Travel / Re: I Am A U.S. Consular Officer: Ask Me Your Visa Questions. by uist: 4:13pm On Aug 26, 2013
Hello VO, Today we hard our interview, but it wasn't successful. i was denied visa me and my wife.

The VO ask my wife if she has travel before and my wife told him yes, and the VO ask where she visited in New Zealand, and my wife couldn't answer, and my wife failed to answer so many question, which gave the VO negative though about what we fill on the application form, and doubts us.

My question is, how would one know if he/she has been barred for US VISA? especially when the VO notice that you lied during the interview? Please i need advice because the VO NEW my wife LIED during the interview, does that mean me and my wife has been barred for US visa?

Could yoo please send us the link to the other visa thread
suxes2005: Greetings to y'all.

I'll be visiting this thread more unlike before.

As no one is an island of knowledge when it comes to visa issue,
I've experienced it and know how it feels to be refused visa.

Please and please, if you were denied based on false documents, don't
bother to apply again.

I'm currently working on that information and once there is solution (which there will be)
I will get back at you guys here.

There is another thread by one visa officer, kindly visit that thread and learn one or two things
regardless of your visa category.

Lastly, you can make it anywhere and not in the USofA alone.

Peace

Those nationals travels a lot, if they can stay in their country for a year without visiting embassy, you will see d break through grin grin visa go turn garri grin grin grin
AjanleKoko:

I have a question. Why do nationals of countries like Nigeria, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc., require 'God's favour' before they can get a visa to Western nations?
Does God submit a list at the embassy of 'favoured' candidates? undecided

Many people got their visa without those requirements listed here. My friend got his USA J1 visa, it was his first time application without travel history, when the CO called his name to come over to cubicle 3, he started shiveriny, the CO ask him why he's going for summer work in US, & he told the CO i am going for hotel management grin cheesy, the CO officer started laughing, and he corrected him, and d CO ask him to pick his visa the next day smiley. there were many student who also apply for d same J1 visa, with travel history, and they answered their question correctly, and they got refused. what are we talking about. His God favor and luck.
tzetzefly:

Quite easy to convince the CO of your ties to your country:

1. Your DS-160 speaks volume of your person so thats where you need to inform your interviewer first hand about who you are before he/she meets with you.

If you dont put the facts straight on that form, your result is already known before your interview.

They are trained in basic and advanced psychology, so they can tell or read your body language from afar.

2. Are you married?

Yes i am, is not proof enough. Where is that ring on your left finger to show you're married. Alternatively where is the proof of members' of your family during the interview in case you're to travel as a family.

3. Do you have kids?

Based on the second question if the CO is not convinced about it, he feels indifferent about the Kid aspect. Except you're a single parent.

4. Do you work?

Your DS- 160 will tell him your kind of work and if it looks convincing, your ID card will be asked for or your appearance will speak for you.

5. Your monthly income?

Answers to question four enables the CO to go further in demanding for either your payslips or bank statements.....

FrontPageLawyer: We keep talking about ties, but how do you convince a CO you have ties in Nigeria when he/she doesn't even care about the documents you carrying?

You married? Yes....no document checked

You have kids? Yes....no document checked.

You work? Yes....no document checked.

How much is your monthly income? 800k.....no document checked.

Why are you not traveling with the family? Wife will be busy at work during summer.....sorry you're not qualify for a visa at this time.

That was during my interview.

How can they trace his travel history when they are not the country that issue him the visa, no entering & exit stamp. USA do not work with UAE neither SA i guess it will be difficult for them to trace his travel history. I am just saying i really have no clue. But i doubt if the travel is history can be trace. they dont use the same Database with SA & UAE, neither the same central system.

Thank you very much for your answer, the first time i applied for US visa at the US embassy in Serbia 2012, i went with all my school documents and proof of financial means of subsistence, including Serbia Government award Certificate of scholarship, all my documents was correct and non of them was check my CO. last year when i applied i have been to Sweden and China. i have three visas on my passport schenegen visa and china visa and Serbian visa,

My friend here who also applied last year for the same US visa, he has been to US on B1 visa before, and also has been to other schengen countries and China Qatar UK, he was also denied US visa in US embassy in Serbia, and the consular officer told him to apply from his country Ghana that he doesn't have strong ties here in Serbia. They don't issue African student visa here and i don't know why?

I was advice by a colleague to apply from Nigeria, and when i came across this thread "nairaland" i think this is the best place to seek advice concerning this issue. and i also want to ask if traveling experience to other countries can be an advantage in visa application in Nigeria?
