ediblesz: Heard it’s really rigorous and could take a lot of time. You can check the website of the Nigerian immigration service; they have instructions on how to renew your passport from abroad- you’ll then choose Ottawa as processing office. 1 Like |

Republic001: When people say all these “I had over 100Million in account and was still refused” I just laugh. It’s really not about the amount. The 42M in your dad’s account is very much okay. And especially since it’s your dad, it’s certainly not refusal based on “insufficient evidence to proof relationship between applicant and sponsor”- What is the likely reason for refusal? SOURCE OF FUNDS. I’m sure you didn’t attach enough information on what your dad does (employment) and how he gets his money (including payslips and/or business documents). - Also, how old are you? You provided any employment information for yourself? Any personal assets? - you can also think of doing GIC or paying a full year’s Tuition. All-in-all, It is not advisable to reapply without getting your GCMS notes. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Nonyilla: First of all let me correct an impression. Colleges are not for only people with 2’2 and below. Most people choose colleges because it avails lots of hands-on experience and high technical proficiency, which may be limited at the Universities. However, colleges are easier to get admissions. Then for Universities, there’s the taught-based and thesis-route Master’s; so it depends on what you seek. When you opt for most of the thesis-route programs, you may get funding. Some taught Master’s also offer funding. Now what is the challenge with universities as opposed to colleges? The admissions at the University are HIGHLY Competitive. So if your leg strong, put body. As for me I’ll advise you look forward to fall 2024. - work on yourself; get extra research/educational skills - revamp your CV. - Work on your SOP - Research on different programs of interest and entry requirements; reach out to the grad Coordinators. - Get strong letters of recommendation. - Have a budget (very important). All the best, W 3 Likes |

Mamaoseme33: The CAD $9k at Humber is it for a year? And wym should you refuse the offer because the tuition is 9k? Were you not expecting to pay tuition? 😂😂😂 Check schools that support Mpower. So far that’s the only one I know. But they don’t support colleges- so you’ll need to check universities in Canada that Mpower supports. Then you’ll now deal with how do you get admission to these universities (since we all know how tight and competitive it is to get admission in Canadian Universities) May God help and strengthen you. Alternatively, you can be working and saving small small in Nigeria, when you gather small money you can push your education forward. Just take it one step at a time and know it’s not a do-or-die matter. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Maria96: My dear oh. I was talking to someone recently. I advised him to have at least one semester fees and small cash to hold for settling down. He asked me: don’t people work and study anymore?... That question is best answered through personal experience. How can a full grown adult wake up from his house, zero or limited plans: leave his house, leave his village and even go as far as leaving his COUNTRY to someone else’s country. 1 Like |

Wsx2: That is why it’s advisable that atleast before you leave for Canada, figure out two things: 1. Pay Atleast full first semester tuition fees 2. Have at least CAD $3000 after paying for your flight: this amount should cover like 2Months rent and help you settle, depending on your province, you may need higher. Some of us have coconut head, we’ll still not hear. After doing all the demonstrations POF and every other thing and getting approval, Na still you go figure out how you go take survive. The streets of Canada are not tarred with money. The four letter word below is important ⬇️⬇️⬇️ PLAN!!! 3 Likes |

Horphdomahh: First things first: 1. Write to Niagara college by Monday to know the current status of your admissions. I believe you have a copy of the “altered/falsified” LOA which the agent submitted. Attach it in the email to Niagara college. After that, you’ll know what to do next Why do people always come to NL after things have gotten sour. Please let’s all maximize this platform: everything you need is here- just read through the threads. Ask as many questions as possible here, someone would definitely attempt your questions. AT NO COST, no risk. I wish you the best 3 Likes |

Vicostar555: It’s okay. I wish you all the very best. A quick one: Did you include her employment letter/ pay slips or something that shows a source of her income (CAC, tax, etc) ? That’ll really show a good source of her funds. |

Vicostar555: In my opinion yeah, your mum didn’t need to do all these transfers to you. If you ask me, I’ll say- still provide your mum’s bank statement for 3-4Months or covering the time she has been making all those transfers to you. Also like Bobomaigida suggested, why didn’t she just pay part or full tuition since the funds are available. She’s your mum, she doesn’t need to transfer any money to you. Her bank statements and tuition fee payment would have been just fine. |

navidennis: - The 5M you have in your account is okay. Just show the proof of the source of funds. - She doesn’t need to gift you any money especially since she’s already in Canada. You said she’ll be paying about CAD$7k for your part tuition, that’s a positive sign to show her commitment, if she could pay full 1year tuition that’s even better than gifting you any money. - she can have as much as she can show proof of source of funds. However, values above CAD$ 50k are recommended. Your expenses for a year is roughly: 15k(tuition)+ 1,500( Health insurance)+ 10k living expenses/accommodation + 4k round trip flight+ 5k miscellaneous (meal plans, books& stationary, settling allowances including winter jackets).. TOTAL: about 36k per annum. *2 (roughly 70k) so let’s say you have 5M, which is about $CAD15k, then she pays 7k part tuition. That’s 22k off. She’ll need to show like 60-70k. Most importantly show she’s actively working and she’s seeing money. All the best 1 Like |
