’s by choice. If you are not pleased with it, go back to the east and marry with your 1.5m and stop complaining. And please don’t quote me anymore, I won’t reply.

You are the idiot here. All of a sudden, you remember the sw is over 50 million...there are useless families everywhere... and families are not the same. These sound like excuses when it's Yoruba. Same excuses you didn't make when Igbo's were in the picture, you swept them with the same broom. Do you know the meaning of tribal bigotry?

Okpuno, do you know how much l spent to marry from Osun state? None of my brothers and friends who married Igbos spent as much. None had to buy a cow. Again, you ma'am is a tribal idiot. Nonsense

I can’t help you here , you obviously didn’t marry from the south west. You did from the east or south. Over here, marriage requirements isn’t that difficult. They will clearly tell you they are not selling their daughter
.

Shut up madam. You are a bigot and a tribal idiot.

I am Igbo and married a Yoruba from Osun, living in Ilorin. I am in the op's exact shoes. Lost father in law who was buried 27 April. Your people demanded 400k from me. Wifey stayed close to 2month. Received all sorts of insults.

All the kids who couldn't buy him an Android phone when he was alive, were ready to make 400k donations for cow and party to impress visitors. Shame.

But they were messing with the wrong man. Stood up to them. Ignored their antics. Las las, mother inlaw came begging.

One more time, Bleep off with this tribal nonsense.

I have no issues with this anthem! I find both its melody and lyrics to be quite enjoyable.

We need musical artists to get to work right away. We need the rock, blues, pop, reggae, and Afrobeat versions.

Why did Afrobeat come last...just thinking aloud

Here is my question specifically: An uncle of hers who has a dredging license is willing to issue her a backdated job offer letter with payslip (note that his company is not really functional for some 3 years now). Another friend of mine who is into real estate is also willing to offer the same favour. Please, do you think it will scale through or what do you advise, my boss?

Hey bro, i'v got the answer you need, it's just too sensitive to put on the travel section. That's why I'm writing you on a dead thread. Reach out uchemaino01@gmail.com
