LeonessAug: Hi everyone,

A sad report reaching me from California on a bad experience my friend had in MIHS is totally unfathomable. I thank God for her life and that of her baby. All in the name of saving cost, she was rushed to an emergency ward in California about 1week after birth and her bill at this moment is about $21,000 and more is still coming. I won't go into details but the situation is totally avoidable and was caused by negligence. The hospital will be sued! I'll not speak for them but can't help but wonder if they are overwhelmed by the number of patients or what? My experience wasn't bad but I just had to let my people here know what's happening and be prepared to face whatever they encounter in the cause of this birthing project. All the best to all.

Unfortunately, there were already posts before nairaland was taken down about MIHS below average service. I personally know 2 people that have been to MIHS, one had a very bad incident happen also due to negligence. My other friend just said "you get what you paid for" was very dissapointed (also mentioned racism as someone else also mentioned here). Someone had also posted here that state medical services are not as good as private which I can beleive. Although I believe a medical issues can happen to anyone at this point I am a bit more relieved that we are headed to El Paso. May your friend have a quick recovery and God have her in his favor.

Mrsfad2014: Pls i need urgent help. Can anyone suggest an apartment and hospital including Doctor for me in Houston. Also i was just wandering why people are going to El paso, pls i will appreciate all response on this.

We chose El Paso (doctoresparati.com) because of their rating. We were chosing between MIHS and Doctoresparati and saw the ratings mentioned on Healthgrades of both and comments here, plus everything was already set up by people who specialize in maternity tourism as somebody already mentioned (which is what we want). When we tried to contact MIHS and other hospitals the comunication was impossible and doctoresparati has always responded immediately. We will be there very soon... Please, can anybody already in El Paso tell me where there are more people? We are choosing between Ramada and Intown. How far is the Hospital and how far is it to buy groceries? Help.

Greetings,

Please help! I have chosen doctoresparati.com in El Paso but have a few questions? Has anybody booked the travel tickets using Expedia? Its mentioned on their website but i have never bought tickets so i am unsure.

My other questions is, I will be arriving on Aug 28, I have not decided where to stay. I have been told that Ramada and Intown are very close to the hospital but I also want to stay where I can meet more Nairalanders smiley Please, is there anybody there now or is there anybody going around September For the people that have been there, where is the closest place to the hospital to stay? How far is it, and how much is transportation to my prenatal??
