If you need link in getting tourist visa from Nigeria, send a pm before you apply.
Not free though. The consulars in Abj aren’t smiling.

I think you may have misread my post - please read it again. I stated: “…After your study, you can apply for a SA job role that falls under the critical skills list but, note that you may have to apply for such jobs from Nigeria if your study visa expires before you get a job. Don’t overstay to avoid a ban….”

Thanks.

Okay I didn’t understand before but now you’ve shed more life I totally understand
Thanks.

Not sure anyone can tell you with certainty if it is worth it or not because each person has a different SA immigration experience (some good, and some bad). It’s a risk only you can decide to make by yourself. But if you do decide to take the risk, do it with great awareness (and not ignorantly or naively) by researching about what you need to do to relocate to SA successfully and legitimately (whether temporarily or permanently).

With study visa, you can only stay for the period of your study. If you’re thinking of staying further after your study, one option is the work visa route. You can start by studying a course or getting a degree that will make you attractive for hire in SA. It’s better to equip yourself with a skill/qualification that falls under the SA official critical skills list, click this link to see the skills/qualifications that are critical: https://www.gov.za/sites/default/files/gcis_document/202208/47182gon2334.pdf

After your study, you can apply for a SA job role that falls under the critical skills list but, note that you may have to apply for such jobs from Nigeria if your study visa expires before you get a job. Don’t overstay to avoid a ban.

If you do get an SA critical skills job, you can then apply for a critical skills work visa (CSV). CSV is the easiest route to secure a permanent residency through employment if you have held the CSV for at least, 5 years after which you can apply for permanent residency (check VFS and DHA site online for more details).

This is only a theory of course and just one option, the reality may be different if you consider long visa processing time, possible visa application rejection, affordability of school fees, availability of jobs for a foreigner, SA employer’s willingness to hire a foreigner, general economy, etc. So please, don’t take this as a confirmation that going the study route is worth it! Do your research, get more info from SA immigrants, and know your strengths. All the best!

So if I want to apply for CSV, I have to come down to Nigeria to make such application at VFS Nigeria? Even when my study visa is yet to expire ?

I applied for student visa since 25th November 2022, my school is starting lectures on 6th February 2023 and I have not gotten any respond for my visa uptil now.
Please what should I do because I have to pay my school fees on or before 3rd February 2023 but I can't pay when I have not received my visa
We are in the same boat o, I applied too in early November on the 7th same visa category, Nothing too. By 1st of February if I don’t hear from them I’ll be planning to withdraw my passport because I don’t even have patience for any kind of delay at this point. They said they have deployed extra staff members to Abuja to sort out and prioritize those going for Business & Study. It’s still very slow as those who even applied for long term in October are yet to receive a decision. I won’t even blame them because Lagos embassy have refused to process visa so the whole visa pressure is at the Abuja embassy. Try and message your school international office and send your VFS receipt & Passport to them, they should help you in a way

Will I book for appointment if I wanted to apply for South Africa tourism sticker visa at VFS? sorry my last visa in 2021 I did walk-in. Is anyone know how many month South Africa stick visa comes out? I was told they didn’t collected int passport anymore.

If you know you have the patience to wait for about 6 months to get the sticker visa, you can apply for it. Yes they don’t take passport again. Sept/October applicants are still waiting for a decision with the purpose of travel defeated. So I’d advise you to apply through E-Vfs and apply like at least three weeks to your date of departure.

It’s better to present a personal bank account statement showing salary received from your registered company or business name (sole proprietor or partnership). Essentially, be paying yourself salary from your company on a monthly basis. Prepare an employer’s intro letter + payslip under your company letterhead and indicate how much salary your company pays to you monthly and your net pay.

Try to strategically separate your personal income from your business income. Get your clients to pay into your business account (or any other type of account if you don’t have a registered company/business name) and maintain a separate personal account for receiving salary payments.

I don’t always recommend presenting company account statement as evidence of an individual’s source of income. A company has an identity of its own and its revenue does not automatically translate to the owner’s income. Only submit your company’s bank statement (plus CAC docs, Tax clearance certificate, letter from bank confirming your company’s statement) if in visa your application, you are presenting your company as a sponsor of your trip OR you want to demonstrate that you have strong ties to Nigeria. For the purpose of sponsorship, your company’s account balance must be more than your travel budget (x2 at least, to be safe)

If you or your sponsor is submitting a company’s bank statement, the most important document to attach is a signed or stamped or even both reference letter stating that you or your sponsor is the sole signatory of the bank account of that said company. The company name must be there and tally with the name of the bank statement and the number of years you have been banking with them. It is so important. The bank balance must be large as well as the inflow and outflow almost times two of your travel budget.

That reference letter from the bank Carries weight a lot even if you don’t even have a company it is sometimes neccesary to add a reference letter from the bank, it has saved a lot from being denied based forged bank statement or unrealistic bank statement when the statement is actually legit.

Then you can attach CAC Docs and other Tax Clearance whatever which might not be neccesary at all. But you can put it if you wish, the more convincing your documents are the more you are likely to be issued the Visa.

Hi house, I actually applied for a year study Visa to carry out my doctoral research work and here is a delay, I can't just wrap my head over.

Seeing update of backlog in Pretoria, I am even more scared

Please, can I withdraw my application, and get all the documents again and file a fresh application which will be process here in Nigeria.

Well you can but it might take a bit long long, because people who applied in Oct/Nov are yet to receive a response from the consulate. The only solution now is to withdraw your application then reapply again. You might be lucky and get yours within or less than two months because it looks like they treat visa applications randomly.

Also if you’re not the one sponsoring your visa, is there a need to still attach your bank statement with the sponsor even if there are no sufficient funds in your own personal account ?
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Tryhard: 12:49pm On Jan 11, 2023
Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question to ask. For those that submitted the sponsors bank statement other than their own and a letter of sponsorship stating they are the sponsor for a type of SA visa here in nigeria. Does the Embassy call these sponsors for verification or not, because I have heard cases whereby they won’t even call and they will just put unverifiable sponsorship as a reason for refusal.

they treat applications randomly, check attached, that's 23rd which is a day after yours.

I swear even the physical submission at vfs is so random. Someone submitted days like very late November 25th or so, have been issued short term visa already and she’s is already in SA. People that applied before her like in October are still waiting. I don’t even know about long term visas like study and co.

Please if someone wants to invite me, what does the person need to submit? @tryhard, I will appreciate your WhatsApp number

Also, do I need to upload the resident permit page of the person inviting me?

1. The person has to write a strong convincing letter, why he/she is inviting you and the letter must contain his/her phone number, email address, house address which must be in the same city you are visiting, if your flight reservation says Lagos to CapeTown, The address must be Capetown and not any other place. If it’s in Joburg, your flight reservation say. Then the house address must be in joburg.
In the letter don’t put contradicting stuffs in it because they will definitely call your host and ask questions based on what is written in the letter and in your self-introduction letter as well.

2. The person must attach a certified copy of his passport biodata page and the visa legalizing him/her to stay in SA if not a citizen of RSA. If he/she is, the just a certified copy of the Biodata page of his/her SA ID

3. A very recent utility bills ( Electricity/Water) which shows the address written by the host in the letter. It must be clear & certified

4. This last one, I won’t say it is a must, but just to be on a safest side. Attach his 3 months recent bank statement (certified). Normally if the host says he’d cover all cost or he/she is your sponsor that is when you will attach the host bank statement with yours. But this days even if the host isn’t sponsoring and you still don’t attach the host bank statement you will get refused. So to be on the safest side just make sure you attach the bank statement with sufficient funds( Certified true copy)

NB: Make sure the documents are clear and not blurry. Make sure no parts of the document is cut out. Have a copy of these documents when you are submitting

This helped me as well, I have submitted this morning, I hope they attend to it before 16th, no provision for Travel histories beyond 6months.

Thanks Tryhard.

You’re welcome! Most likely if you don’t get any message about the state of your documents within 48-72hours , you’d most likely get the e-visa, because if they are problems with the document you’d be ask to Re-upload. Fingers crossed, follow up with VFS too.

Please how do i escalate the situation at hand?
I'm getting worried but i really don't know how to go about it since they don't reply emails.

1. Call or send an email to your school and tell them that your passport is still with the HC for almost a year, that till date you haven’t received a decision and it’s quite worrisome. The university is suppose to liaise with them concerning that.

2. Visit VFS and request you want to see the senior Manager and tell them how important it is. These people have direct contact to the HC. Let them tell you what went wrong.

Hello everyone,

Please i need suggestions about my study visa application. I submitted my application since march and I am yet to get any response. I contacted vfs some weeks ago and i got a response that my application is still being processed.
I just hope all is well.....
Thank you for your contributions.

Yours is almost a year!!! Have you escalated the matter? You need to! I know someone that got refused two time and the last time he got the study visa all this in 2022. It was the last one that took time like 3-4 months to get a decision and he was granted. The previous ones was within 2 months. Something might be wrong with yours

I thought the VFS e visa is decided at VFS by VFS . Does that mean if one has already applied for paper application but awaiting response, it isn’t advisable to go ahead with the VFS?

Remember two different platforms. Two pathways to visa. You can go ahead with the E-visa even if you’ve applied for the sticker, but if the E-visa clicks, will the HC be fast enough to deliver your passport ? Because I heard it takes minimum of two weeks

VFS don’t give visa, so it’s either Consulate or High Commission! Which ever you deem fit.
