@ Karbaka and Madam L. You guys are extra ordinary Nigerians. After many years you still follow up this thread with so much passion. Honestly I do not have words to describe what I feel for your consistency, openness and passion for your business. @ Karbaka, can one still get the info you,ve been sending out over the years? If yes, kindly send me the info(s), my address is : ufofex@live.com I noticed there is association(s) enforcing some kind of price regime in some areas. Is one to take it that, you must be registered with the association in your location to operate a sachet/bottled water factory? It will be niece to hear from your wealth of experience |

Yes it is true you can withdrawl dollars or pounds with the card, I used a Diamond bank card when i went to london and it worked BUT beware, They will take 25 percent of what you load on it. I did it before i knew and i was mad. I dont know of other banks but i am talking of Diamond bank. Would you be kind enough to share your experience with us please? |

I wonder how some people find it convenient to undermine others and their good deeds. At what point would one appreciate the good gesture of this lady? Is it when she gives 100%? I'm not a fan of this woman, but I know a kind gesture when I see one. Omotola deserves some commendation, and here is mine: Omotola, weldone! |

Family / Re: Nigerian Men Spending Time Away From Their Families by ufofex(m): 9:35pm On Jun 03, 2008 |
Hmmmn, this one is hot. One cannot be comprehensive enough on this issue, lets try taking it in snippets. Ours is a culture of fast-eroding values. The Nigeria that I know, that I live in, is one in which culture has been relegated to the background. In the original African setting, family is everything. Today however, there is a difference, I would like to call it a 'generational shift' of ideas/values/fad, whatever. My Nigeria has become a place where unneccessary emphasis is placed on what one possesses, or what position one occupies. Respect and honour is according to the size of one's material possession or how high up his position is.So a lot of us try making more, achieving more, nudging higher. As someone who leaves his family for 2wks of every month, it is hard for me admitting to this problem. But, this is by no means exclusive to Nigeria. We are just a small part of a materialitc- driven world contributting it's share |

Autos / Re: This Is Getting Outrageous; Enough Is Enough! by ufofex(m): 12:08am On May 26, 2008 |
@ Poster Your thread is tension-soaked. I believe the reason why you've been getting some stiff critism, is because of your confrontational posture when you started the thread. I am not a car dealer, I guess the dealers in this forum sense you're trying to paint them 'black', and its only natural to get the kind of response you are getting. If you want to to sell a product, just advertise and sell, don't pull the competition down 'because you wanna to make sales. Respecting your statistics, from what source? Which statistics office did you get those infos. from? I don't know where you live, but the last I checked, half the cars on my street are SUV's, and those don't come cheap. 5 out of 10 cars in my workplace are brand new, of the remaining 5, 3 are SUV's and these don't come cheap either. Nigerians are willing to buy what they are willng to buy, just allow us make that decision for ourselves. Some of us may be able to buy 'million naira cars', some of us are be able to buy 'hundreds-of-thousands naira cars' some of us cannot afford a car at all. Just place your advert without been confrontational, and please make this forum a lively place for us all. You might want to dampen the tone of some of your lines: "Enough of all these adverts of car sales worth millions, " "my findings have shown that most cars sold on nairaland in the million range were mostly bought by outsiders, " "Look here bro,, " "i make a six figure as income monthly, " "i am repeating this for the umptenth time, " "Let the oga jenju and viper man deal with the big cars, i will take care of the small ones." "I still insist that you people should stop this VINophilic atitude, " |
Politics / Re: Al-Qaeda Plans To Bomb Nigeria? by ufofex(m): 7:29pm On May 25, 2008 |
@ Peeboy Al-queada, to bomb Nigeria? is it in the Niger Delta or Aso Villa and where are they targeting. Haba! Okiro, please tell Nigerian about the security situations in the Niger Delta and what your men are doing to stop the criminal activities going on there. I don't really know what Nigeria did to Al-quada, that make us a target of attack. Are they attacking poverty, corruption, hypocritical religion or non performing sector of the economy? , what is even there for them to attack? Security reports? from what source CIA, CID, SSS, we pray God to deliver us from the terrorist who bomb our hospitals, ruined the education sector, disconnect electric power from us, rigged elections and bombard us daily with distractive panels and false information. Very well said. |
Politics / Re: Yar’adua Approves Higher Electricity Tariff by ufofex(m): 10:28am On May 09, 2008 |
Sky Blue: Bros, this gas flaring thing is sickening. We don"t have a govt. with sincerity of purpose. This year 2008 was the deadline for gas flaring, behold they are about singing a new song. You talked of using our gas to generate power, that's a very lofty idea for our govt., when you compare it with the small challange of bottling this same gas for cooking. In 9ja, a 12.5 kg of cooking gas went to as high as NGN5000.oo |

When govt. pay workers that are non-existing, everybody scream 'ghost workers! ghost workers!!' What shall we scream now, that govt. will be paying for electricity that is non-existing Who will they be paying to? |
Politics / Re: Yar’adua Approves Higher Electricity Tariff by ufofex(m): 9:44am On May 09, 2008 |
Kobojunkie: Good talk man. But initial cost of installation is said to be very high. For me, it would have made better sense if Mr. President subsidises the cost of solar panel so Nigerians can individually generate power for themselves, not subsidising tariff of a commodity that is non-existing(electrcity in Nigeria). |
Politics / Re: Yar’adua Approves Higher Electricity Tariff by ufofex(m): 6:51pm On May 03, 2008 |
cola: Before the GSM revolution, we had NITEL. Govt. did not have to pay subsidies for us to recharge our GSM phones, govt. did not take part in the pricing, not even with the PTOs. Market forces/competition played their role, and those who could afford it got it. We didn't need govt. subsidies and we sure don't need it now. Even if electrcity is charged at #10 per unit, it will still be far less a price to pay when you compare it to howmuch we use to run our generators. Subsidies or no subsidies, govt. should create an enabling environment that will allow for true private sector/investors participation in the power sector, and leave the pricing for market forces to determine. |
Travel / Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by ufofex(m): 11:45am On Apr 29, 2008 |
@ poster: "Although, you might get paid a lot for working at six flags but, the government takes half your money for taxes. That's rough. Do Nigerians even pay taxes to the gov't?" The answer to your question is yes (sometimes multiple), especially does in the formal sector. Talking about taxes, in 9ja most of the taxes paid to govt. end up in private pockets, there is nothing to show for the taxes hard working and sincere Nigerians pay other than; no power terrible roads fallen standard of education fallen standard of health care no water, and the list goes on. My dear we Nigerians would love and wish that life in 9ja is better here than abroad, but the stack reality is that, for the average Nigerian living in Nigeria, life is an excruciating struggle. |

Politics / Re: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by ufofex(m): 11:45pm On Feb 19, 2008 |
Sabisabi: I can assure you these guys don't mean anything good for the avg. Nigerian. Remember when they introduced Fuel sales Tax of NGN1.50/litre some years ago? They said it was needed to fix our roads, my broda tell me where are the roads today? Believe it or not, if they increase the taiff on electricity now, nothing will change,as long as its thesame bunch of guys running the show. |
Politics / Re: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by ufofex(m): 9:59pm On Feb 19, 2008 |
They have started again! Anytime they want to tell us not to expect power(electricty) for as long as their tenure lasts, they will play thesame song of: it took 2 decades and more for the system to get this bad, so don't expect us to get it done overnight. What a crap!!! T'was thesame song the OBJ administration sang, and for eight years they kept remixing the song, giving us various versions. At the end they plunged funds into only God knows where, and here we are, worse off than eight years ago. Now Lukman want us to pay more. More for what? More for what we don't use? Is he trying to negotiate for an increase in the price of a commodity he doesn't have? Arrant nonsense!!!!! Or maybe he is telling us we will be paying more to run our generators as usual. |

Family / Re: Is A Jobless Man The Head Of His Family? by ufofex(m): 11:51pm On Feb 16, 2008 |
The man is, and will always be the head of the family. If he is jobless, then the word 'jobless' becomes an adjective qualifying his headship. If he is lazy, he becomes a lazy head,. If he is proud he becomes a proud head, and so on. I wish every woman has a husband with a job, that way there will be less friction in the family. |
