I am looking for people who are living in Nigeria and are not nigerian themselves. I am thinking to move and live there with my husband, that is why i would like to get in contact with expatriates that are already there! Anyone here?

grin u wonder why i want to take the car to enugu? of course I want to see the country. I know it will be hot, but hey, i want to see the real nigeria, not only the hotels, and I do have to experience the nigerian police controls :-) on the road, lol! So i know what everyone is talking about!

Of course I will want to know how to cook nigerian dishes ( i already know how to make okra and cowtail and other meat with tomato sauce, but i am sure there is more to it)

I have my vaccination, so that should be allright. for the gifts, i guess you are right, a nice swiss watch will do, maybe also a cell phone, i am sure he will like it!!!

how about the greetings? here in switzerland we kiss friends on the cheek three times, i heard in nigeria all you do is shake hands. is that true, no kisses on the cheek or hugs for my sisters- and brothers in law??

Thank you guys, ok I will get myself some rain shoes :-)
funny, that you are talking about the dressing - you know in congo you was almost "required" to wear nice clothes as someone that comes from europe, thats what people expect, so i still have some of those clothes with me (others i left there for the people). I hope that wont be a problem, but if I feel that the clothes r too shiny, ill just go and buy myself some wrappers :-)

i know i am so fortunate to be abel to travel these places, but to be honest, i might go and live there anyways, so i do want to adapt fully :-) thanks for the hint with the water, ill be very careful!

oh and another questions - -for my future father in law, i want to bring a nice present, i was thinking of a nice suit but i heard he never wears suit at all (apparantley he is rather old, which i think should not matter for that reason). So you guys have any suggestions

Woow - ok I have been to Congo (Kinshasa) before, and I know I have to expect heat and a lot of sun. But Nigria is my first time and yes - I am actually going to the east. I am flying to Lagos, then I will travel to Enugu by car for a wedding and after I will head to Aba and stay there for a while - so I think I will get to see quite a bit of the country :-)

I have heard about the mall and all those nice places in lagos (victoria island) but i am also very excited to see the land inside, maybe ill even be going to a village! how cool is that. although I havent been there, i do love the country alread :-)
Romance / Re: Toasting A Gurl, How Do U Hit The Real Point? by Udode(f): 5:30pm On Mar 10, 2009
@ a club:
Show your interest in a rather sublte way. Introduce yourself, ask her if she wants to drink. If she refuses, walk away and take a place where you can have eye contact, but dont forget to let her know where you will be sitting, in case she should need something, so that she can find you. Let time pass (and enjoy jourself). You will see that she will look out for you, and if she doesent come towards you, after 30 min or so you approach her again, insisting on a drink, and you will see, she will be very friendly and wanting to know who that very respectful (because you didnt stick to her like a gum from the beginning) and caring (you want her to drink something since it is very hot in the club) guy is!

And U WIN
Fashion / Hair! How To Detangle The Wig by Udode(f): 5:23pm On Mar 10, 2009
Hi Everyone

My friend has bought a hair-piece which she adds to her real hair and it loooks fantastic. But after half a year (not wearing it every day of course but from time to time) it doesn't look as good anymore.

The hair is not as nicely curly as it was in the beginning and there are a lot of knots everywhere.

Pls give an oyibo girl an advice . what does she have to do to detangle her hair?

Culture / Re: Tips On Dating A Nigerian Man by Udode(f): 12:21pm On Mar 06, 2009
I love my nigerian man, and oh yes i am all so white, as some of you are too! BUT:
- i enjoy hot food
- i enjoy cooking for him
- i enjoy when he is driving me around
- i love his family
- i love him for what he is (and being a nigerian - to me) best thing that could happen

So for once - it can work out - good luck (maybe you should open your mind a bit and try to adapt to the culture and find peace with yourself, )
