Apart for my monthly BIS subscription, i recently stopped loading my airtel because of the incredible rate from etisalat. I love the etisalat die> With this new one from airtel, the line go resume hin credit chopping be dat though i dont plan dumping etisalat anytime soon.

The airtel and eti rates are not miracles but just too too wonderful. The real miracle is how some people still stick with MTN.

[on a playful not, am having some cognitive dissonance as to how an indian-owned firm could be this liberal, hope no be staff salary go suffer am grin ]
just kidding

Hey, but isn't Etisalat's Easy life costlier? N15/min versus Airtel N12/min (post the first call/daily rental?).

Or are you talking of some other plan?

People, any other interesting price plans by anyone in the market?

Cheers,
Vivek

I just Migrated and my 100 bucks was deducted. My first call of 58 seconds about #34 Naira was deducted.I later call an mtn line for 1 Min 24 secs that is 84 secs and #16.80k was deducted.
My conclusin is that Airtel hv done their calculation very well.First call daily 60k/likewise monthly deduction of 100 bucks.Or is it One time deduction?Am not sure of that, but my 100 bucks was deducted upon migratn Unlike Glo infinito

@honsule -> this is interesting; if your first call is at 60k/s. Then you might as well cut your first call in 1sec and then make your real call later.
This way, you would incur a charge of just 60k for the first second and then pay 20k/sec for any calls that you make later in the day.

PS: Correct me if I'm wrong

Eemah:

It is time for the investment of Nigerians in the telecomms indutry to start yielding dividends after all Nigerians have paid as much as 50 naira/min to their progenitors in the past. There is no need for this hulabaloo.
Indeed, for customers, this is long overdue. I hope that it goes as low as N2-3/min (in India it's N2/min).

Can you please confirm if the tariff N9/min is indeed true. And, in case you have details, can you please post it here?

Thanks,
Vivek

Are any of you using Airtel? Can you please confirm the following?
> As a current user, do you get to call other Airtel users at N9/min? Additionally, what's the current rate that you pay?
> Is there any monthly fee that you need to pay for this?
> Have you been called by the company informing you of this?

Please keep me posted on this!

Thanks,
Vivek

Vivek are you indian?

Yes I am. By any chance are you aware of the N9/min tariff launched by Airtel?
I found out through this news link

Since three days ago,. the just keep calling me with 547, the moment I pick it, they will start saying their automated record stuff in indian intonation, what I could hear alone is record your name,  who has received the same call?
Hi Emmyk,

Are you getting this call as an Airtel subscriber or what?
I'm very curious to understand this move: In India, we get such automated recorded calls informing us of festive offerings by Airtel and other competitors.

Cheers,
Vivek

Hmmm, interesting. . .only hope they can replicate the above rates in Naija, since, as I stated earlier, most of these multinational Gsm coys always have an alibi to justify their obscenely high rates here compared with the other countries in which they operate. (eg infrastructural challenges, etc)

For instance, Zain up until the takeover, was charging N1000/ month for a measly 100MB EDGE, while 1G went for N5000/month. Compared with your N330/moth for 2G. . . you can see the colossal difference.  Cry

I do hope that data rates reduce for you guys. I'm sure that Airtel's entry will result in all the players (including MTN) offering better plans at lower rates.

Hi Guys,

Any comments on Zain's re-branding to Airtel? Cool song eh? But I don't like the new logo so much.
Have you seen any interesting promo packs launched there?

If I may ask, what are the current rates?

Additionally, I guess MTN offers 3G while Airtel is yet to launch it, right?

Interesting comments guys!

Airtel is a leader in the Indian market and here, regular prepaid plans (0 rental) offer you call rates of 3.3kobo/sec or 1.6Naira/min.
Please post your updates/comments on the re-branding exercise of Zain/Airtel.

Additionally, wireless internet in India is priced at ~330Naira/month (2GB for GPRS - low speed net); 3G rates are still high ~ 2,500Naira/month (2GB - but blazing speed). Wired internet is quite cheap - unlimited internet at 512kbps @ 1,500Naira/month (DSL)

How're the phone/internet usage rates at your end?
Cheers!
