The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have announced that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold in May 2017.





This was made known by the JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, through the Board’s Twitter handle @jambhq
According to him, actual dates will be announced soon. He also advised candidates to beware of false dates and fraudsters.
“2017 UTME is scheduled to hold in May 2017. Actual dates will be announced soon. Beware of false dates and fraudsters,” he said.
Meanwhile, JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has explained why an unusual delay has preceded the sales of application forms.
He said the ongoing switch-over in the major thrust of the sale of form which is the scratch card to direct payment into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) was responsible for the delay.
Oloyede said: “We are changing the major trust of the sale which is the scratch card. Candidates used to buy scratch cards to access the forms online and that has been abused thoroughly.
“What we want to do is for students to pay directly to government coffers and we are working out the process of doing so to avoid the type of abuse that it has been subjected to. So, we want to sell directly and to make sure that candidates pay into TSA account.”

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said the quest by the country to achieve energy security can no longer be left for the Federal Government to address alone, just as he revealed plans by the State to attain 24-hour power supply through generation of 3,000 megawatts of electricity by 2022.



Speaking at Lagos House in Ikeja after receiving the report of the Embedded Power Technical Committee constituted by the State Government with representatives from the public and private sector, Governor Ambode said while the Federal Government continues in its efforts to resolve the power crisis, the sustainable solution going forward would be the pulling together of commitment and resources of all stakeholders in the power value chain.

While explaining the rationale behind the embedded power initiative of the State Government, Governor Ambode said the major bane of the power situation in the country has always been with transmission, adding that the initiative was designed to permanently resolve power crisis in the State and by extension in the country.

He said: “The reason why we embarked on this initiative is that we believe strongly that if the power problem is solved in Lagos, it is technically solved in the whole of the country and so because Lagos has more or less tested a solution that works, we can scale this up and also address it on a national scale.

“The problem of power in Nigeria is the problem of transmission and that is the truth. Yes, we have generating companies and we have distributing companies and they say power is in the hands of the private sector but we know technically that that is not totally true.

“We also know that transmission is hundred per cent owned by government but we have tested here in Lagos and we have been able to provide 48 kilowatts of power without transmitting it which means that we generate and then distribute.

“So, if that works for 48 kilowatts, can we put Lagos into clusters and actually use embedded power initiative to drive the business of Lagos? That is what this initiative is all about and I want to thank all the stakeholders for submitting their business template into what government sees as the right step to take so that we can join hands together to say in the next two to five years, we can actually power Lagos and then grow our GDP.”

Governor Ambode said the target of the State Government is to generate up to 3,000MW of power through accelerated deployment of various embedded power plants in strategic locations in the State within three to five years.

Out of the 3000MW, the Governor said 350MW would be delivered by Q1 2018, additional 850MW by Q4 2018, and the balance of 1,800MW not later Q3 2022, while the State Government will support the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to be signed between the Distribution Companies and the embedded power providers, to enhance bankability of the projects.

He said the embedded power will be distributed off-grid within Lagos State through the network of Eko and Ikeja Distribution Companies, while the State Government will support the Distribution Companies in upgrading their distribution infrastructure and installation of smart prepaid meters in the areas where embedded power is deployed.

UNILAG Releases Official Dress Code for Students ” No Low Waist Jeans, Tight Outfits & More”

In a new circular sent to undergraduates, the management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued a dress code notice, expressing displeasure at the fashion of students on campus.
According to the circular, as obtained from an undergraduate of UNILAG, the university management said, “indecent modes of exposure do not reflect the seriousness, dignity and character-moulding nature of the institution.”
The management warned undergraduates to desist from wearing tight outfits and those that expose sensitive parts of the body.
The circular reads; “It has been observed that some male and female students of the University of Lagos dress indecently on campus, even to lectures. Indecent dresses are either too tight, too short or expose sensitive parts of the body.

“Students should maintain a clean and well-cared for appearance in all settings on campus. Wearing of tight, strapless and revealing clothes whose length are above the knees are inappropriate,” the circular read.
Henceforth, male and female UNILAG students are not allowed to wear the following:
i. All tight-fitting clothes including skirts, trousers and blouses
ii. All clothes, which reveal sensitive parts of the body such as the bust, chest, belly, upper arms and the buttocks. Example of such dresses are transparent clothing, spaghetti tops, tubes and. Skirts and dresses with slits above the knees fall in this category.
iii. Outfits such as knickers and mini-skirts, dresses, which are not at least, knee length.
iv. Inappropriate outfits e.g party-wear, beach wear and bathroom slippers should not be worn to lectures.
v. Outfits such as T-shirts, skirts and jeans, which carry obscene and subliminal messages.
vi. Trousers such as hip-riders and low waist jeans.
For matriculation and graduation ceremonies, the management mandated students to wear academic gowns on a black or grey suit.
Lecturers and administrators have also empowered to exclude students from academic activities if they are not properly dressed.

A man was disgraced and beaten silly by prostitutes after he failed to pay for s*x services rendered on New Year’s Day in the Avenues area of Zimbabwe.
The shocking incident which attracted many people happened as the unidentified man was spotted by one of the hookers he refused to pay after having oral s*x with him on Boxing Day.
According to H-metro, on the fateful day, he was assaulted at Gal Court located at corner Eighth Street and Samora Machel Avenue. As fellow hookers took turns to insult him, recording video clips, throwing a used condom on his face, threatening him with unspecified action if he was to delete the recorded video footage.

“We are here for business not to teach or train you how to have s*x with women, vakajaidzwa nhasi wairasa, bhuratishiti,” one of the hookers was heard shouting as they assaulted him. The man refused to identify himself saying he is employed to a uniformed force and it would jeopardize his job.
“Ndiri pama1 wangu, ndanga ndisati ndaita anything so I cannot pay for nothing, that other lady quickly disturbed me demanding extra money for services rendered some time back,” he said refusing to identify himself.
“Ndinoshandira kumauniformed forces so I cannot disclose myself, if you may spare me please, and delete the photographs. They assaulted me and called you to expose me when I did not have s*x with her,” he said begging H-Metro not to publish the story.
Explaining what happened, one of the self-confessed hooker only identified as Tatenda told H-Metro that the man refused to pay after s*x and her colleague woke up and discovered that he was the same person who duped her on Boxing Day.

“This man hooked me along Samora Machel Avenue and we agreed $5 for a short time and upon asking for my money after s*x we undressed, he promised to pay after s*x,” said Tatenda showing a used condom.
“I agreed unaware that he is a liar and my roommate recognised his voice since we are divided by a curtain and informed me that he did it to her on Boxing Day. He assaulted me after I took his clothes refusing to let him leave the room and my friends joined in trying to get paid. We do not extort clients at this flat but such kind of clients who come here without money for training are not welcome, we are here for the upkeep of our kids,” she said.

It is understood that the man had been drinking at a nearby hotel when he left to walk through the market.

But it was when he saw the mannequin that things took a turn for the strange, with the man stripping the doll and himself before starting to make love to it.

Another onlooker, named Ruth Chidzonga, said the size of his manhood became the talking point for quite a while, adding:

“One of the women around here is a sex worker and was commenting on the size based on her experience in the bedroom. She said if he asks for sex with me I give it.”

As 2016 came to an end and we begin a new year, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has thanked Lagosians for the massive support given to his administration last year.

Ambode, in his New Year message, promised to would work assiduously to ensure that the state is taken to the next pedestal in 2017, especially in physical and social infrastructural development.

He assured the residents of the state that he remained totally committed to his promise to deliver a vibrant, non-discriminatory, clean, prosperous and safer Lagos. His words:

“The state witnessed significant improvements in its performance indices due to the massive investment on its tripod of security, infrastructure and job opportunities in 2016.

“More emphasis will be placed on sustaining the growth in 2017 through people-oriented programmes and policies which cut across education, health, agriculture, housing, tourism, environment, among others.

“In 2017, we shall carry out fundamental reforms on all our modes of transportation – roads, water and the walkways.

“In this wise, an integrated transport management system is a priority.”

Ambode said his administration would embark on the urbanization of the Marina axis, waterways channelisation, establishment of more parks and gardens as well as community sports centres and stadia in different locations across the state.

He urged residents to continue to cooperate with his administration, especially in the area of prompt payment of taxes.

The governor also charged residents to continue to keep the peace, saying that it was only in an atmosphere of peace and stability that meaningful projects and programmes could be carried out.

“I promised Lagosians a government of inclusion; I do not intend to renege on that promise. We will continue to work 24 hours round the clock to deliver on our promise to ensure a Lagos that works for all.”

The dry Friday morning found me buckling myself into the airplane seat, heading to Abuja. I was beyond excited for this trip. My best friend, Tomi and I will be spending the weekend at her father’s place in Abuja.
Tomi has been spending one weekend a month with her father since he separated from her mother two years ago. Tomi moved to Lagos after the divorce, to start her University education, and we met not long after she became a student of UNILAG. For the last 2 years, we have been inseparable.
I have always been envious of her monthly trips since I have hardly been out of Lagos. I, only recently, found the nerve to ask my parents if I can go with her, after convincing myself that at 20, I am old enough to take an across state trip. I was blown away when they agreed and got crazy excited when Tomi called to say her father was cool with me coming over.
After landing at the airport in Abuja, we took a cab to her place. The journey was pretty uneventful. We mostly slept though it since we had to wake up extra early for the flight. When we got in the house, Mr. Akinyele, Tomi’s dad, came to greet us at the door.
The first thing I noticed about him was that he was tall, and had a great body. He has got to be in his 50’s, but looking at him, you would not believe he is a day over 30. He was handsome and had that confident, intimidating air about him.
Tomi gave him a hug while I awkwardly stood in the corner, but I found I could not seem to stop staring. She eventually got around to introducing me.
“Dad, this is Diana, my friend from school,” she told him.
“Oh, Diana, nice to meet you,” he said, taking my hand in a handshake “I have heard so much about you. Welcome to my home.”
“It is a lovely home, sir,” I said, flashing him a smile, while feeling my heart flutter at our contact.
“Damn, why did you not tell me your father is handsome?” I demanded of Tomi as soon as we got in her room.
“Eeeew… He is my dad. How am I supposed to know if he is handsome?” She said, throwing a pillow at me.
“Well, he is,” I said, sighing as I sat on the bed.
“Are you attracted to my dad?” Diana asked, with a curious look on her face.
“Okay, now you are the one being gross. Of course not. I just think he looks really young for his age”
Diana looked at me skeptically but decided to let it go.
The day was spent mainly napping, watching movies and eating junk. But on Saturday, Diana took me out to see the sights. Mr. Akinyele had a work thing so he left the house really early. Diana and I had a blast. We visited the shops, the entertainment center, and in the evening, we hit a bar close to the house. I am not much of a drinker but Diana can be a bad influence that way.
She is so much more daring, and I was the reserved one. She convinced me that a weekend getaway trip is an opportunity to let go. I eventually yielded and had two bottles of beer. Not much, but considering my last drink was about a year ago, I got tipsy fast. We eventually got back home and hit the sheets almost immediately.
At about 2am, I woke up seriously thirsty so in my foggy, sleepy and still-a-little-tipsy state, I made my way to the kitchen for some water. While returning from the kitchen, I noticed the TV was on. I made my way to the livingroom to find Mr. Akinyele watching a TV program.
“Good evening, sir,” I said.
“Oh, Tomi, hi. Is there a problem?”
“No, I just came down to get some water.”
“Oh. Okay.” He responded. I noticed his eyes made his way from my face and down to my legs. When I met his eyes again, I noticed something in his eyes, which made me looked myself over too. That was when I realized I was wearing a shirt which barely covered my ass and I had no underwear on.
I got really embarrassed, gave an awkward smile and turned to leave when he cleared his throat.
“Do you want to hang out here? Maybe watch a movie?
I really wanted to get back to bed. But something about this man makes me feel a little nervous telling him “no.” Besides, wouldn’t that be impolite? He is hosting me for a weekend.
I nodded, walked towards the couch and sat by him. I am not sure what we were watching because, all I was thinking was that this sexy man was sitting next to me. I tried to concentrate on the movie, but all I kept doing was sneaking peeks at him. It was when I caught his eyes that I noticed he was looking at me too. Not at me, per se, at my legs.
Remember the barely-there shirt? Well, it has ridden way up since I sat down and my legs were at full display. I shifted uncomfortably.
“Is something wrong? Would you like to watch something different?” He asked me.
“Nah…” I replied. I started thinking maybe I should leave. Because I am having some really naughty thoughts about my friend’s father at this time.
I made to get up when he put a hand on my thigh.
“You are very pretty, he said”
I settled back in the couch and was oddly interested in his palms on my thighs. I did not know what to say.
