CHARLOE:

D 1st mistake u made was going ahead with d wedding after losing ur job, u should have invested d money spent on d wedding, that's gone now, just an aside. Maths teachers are always in demand, reach out to ur former students parents for home lessons, put out adverts even on nl, talk to people u know. Maths is a challenge to most students, n many parents are looking for home tutor for their wards. Reach out to friends n family, former classmates.
This is a lesson to young men; invest in yourself B4 marriage, most women are desperate to get married cos of societal pressure, after wedding eye go clear if u can't provide n their true colors comes out. A woman's love is conditional on d premise u provide.
My advice is; focus on yourself, it's a serious physical n mental battle, but you'd succeed. Don't bother too much about your wife, if d heat too much at home, find somewhere relocate to temporarily, u need to guard ur heart diligently n have a clear head to map out a plan/strategy. What skills do u have, can u drive? Then Uber/bolt is an option, consider volunteering etc think, plan n work on it. Good luck bro

Follow this advice. He has said it all!

U have not still answered my question. Cos all you are trying so hard to explain is that it is good for you and not others. So i ask again "when are u leaving the UK?" .

When are you bringing your entire family/village so it results in uncontrolled chain migration? Seems your issue is actually comprehension not immigration policy. If you like cry from now till tomorrow, all countries will continue to reserve the right to control their borders, including our beloved country Nigeria (remember Ghana must go), FGS people are even asking people to go back to their home states in Nigeria, yet you can’t understand why govt would want to control migration numbers. Continue in your folly, I wish you all the best.

I am asking a simple question. The question is when how are you planning to leave?

Your response above doesnt look like a time frame.

A simple question without context or relevance to my argument.

I’ve not advocated for reverse or zero migration, in fact I’ve criticized the merry-go-round position (come today, go tomorrow is unfair and wrong). Rather I believe “sustainable” migration should be the goal.

Since we’re creating boogeyman arguments now — why do you want the UK to open the floodgates and banish visas/immigration controls so 10million people can come in annually? It’s foolhardy to think there’s no limit to how many can come regardless of who came first. Every civilized nation has border controls for reason.

When are you planning to leave the U.K to help decongest some of these over crowded facilities?

Let’s have open borders then. Scrap visas and let everyone come in today. 10million in one year. Free for all! You’ll be the first to run out.

You make some points but I find the bolded interesting. Are immigrants really the cause of NHS woes? I remember we were told same thing about the EU

Let me give a brief history of the NHS- its a sector that has always relied on immigrants. From the windrush arrivals of the 1950s who took on menial jobs. Then Asian and Nigerian medics of 1960- 1980s many of whom became GPs that virtually saved primary care from collapse. Some of the offspring of this group are quite popular e.g Kemi and Sunak. The 90s saw the influx of Eastern Europeans who took up roles in nursing, care, medicine e.t.c. Early 2000 were the Philipino nurses and recently its back to Nigerian and Asian medics again.

Let me ask...

1. What do you think would happen to the NHS wait times if all immigrants left the UK?

2. What happened in the care sector when Eastern Europeans stopped coming?

3. When was the last time you were in a GP waiting room? (no insult intended). Even in places which are quite diverse, look in any GP waiting room and observe the demography of people sat. The fastest growing age bracket in the UK is still the over 80s... In Healthcare, its a well established fact that in a system like ours, 10 % of users would use about 90% of resources. How many immigrants do you think form part of that 10%?

Awww so cute. How altruistic of these migrants from different countries coming to save the NHS out of the goodness of their hearts! No pay or compensation or security for their children’s future in a working system which has led to the rise of Kemi Badenoch and co. I used GPs as an example, but the impact in my view is not limited to Healthcare alone (although there’s no denying 1.5m net migration in two years would affect services). Also Housing is impacted (see what’s also happening in Canada). Schooling and other general services. What’s the plan for everyone? Or is the goal just to “save” the NHS with the migrant workers and pay no heed to the unintended consequences.

I know first hand the difference between public services 2009/10/11/12 and what we are going through now. I never heard anyone waiting 2yrs plus for elective surgery etc.

To add to this, the Home sec in his statement this week said that they estimate that around 75% of dependants do not work, but still make use of public services. That is part of the reason why they felt justified to restrict dependants, majority of whom they believe take more than they contribute, in other words the UK is doing them a favour.

I'm not saying that they are 100% right, but pointing out how the other side thinks and views things.

This is indisputable. I know how much Caesarean Section costs in private hospitals in Nigeria or if you travel to USA or Canada to give birth. It’s very very expensive. I’m sure we all know people who arrived “yesterday” and given birth “today”. It will easily swallow the Ihs fees. Not to mention free schooling for children. There is no free lunch, the money is coming from somewhere.

It's that oppressive mindset from Nigeria you see playing out here, because I can't control a situation I should lay low and just accept any bullshit that comes my way. It's funny how people on a visa in this country support policies that may come back to bite them in the long run. This is how some unwise immigrants in the US were supporting Trump until his policies started biting them, especially in bringing their families over into the US. No immigrant is a beggar in this country, the immigration system is like an hotel business where people pay per night to stay. Let everyone check their payslips at the end of the month and see how much they pay in taxes and NI for the system to continue to run. You are virtually paying for every day you live here and let no one come and tell us that immigrants contribute little or nothing else the PM will not be increasing visa fees and ihs fees to fund an increase in wages. The UK is in heavy debt and has already borrowed over 90% in comparison to its GDP. No one is doing anyone a favour here (which is what some folks think here), we are all in business both us and the people making the policies.

How can you claim no one is doing anyone a favour when the immigration numbers demonstrates people are coming in droves? If it was a 50/50 business deal like you say, shouldn’t direction be in both ways or fairly stable. I don’t just mean from Naija (India, China, Pakistan etc. are on the list). The truth is people will move from areas of economic hardship to areas with more opportunities…just like Osmosis. When you come and you start paying tax in the new system, were you not paying tax in the previous location? What did you get in return? If it’s not a fair deal, people would stop coming and enjoy their extra “money”.

That said, I think immigration should be sustainable, otherwise we overload the system and we get the same “unworkable” system some of us were running away from. When last have you visited a GP or house-hunted? There’s no doubt in my mind this “tiny-Island” is under a lot of pressure and it needs to be released somehow. I don’t like the uncertainty of the immigration laws (they should be fairly stable so people can plan and not be stranded), but how many countries are viable alternatives? Maybe Canada, Australia, USA…be things May even be changing in these countries as well. In terms of voting or making a change, not sure the immigrant vote/lobby is significant enough to move the needle.

Las las, everyone go Dey alright.

How I wish we could get our acts right as a country, doesn’t even have to be el dorado, just back to 2015 economic outlook and the influx from Nigerians won’t be as bad. God punish APC for forcing middle class Nigerians to flee their country!

These new immigration laws make no sense. If they wanted to control it reasonably, they should have fixed net migration caps e.g 250k or whatever their target is. All these forecast to reduce it by 20% by 2024/5 is rubbish. Nobody knows how people will react. I’m going to predict same reaction they got in 2011 onwards. A lot of people will avoid UK and then they’ll make changes again to try and attract students and workers. Merry-go round! I also noticed they were scared to touch PSW (for now), that would have been the final nail to drop overseas intake to zero. Confused bunch of politicians/policy makers.

Get mastercard (or other cards) and be ready to move your dollars to the card at the point of withdrawal. You will withdraw pounds at the prevailing exchange rate for the day.
Sorry can you elaborate further.
I have a USD Mastercard already.
Are you saying I should go to the Naija bank branch and ask for a cash withdrawal then use Aboki to change to GBP? Or for them to put it in GBP (?) Mastercard?

On point.

Pls what amount can he put as his total spend? Thanks

Depends on the trip duration.
Flight + feeding money (I’m assuming she’s stay in his house, otherwise include accommodation /hotel costs as well). Ensure the total amount is reasonable compared to monthly salary. For example if he earns £2000/ monthly but wants to spend £10,000 for this trip. It’s a big red flag and may lead to visa refusal. Very common reason actually.

Please tell ur brother to send the money into your mother's account, and use remark of trip expenses or something of that nature

Also let ur brother upload like 3 month pay slips and evidences of his work place

Reason i am saying this is because if the money is in ur brother acc and not ur mum acc ur mum maybe denied because visa officer might say there might be a possibility that if the mama comes to uk the guy wont release the money to her as she is not in full custody of the money and she is at the mercy of the son so its better the mama is in full custody of the money

The same happen to my sis
She used her company acc to apply she even uploaded every document to show she owns the company

She was denied because they said company money is not the same as personal money that why dint she move the money to her personal acc

That what if the board of director did not allow her spend from the company acc after she has enter uk

Can u imagine, for her own company one man company o, sole proprietary company

I’m not entirely sure that’s the reason for refusal. When filling the application form, there’s a question which says who will sponsor the trip? In the case of mum’s visit, the son can insert his details. The issues you raised is when you choose the mum is going to be responsible for the trip and have the funds in a different account. Better to put £1 or N1 as what her contribution to the trip expenses will be. Then provide payslips, bank statements etc of the real sponsor to back up the application. For mum’s occupation, he can put housewife or retire. Nothing like business person or employee.

Believe me, it was worse. We were the last set that did post study visa before it was stopped. Theresa May was Home Secretary then.

Yes it was worse then. Imagine doing a 3yr degree hoping for PSW upon graduation, only for PSW to be cut short in your year 2. Then you have 4months to leave the country after graduation if you don’t get the kryptonite sponsorship back then. About 90% of people in a closed circle returned to Naija in 2012 - 14.

Nothing like affordable car again in this youkay! Gone are the days of cheap oldie for £600 or lower. Then after finding cheap car, insurance go show you shege lol.

Jokes apart, try gumtree, facebook marketplace (beware of scammers) and auto trader. Go for manual from 2005 upwards. Ford and Japanese products are reliable. I’m assuming you just need to move from point A to B…hence the basics. Anyway, whatever the cost, cars are worth it. Taxis are expensive and public transport generally wastes valuable time, plus winter is coming /is here. Goodluck!

Canada PR application process is not easy at all. Age disqualifies a lot of people. Even those with Msc. are affected except if one decides to go PNP route, which is also not a walk in the park. It is strange to disagree that It does not make sense spending over 10 million to buy COS or on study, if you have already submitted your Canada PR application. It only makes sense for people that are in the pool but struggling to get invitation.

Canada study route also used to be very difficult but now a lot better.

Regarding people leaving UK work visa, it is not new. A lot of my friends in the UK left for Canada in 2017, while some chose to stay. Everyone will be alright laslas. I even think immigration is lot better than the years of Theresa May. People should do what is best for them

In your own opinion, the ones that moved, are they better off? Happier, more fulfilled etc?

Because a lot of people keep saying this japa from UK to Canada but what I’m seeing from friends and family and online…it’s not encouraging or at best the same.

Here’s the pros:
- bigger houses/road
- PR Route
- maybe higher salaries on average?
- etc.

Cons:
- housing crisis
- harder to get jobs
- very big and depressing/lonely country (can’t even visit your family on the other side because of flight cost)
- extreme cold

I just need to validate some of my ideas around this Canada japa 2.0

PS - if Canada is the ultimate destination, why waste millions to come to UK first? You don’t need MSc to qualify for PR route, there are alternatives like BCS diploma direct from Naija etc

She can travel. She needs to be with old passport showing the entry clearance name and marriage certificate when returning. At the border she can also explain that she would put in a replacement BRP application. There’s no harm. On the website it says you should try to do the replacement within 3 months of the change. I know someone who did it later at 4 or 5 months and cited financial difficulties.

Thank you. Can she apply for a replacement now? Or better to apply when she returns in a 2 months time? Since it’s for name change, rather than lost or stolen
