uglybug:left] Love or hate the Igbo for all you care, but dont distort history to lay credence to your bias. Azikiwe did not amend our constitution at any time. The constitutions have been tinkered by the military as it suits them over the years. I dont get how and when Azikiwe marginalised other tribes. The Mayor of Enugu when Azikiwe was the Premier was Malam Umaru Altine! The first coup was carried out by Nigerian soldiers of varying ethnicity. Nzeogwu wasnt the originator of the coup but he was the most daring and so was considered the leader. The ratio of Igbo soldiers did outnumber those from other ethnicities, but the fact remains that other ethnicities were part of the coup. The Unitary system was adopted by Aguiyi Ironsis regime . Ben Nwabueze had nothing to do with it. Adaka Boro was imprisoned by Ironsi, granted amnesty by Gowon and he died fighting for the Federal government during the civil war. Attributing his death to Ojukwu is callous and a misrepresentation of the facts. Ojukwu did not declare war on Nigeria, neither was he the first to launch an attack. Those two historical accolades belong to Gowon. Ojukwu declared independence and Gowon declared it an act of war. He (Gowon) went further to declare "a short surgical police action" to bring the separatists to heel. However, the "short surgical police action", became protracted due to the resistance of the Igbos and ultimately became a war. It is pertinent to note at this point that the Federal government brought the Igbos back into its fold, but to what purpose one may ask? Did they force the Igbos back to humiliate them or to work with them? This is the question they have been begging the Federal government to answer. From all indications, the Igbos have achieved not because of any favour from the Federal govt but through self help. There comes a time when one asks himself a question, what really do these people want ? What does Nigeria want from the Igbos? 7 Likes |
Almost everything they suffer today, they were the architect of it ... *Removal of referendum and seccession from 1956 constitution--- Nnamdi Azikwe *Marginalisation of others to employ only specific tribesmen to form dominance -- Nnamdi Azikwe *First Ethnic bloody coup and power take over - Nzeogwu and Ibo officers * Unitary system of one Nigeria --- Aguiyi Ironsi, Professor Ben Nwabueze * First person to kill a Seccesionist and freedom fighter of Niger Delta (Adaka Boro of 12 days revolution)-- Ojukwu *First person to declare a war and lunch an attack on Nigeria |

Obafemi Martins was a good striker for club and country, Simmy as at now has proven to be good for his club, his impact for country is yet to be felt. Hopefully he will do well there with time. From the sidelines, I read all of you all, a lot of the bickering and taunts are unnecessary. I hope it's just a phase you lot are going through, because if it sticks, it wont portend well for our unity not just in football but as a nation. There should be a rethink on how you respond to people especially faceless ones. Words shouldn't be vile, you guys should attempt to be civil and learn to walk away from issues that arent relevant. 8 Likes 1 Share |

edi287:He made too many mistakes just as his coach said. Missed two goals and almost missed the one he scored. The shot was going in the keepers direction till it took a deflection and sent the keeper the wrong way. 1 Like |

Nairalanders especially those in the diaspora should turn down the glaring tribal connotations on every comment and issue raised. Whatever that is bad in yourobaland is equally bad in igboland and likewise in hausaland. The hatred that is shown here isn't exactly like that on ground. That said,Sanusi shouldn't have done what he did if it is true then he should be punished. |
Romance / Re: Brothers, What Do You Mean By A "natural" Woman by uglybug: 12:38pm On Nov 09, 2011 |
A natural woman is a woman who doesn't fake her accent, mannerism, and all that for the sake of God knows what. Such women have grace. A natural woman isn't ashamed of learning new things. She can acquire new taste without being fake. On the other hand, a sophisticated woman has grace and poise. A natural woman can ascend to sophistication without being fake, its all in accepting new values without altering your personality. How many women know how to set a table, how many of them know that there is no "style" for holding a fork, rather you hold one as it suits you to eat. How many women know how to make a bed? Basic etiquette unfortunately isn't taught in many homes here , but with humility one can pick up these values and become sophisticated. I want a woman who is natural and intelligent,if she comes in a sophisticated package, I will be delighted. |
