Hello sir.

I was in similar situations a few months ago.

You can do the PTE academics UKVI instead.

pearsonpte.com/selt-tests/pte-academic-ukvi

It is accepted in US ,Canada, Australia,Germany and other countries.

I find it far easier to pass than IELTS. with about 2-3 days YouTube videos you should be good.

It is purely computer based.

Your test result comes out in about 2 hrs .

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much to everyone who offered advice in December! Your help was invaluable in getting my Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) from my line manager in mid-January.

Moving forward, I have some questions about proof of English for my Skilled Worker Visa application as a software developer. While I've requested a letter of English proficiency from my university, I'm concerned about the turnaround time. Additionally, I haven't been able to find any upcoming IELTS UKVI test dates near me.

With that in mind, I have two questions:

1. Can I use the IELTS UKVI Academic test to meet the English language requirement for my Skilled Worker Visa application?
2. Are there any alternative English language tests accepted for Skilled Worker Visa applications that might have shorter waiting times for appointments?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Career / Re: Is 400k Job In Nigeria Worth Staying Or Should I Japa? by TouchOfSpice(m): 2:35pm On Jan 03
Hi.

First and foremost, congratulations on the news of your baby.

in my opinion, since you are a medical professional, If you have the means to travel legally, Please grab the opportunity.

While i was in Nigeria, I was priviledged to earn far more than 500k as an IT Professional, after a thorough review of my life , I took the bait and i must admit i am glad i made the move.

After all expenses and bills, I am still able to save double of my Naija salary if i convert it to Naira.

Truely , life isnt a bed of roses anywhere, but with the rate of effort you put to work here in Naija, if you put same abroad you may likely earn more.

Think about it this way, With your present 400k Naira after removing all monthly expenses, How much do you have left?

Can the savings you have sustain you and your new family in case of any unforseen circumstances?

Nevertheless, this is just my personal opinion, you are free to look within yourself and make the deceision.

Look within yourself and make the judgement call that best suits you. I wish you all the best in any deceision you make.

Cheers!

Ok. Thank you for your response. I will do as advised.

Goodly1:

Don't waste your time applying for Ecctis without the complete requirements. You must include your transcript, at least a stamped & signed student copy, if they still accept this copy.
Travel / Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by TouchOfSpice(m): 2:52pm On Nov 23, 2023
Hi Everyone.

Please i need your clarification on Ecctis. I understand from the guidance you shared on the front page that i will need my certificate,Transcript and my medium of instruction letter from my school.

I have applied for my transcript from my school, unfortunately it is taking ages. My school is known for delays. I am under a tight deadline to submit the ECCTIS to process my application.

Can i apply for ecctis with my Bsc certificate and the medium of instruction letter only.

What is the possibility of it being approved.

Cheers!

Ohhh ok. Surprisingly I am yet to experience that kind of experience you described with OCTOPUS.

To the best of my knowledge they have a good tariff system (if not the cheapest I know)

. My electricity and Gas combined has never gone pass 80 pounds. And maximum of 40 pounds during the govt subsidy period.

6 of my friends that migrated from other popular providers have been able to cut their monthly cost by over 50%.

You may try to browse through their tarrif and migrate to the cheapest tarrif plan.

https://octopus.energy/tariffs/

I wish you well in all you do.

Cheers!!

Alexia20:

I dont get it ,why the mad rush for octopus ? Octopus that can increase your DD without prior notice and their tariff is not even cheap . octopus can use 2 weeks to respone to your mail and you cant reach them even on phone .I use octopus but I cant stand the shock of their daily increase of my tarrif based on one their experimental forecast which doesnt even make any sense to me and i am already shopping for a better energy deal elsewhere .Goodbye to bad riddance .

Hello Sir.

Thank you so much for your response.

The FGN bond option sounds cool and secured to me. I will give it a thought.

Since it's a lump sum investment, perhaps I would save up like 2-3 months equivalent and close my eyes to try it out.

Thank you.

Chreze:

If you are open to other options (Nigeria)

You can buy the FGN savings Bond. You can buy from most banks I believe.

====== Info =====
Interest Payment: Payable quarterly

Redemption : Bullet repayment on the maturity date

Effective yield :
2yrs - 10.706%
3yrs - 11.789%

========

This is government bond so you are guaranteed of your returns and capital at the end. Quite short. Exchange rate is good now. You can change now. Also you can be keeping your pounds for whenever the rate goes up and just throw it in.

Anything federal government bond is guaranteed. No story. Atleast from my knowledge for so many years.

Hello my Seniors in the House .

Please I need your opinion again.

Please do you guys know of any legit/smart savings /investment plan in the UK that will yield good returns/interest.

I would prefer investment/savings whose tenure/maturity would not be more than 1 year. Then I can Renew again.

I intend to try the ground with about 1000-1500 pounds monthly .

I hear ISA is a long term investment of about 5 years+. Too long for me. (I might be wrong).

Secondly, I booked for my passport renewal last week, (Passport expires January)

I was given appointment date of September 4.... I have printed out payment and appointment slip.

But last night I got a reversal for the fee from innovate .

Please can you advise on what to do.

Thank you .

That sounds way too much and creepy.
They can come up with anything just to get rid of you

Thank you @Alphauno and everyone for your input.

I want to ask, if i keep my mouth shut and not disclose it anyone or let the weekeend job affect my performance. is there anyway they can find out?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by TouchOfSpice(m): 10:38pm On Feb 03, 2023
Thank you sir for the clarification. I appreciate.

koonbey:

You can't do the other job during your work hours, which is typically Monday - Friday 9 - 5 or whatever you configuration is stated in your contract.

You can do it on the weekends as you plan but only if you're sure it won't affect your performance or ability to discharge your duties at your main job.

Just bear in mind that should any issues arise as to your performance and the company is or becomes aware you had a second job, they'd be able to say you breached your contract regardless of how true it might be, because the contract gives them discretion.

If your stay is up to a year, get argos card and spread the payment. If not, try PayPal pay-in-3 or klana pay in three.

Yeah I think I can relate to some extent.

Jobs in the UK might make you feel like sey village people follow you come .

First 5 weeks in the UK was trying for me , despite the naija expectation I had that I will get a job immediately I arrive in the UK. Countless calls and interviews, even to some reaching final stage with their CTO na still silence later.

But when the time comes, I was opportuned by Gods grace to get an offer immediately after the last interview. Ever since na me dey ignore interview invite and postpone , surprisingly they will wait till any date you reschedule to. (This you can't try with my naija HR)

To cut the long story short, when the time comes , the same CV / your interview format you have been using will now start yielding offers like sey you do jazz.

As someone said above, never emphasize too much on visa sponsorship during the call /interview when you get the offer you can lay it on table and they will most likely oblige you. I did not asked for sponsorship during my interview.

In my present job the Head of HR is already asking me that am I willing to to be considered for sponsorship after my probation period. I am still sceptical simply because I know I am considering a position in Manchester metropolitan with 30% salary increase.

But it's sweet to work with the White o. They work smart but PLAY hard. Imagine having dinner/hangout event every 2 Thursdays of the month . There is even beer and drinks in the fridge to pop when you feel stressed. This I can never imagine in my naija.

Don't give up. Your hustle go click .

Cheers!!

Hello sir.

What the brother has done is entirely wrong in all ramification. I would please implore you to please forgive him for the stress he put you and every one through.

I'm a bit elated that he still has conscience to come back and attempt to make amends. The curses you laid on him is a bit too much. Please have it in mind to forgive him.

His maker would forgive him if his intentions and apology is genuine. ... If God can likely forgive him then who are we humans to curse who God might have forgiven .

I comnend him for coming out to apologies and I hope he refunds all the illegal money he collected also

Cheers sir

Thank you so much for your prompt response .

Please at what point can I write the cover letter, is it now or before biometrics or after visa .

I would have canceled and reapply but I don't have enough funds to reapply at the moment .

Thank you so much.

mimilyrics:
Resubmit the application and include your daughter. Alternatively, you can write a cover letter to correct this error but I'd say it is better to do a fresh application for your own peace of mind.
However you do it, your daughter has to be declared to prevent stories that touch.

Good morning everyone.

Please I need your advise .

My agent erroneously forgot to include my daughter as my my dependant during the visa application. Though my daughter won't be going with me now.

Will this pose a problem whenever I decided to bring my daughter to the UK in the future .

Is there anyhting I can do.

Visa and ihs fee has been paid .

I just discovered the error when I downloaded and reviewed my application form from ukvi website .

Thank you .
