jennykadry: Ina a hospital, they could have only maybe 5 physiotherapist working there but in a hospital there could have over 100 nursing staff working and still advertising for more. If you want to get a job quick, then go for whats in demand. A nurse I guess can get a job here anyday anytime without stress, a physiotherapist can but how many health facilities can employ a lot of physio's? Physio's are on demand don't get me wrong but I just don't think the government goes crazy for them as they do with doctors and nurses jennykadry: AS a PR you have no work limits so yes you can work and study at the same time. No big deal Thanks a lot. The advice is much appreciated! |

jennykadry: It is a lot cheaper studying as a permanent resident than as international student. It costs less than 10000AUD/year in many schools to study medicine as a permanent resident which to me is very cheap. Compared to an international student that pays 55000AUD per year. Curtin University perth charged over 10000 AUD for nursing for international student per semester but permanent residence pay just over 3,000 per semester with a lot of scholarships and icnentives for those that want to study nursing- I know about the scholarship because I have friends who keep me up to date. PR...Glad you brought up nursing. I was looking at retraining for something in the health sector, but I don't know if my system quite agrees with nursing (don't quite think I'd survive it...lol). How is Physiotherapy? Are they in big demand? Also while in school, is it possible to work on the side so as to stay afloat (pay bills and what not) Thanks again. |

jennykadry: Thank you for replying. I will generally be looking for something in the office administration/logistics field. I will also be open to retraining in a field that might give me better opportunities. Is it very expensive to go back to school as a Permanent resident? Are there government programs and loans to help cover educational expenses? Thanks once again... |

Hello everyone, I am very interested in migrating to Perth. Could y'all please tell me what the job opportunities are like in Perth? I have been researching the issue on the internet, but I keep getting mixed opinons; some say it is terribly hard to get a job in Perth, while others say it's not. Please help, as it would help me in making my decision. Thanks... |

ahamdiheme: Thanks a lot for the tips. Very helpful. The problem is that I can't find lots of information on the school websites about the faculty members; their projects, areas of expertise etc, or maybe I am looking the wrong way. I am interested in the following schools: 1. Bahçeşehir University 2. Fatih University 3. Işık University 4. Istanbul Aydın University 5. Yeditepe University 6. Izmir University of Economics Do you know anything about these schools? Please do share whatever information you may have on them. I don't intend to apply to all of them, I would like to apply to the ones that would be more inclined to waive the GRE/GMAT requirement. If you could please help me find out about that, I would be very grateful. Also maybe if you look at the Institute of Social Sciences section of their websites, you could give me some advice on how to find out about the faculty members and their work. I do not have any issue contacting the professors once I am able to (don't mind putting in the work). Thanks a lot for all your help. Really appreciate it. |

ahamdiheme: Hey Ahamdiheme, Hope you are doing great. I am currently researching universities that I can apply to like we discussed, but I am constantly coming up on the GMAT/GRE requirement on their websites. Did you have to deal with that? I am wondering if it is a requirement that can be waived based on a great CGPA, or was it different for you because you are in the Engineering department? (I am looking to apply for a doctorate in business). If it can be waived, could you please tell me how to go about getting it waived by the schools. Thank you very much. |

ahamdiheme: Thank you so much. Will get on it. |

ahamdiheme: Thanks a lot. And lol @ long sermon; it really helped, didn't mind it at all. So basically, the TUBITK covers the upkeep, while one can try to get tuition waivers via research assistant positions and the like? |

ahamdiheme: Oh really? I was of the impression that one had to have the GRE/GMAT to get into the postgraduate programs. Please how would I go about applying without the GRE/GMAT? Would it be better to visit the schools in person? Also how do I go about applying for the funded programs. Based on the website link you posted, they open up applications about twice a year; one in february precisely. Do you think they would open it up next year again? Also would you happen to know if they have two intakes a year or just one in September for the PhD progam? Thanks for your assistance. |

Hey Joaquin, Could you please let me know about the Turkish Language training. How many days a week do you have to be in school and for how many hours? Also can you take a week or two off during the program or is attendance very strict? Thank you very much. |

I really don't know about the changing university part because the contract you will be made to sign explicitly forbids you from requesting for a department or university change....something to consider. |

joaquin64: @veneka. I just called the university and spoke to their Doctoral program for natural and applied sciences (took a wild guess you are of this field) and confirmed that it is 100% taught in English. Now, I would personally like you to go further and call one of the numbers on their websites to confirm this for yourself as well only problem is that they may find it difficult replying you in English but would transfer you to their international student office. I have gone as far as this to get the information directly from the horses mouth. But feel free to still post the course you are doing and visit their website in English, get a phone number from one of their staffs in your department and feel free to post it here and I would call and ask them. Cheers. Thanks a lot. You went to a lot of trouble on my behalf, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I am not in that department, I was selected for a PhD in Business Administration. Yea, I did try calling, and I could not get past the Turkish Language barrier as no one I got on the phone spoke more than two words of English. Here is a link to the departmental site: http://sbe.gantep.edu.tr/ (it is in Turkish). I also found this number (342) 317-1895 for a Doç.Dr. Hilmi Bayraktar (Müdür), I called that number as well but the person that answered spoke no English. So if you could please help me find out, I'd be in your debt for real. Thank you once again. |

I think this scholarship scheme is very disorganized. I was expressly asked if I speak Turkish in the interview and I said no, then how in the world is it that I was placed in a Turkish program and not an English program (considering they do have those). I get that I am supposed to learn Turkish for a year, but trust me there is no way I can learn enough Turkish to run a full PhD program in it. And they keep saying that it is impossible to change schools. @ Joaquin, I understand what you are saying about the possibility of changing when we get there, but you have to admit that it is a gamble. If after we finish the Turkish language learning, they keep insisting that folk like me go on to study in Turkish programs, we might be forced to leave, making it a wasted year. I am quite disappointed really. 1 Like |

Hello Joaquin, Please I need your assistance urgently. Based on my research, I find that the major that I have been assigned to might not be taught in English, please can you help me confirm that? |

chuquiz: I am Nigerian. @ Joaquin, please I would like to get some more information about Gaziantep. I'd like to know general prices for rent in that area, cos like you rightfully mentioned, I doubt I'd want to stay in the dorms. Also I am having a hard time getting comprehensive information from the school website, how do I find the contact information for their international student department? Thanks again for your assistance. |

joaquin64: That is one of the best universities here and I have visited Gaziantep twice. It is a great city. Infact, the fourth most popular city in Turkey after Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. I have lots of friends there in that university. It is perfectly english also so you have no issues. It is a major economic hub for Turkey, very modern and has lots of ancient history and sites as well making it a big tourist destination. Its proximity to Syria could never be an issue to you. Thank you very much. |

Hello Joaquin, I got selected for a phd program at the uni in Gaziantep. Please what can you tell me about the school and the province. I am worried about its close proximity to Syria. I really wanted to go to Ankara or Izmir...Don't know how to feel about this. 1 Like |

mevisbleek: @veneka phd in what? I am looking at Phd in management sciences or communications...I hear all these stories about phd holders ending up in menial jobs after graduation...sorta scary. I wouldn't even mind moving to where the jobs are at, if there are jobs. |

Hello Mevisbleek, Please what about people who are going for Phd programs? What advice do you have for them? Which provinces are better? And what are the job prospects for them like after graduation? Thank you very much. |
