The gentleman should be rallied around and encouraged, someone has to put an end to all this nonsense once and for all! eMpTyN has made so much in Nigeria with little consideration for duely rewarding its clentels that made the huge profits possible. Instead of rewards they keep on playing on our emotions and intelligence.
To the chap involved i suggest he tries to hook up with the Consumer Rights Council of Nigeria , theyve been making a lot of noise on TV about protecting the rights of the Nigerian consumer, lets give them this task to see what stuff they are really made of

I posted a thread seeking help on Short Messaging Code Services info; as i need to integrate it with a current web project am handling. Got one response from Omni poten, and after my response and reappeal for any other contribution the thread disappeared. Just curious to find out what ever happened (this was within a spate of 4 days or so!).
Anyway i finally got of my butt and did a google search with a local set and abracadabra, i got more than i needed!

Webmasters / How Do U Get Cusomised Sms Code With Gsm Operators For My App? by webfx(m): 8:23pm On Apr 25, 2010
Hi house, i need to implement a mobile subscrition service tied to a web app; i need info on the operators that provide sms value added services for the telcos in nigeria, i mean the one u send 3350 for a service and the user gets charged N50 instead of the regular N10. I'd like to have an idea of what there service charges are, i heard mtech seems to be the lead company in this field.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Computers / Re: Download Accelerator by webfx(m): 12:00pm On Apr 25, 2010
Download accelerator is a well known software. What it does is instead of downloading your download via one connection to the server its sets up multiple connections instead to speed up the download. so it does not actually adjust just internet speed , it just multi task with the speed. Another advantage is it allows you to stop a downlaod and continue at a later time (provided the server its downloading from supports this function), i know how many time internet explorer has giving me nightmares when downloading large files and the link goes off and i have to start all over again! hope that helps

Computers / Re: Slow Browsing: End For Starcomms? by webfx(m): 11:27am On Apr 25, 2010
@webgenius, the truth is ur EVDO coverage is really quite poor, i actually have both a izap evdo device and a 1x device and ive noticed the speed is almost the same, when i checked there coverage on there flyers apparantely there was no izap coverage in my area and there selling the device in that area! Any way i the plan i subscribe to is the same cost for izap & evdo so am not really mad yet, cause even the ix speed allows me to download all my heart desire!
Computers / Re: Inverters: How To Get The Best Out Of Them by webfx(m): 11:20am On Apr 25, 2010
Thanxs @oduz

SINEWAVE VS MODIFIED SINEWAVE
Both Sinewave and Modified Sinewave refer to the type of Alternating Current (NEPA light!)output that the inverter generates. Here the similarities end.
The Sinewave Inverter produces an almost exact replica of your regular Alternating current (which is a sinewave) which you get from the pubilic Utility(in this case NEPA) or from your generating set. The benefits of a sinewave inverter is that users will have no issues with the kind of equipment they use on them. All your regular household equipment you use with NEPA will work just fine on the sinewave inverter with no side effects or problems.

MODIFIED SINEWAVE on the other hand is an adapted Alternating Current which rather than having the xteristic smooth slope of a sinewave is more like a rectangular pulse. Modified sinewave inverters are way cheaper becuase they do not contain the required circuitry to filter and smooth the output wave form to the required shape. With modified sinewave some equipment may not work , or may overheat and get damaged. The main curlpits are usually inductive loads, Motors, High definition equipment e.t.c.

So the real question is for the prospective user which of these do i buy? The Expensive Sinvewave Inverter or the cheap/affordable Modified Sinewave?
Well it actually depends on the things you want to power of the inverter. Generally you wont notice any difference except you plan on powering any of the following items:
-Flourscent tubes (They will hum, flicker , and overheat! By the way replace all florescent tube with energy bulbs instantly! normal florsecnt tubes are not energy efficient! )
-High definition tvs (HDTV)
-Electric motors
-Medical equipment
-High definition Media players

if your s is just the regular household, with a crt tv, light bulbs, dstv decoder, fans the modified sinewave is an option if you decide to cut cost. So whats the average price difference.
An 800 watt modified Sinewave : N18,000:
An 800 watt pure Sinewave : N34,000

Stay tuned more to come!

Computers / Inverters: How To Get The Best Out Of Them by webfx(m): 8:58pm On Apr 23, 2010
We currently sell & install a range of inverter products and deep cycle batteries and accessories that are affordable  and reliable (come with no story guranty).
However during a lot of our sales engagement we've encountered a lot of negative impressions about this technology which in our view is really due to mis-information on the part of get rich quick marketers; mis-understanding the proper effective use of an inverter by the user; shody installation by the technician.
so i've started this thread to do the following:

-answer any question intending users may have
-help identify and if possible render free advice to solve problems current users may have with their inverters
-last to show case our current affordable offers ! grin

so feel free to join the thread if any of the above applies to you

SO WHAT IS AN INVERTER ABOUT?,

An inverter is basically a storage system for electricity. It stores up electrical charge in a battery system which the user can make use of any time during an outage from the Public Utility Grid. It can be compared to your water storage system at home. You pump water from your borehole/well into the storage tank once full the water from the storage tank supplies the house with water till the tank is empty which then requires another refill by using the waterpump again.

In the case of your inverter system, your batteries are the storage tank, while the inverter is your pump for storing the water and making use of it at the same time. Thats the simple analogy. so lets get a bit techy!

Some of the important metrics to note when choosing an inverter are the following:
1. Waveforms: Sine wave or Modified Sine Wave
2. Load Rating capacity: 1kva, 2kva e.t.c
3. DC Input Voltage: 12v, 24v 36v, 48v
4. Charging Current rating
5. Available circuit protection: Overvoltage, undervoltage, low battery disconnect, over-charge protection, wrong polarity protection e.t.c

i'll explain each of these starting tommorow. Stay tuned!

I believe generation has improved dramatically from the nigthmare of barely 800mw last year to a peak of 3600MW sometime last month. However there are still a lot of kinks to be ironed out in the distribution section; that i suppose is why the impact is not the same all around yet.
So ole boy Joe, i chip in my vote of thanks!

NA WA O! In fairness to them they've been outstanding! never really down (just occasionally) and the outage usually doesnt last for mor than an hour. I hope they havent actually joined the bandwagon "Mass Marketing and No Service delivery" cause i cant just imagine who to try next!
