Nigerian journalist and blogger, Kemi Olunloyo and a Port Harcourt-based publisher, Samuel Walson have been sent to prison after hearing on their bail application was stalled on Thursday.
It was gathered that the absence Magistrate Alatuwo Fubara of the Magistrates’ Court in Port Harcourt who was expected to preside over the matter, forced them to stay back in prison custody.
According to Punch, Olunloyo and Walson were arrested for purportedly publishing materials believed to have defamed a frontline cleric, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, of the Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt.
The magistrate was said to have been unable to come to the court due to ill health.
The duo’s lawyers and counsel for Salvation Ministries were present at court. Others at the court were journalists and bloggers, who came to cover the hearing and also show solidarity to their colleagues.
Olunloyo, who was arrested in Ibadan and Walson, apprehended in Port Harcourt, were remanded at the Port Harcourt Prison.

Nigeria’s economy has climbed out of recession, according to World Economics.
World Economics is an organisation dedicated to producing financial analysis, insight and data relating to questions of key importance to the world economy.
Information on its website reads;
“March Sales Managers’ Index (SMI) data suggests that the Nigerian economy is starting to grow out of the recession which saw 10 months of consecutive contraction. The Market Growth Index grew to 53.5 in March as the monthly Sales Growth Index edged up to 51.3, its highest value since March 2016.
It is too early to speculate if the recovery is built on solid fundamentals for a sustained recovery but the changes reflected are not insubstantial. Price inflation for March, which is tracked by the Prices Charged Index, remained high at 61.3 – and indicative that very high levels of inflation continue.
Overall, conditions in Nigeria have improved over the past month and managers are expressing optimism that the economy will continue to grow”.

Yes, there has been a long delay than usual in the commencement of JAMB registration 2017 online for UTME. A lot of intending applicants are already frustrated by the long wait and would like to know when they can go online to register. Now the information you want is here.

The JAMB Fee of 5,500 Naira includes Registration fees, Reading text and all other Document (Syllabus and Brochure).
So, now you know how much the scratch card for JAMB registration is (e-PIN), and how much the online registration costs. In addition, candidates are expected to purchase the textbooks, titled “In Dependence” by Sarah Ladipo Manyika for UTME and “The Last Days at Forcados High School” by A.H. This 34-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ghana for allegedly killing a Nigerian commercial s*x worker, who he claimed stole his money after he had s*x with her.

Isaac Sackey is said to have handed himself over to the police after stabbing the Nigerian lady two times in the stomach and thigh.

The incident happened on Wednesday, March 8th.



He is said to have approached the woman, identified only as Tina, a Nigerian, for s*x at a drinking spot at Baatsona, near the Spintex Road, in Accra, at about 8pm after having some drinks with his male friends.

After drinking some bottles of liquor, the two are said to have agreed on a fee for the service and they went off to Sackey’s house where they spent the night.

Confirming the incident, the Accra Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge told the Daily Graphic that according to Sackey, after several bouts of s*xual inter-course with the lady, he went to the washroom to freshen up at about 2am.

When he returned, he saw the woman going through his belongings in the bedroom and realised that GH¢120 cash had been stolen. Mrs Tenge said Sackey told the police that he immediately accused the woman of stealing the money but she denied it.

“In the heat of an ensuing argument, the woman is said to have pulled a knife from her bag and attempted to stab Sackey,” she said.

However, according to Mrs Tenge, Sackey told the police that a scuffle ensued and in the course of the struggle he overpowered the woman and the knife mistakenly injured her in the stomach.

She said Sackey locked his room and then went to the Psychiatric Hospital to report the issue where he was directed by the hospital authorities to report himself to the police.

After receiving the news, Mrs Tenge said police officers went to the Manet Gardens Apartment of Sackey where the body of the victim was found lying in a pool of blood.

A careful assessment of the body by the police, she said, revealed that the victim had a knife wound in the stomach and on the thigh, indicating that she had been stabbed twice.



The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue. The deceased Nigerian lady is yet to be identified by the family since the suspect claimed it was the first time they had met at the drinking spot.

It truly makes no sense why so many girls dress in such a provocative and inappropriate manner on Nigerian university campuses. So many of these campus babes wear dresses/outfits, heels and accessories that are normally worn when going to clubs and lounges.
So many of them have been dressing in this manner for such a long period of time and have gotten others to thinking it’s the norm.
5. Female competition

No be educational institution again? If you want to compete, it should be with grades, not other females! By the time you combine all the points I’ve listed above, a university campus turns into a pure joke. Nigerian campus babes think university is about who has the flashiest gadgets, richest boyfriends and most money to throw around. What a shame. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered a sum of N900, 000 (nine hundred thousand naira) mistakenly deposited in an account of a customer in a new generation bank.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Director of Publicity in the commission, Wilson Uwajaren,



According to Uwajaren, the customer – Aliyu Usman Tilde, who owned the account having done no business with anybody to warrant such credit in his account, reported the suspicious lodgement to the Gombe zonal office of the EFCC.

“The EFCC through discrete investigation discovered that the money belongs to a law firm that was engaged by the Federal Ministry of Justice in a case that involved a former staff of Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.

While commending the patriotism of Tilde, the EFCC spokesman urged the public to emulate such honest attitude by reporting suspicious lodgement transaction to relevant authorities.

The Buhari administration has unfolded plans to hire additional 350,000 graduates under the N-Power Volunteer Corps. This will bring the engaged graduates to 550,000.
According to the Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to the President, Mr. Laolu Akande, President Buhari has requested appropriation of N157.75B in the 2017 budget estimates for the N-Power scheme.
The N-Power is just one of the many SIPs that has so far drawn the interest and praise of Nigerians across board, Akande observed adding that a lot more will come, especially this year, urging Nigerians to actively come out and take advantage of the different schemes this year.
Out of the N-Power 2017 budget ”350,000 unemployed graduates more would be hired and trained, alongside 50,000 non-graduates youths to be engaged as artisans and in other creative ventures,” Akande disclosed in his weekly update on the Social Investment Programmes on Sunday.
Under the N157.75B also, N4.5B has been earmarked for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM program to support young Nigerians in building skills in those disciplines.
Akande who welcomed the great public enthusiasm the programmes have so far generated, noted that the SIP budget proposals for 2017 are currently being discussed this week at the National Assembly, and urged Nigerians to expect more this year especially in the area of implementation as virtually all of the SIPs are now undergoing different stages of implementation.

“While we were able to engage 200,000 unemployed graduates last year, we will do 350,000 more this year,” he assured, adding that some of the teething problems are giving way to lessons that would smoothen implementation under the 2017 budget.
Equally, under the 2017 budget proposals now before the National Assembly, Akande disclosed that about N75B has been allocated for the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme, which will provide one hot meal a day to 5 million primary school pupils. He explained again, that this would certainly be an improvement on how far the feeding programme has been implemented so far under the 2016 budget which has so far attained the feeding of about one million pupils.
The Spokesperson to the Acting President also stated that under the 2017 budget a sum of N112.2B has been allocated for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme aimed at providing interest-free loans to up to 1.2million market men and women, traders, artisans, youths and farmers.
Under the GEEP, he explained that beneficiaries will receive between N10,000 and N100,000 loans with a one-time 5% administrative fee. Already under the

The Federal Government has revealed it will employ at least 350,000 more graduates under the N-power volunteer corps scheme
The Buhari administration has unfolded plans to hire additional 350,000 graduates under the N-Power Volunteer Corps. This will bring the engaged graduates to 550,000.
