Family / Re: What Is The Prescription For Anger? by whao: 11:37pm On Nov 16, 2014 |
Here is another technique and hope they will be of help to you @op and any ready of this post. COGNITIVE RESTRUCTURING Simply put, cognitive restructuring means changing the way you think. When you're angry, your thinking can get overly dramatic. When something goes wrong, you might tell yourself, "Everything's ruined!" With cognitive restructuring, you replace those kinds of thoughts with more reasonable ones. You might tell yourself instead, "This is frustrating, but it's not the end of the world." Try these strategies: Avoid words like "never" or "always"when talking about yourself or others. Statements like "This never works" or "You're always forgetting things" make you feel your anger is justified and there's no way to solve the problem. Such statements also alienate and humiliate people who might otherwise be willing to work with you on a solution. Focus on goals. Say you have a friend who's constantly late when you get together. Don't go on the attack. Instead, think about what you want to accomplish. State the problem and then try to find a solution that works for both of you. If that doesn't work, take matters into your own hands. You might tell your friend to meet you half an hour earlier than you plan to arrive, so that he or she will get there when you do. Either way, the problem is solved — without damaging the friendship. Use logic. Even when it's justified, anger can quickly become irrational. Remind yourself that the world is not out to get you and that you're just experiencing one of life's inevitable rough spots. Do this each time you start feeling angry, and you'll get a more balanced perspective. Translate expectations into desires.Angry people tend to demand things, whether it's fairness, appreciation, agreement, or just the willingness to do things their way. We are all hurt, disappointed, and frustrated when we don't get what we want, but don't let disappointment turn into anger. Some people use anger as a way to avoid feeling hurt, but that doesn't make the hurt go away. Instead, become aware of your demanding nature and change your demands into requests. Saying you would like something is healthier than saying you must have it. I can go on and on to help you secure your normal tempo but its upto you bro, do the rightful thing and don't forget I charge per each therapy and lecture rended. We nairalanders want positive testimonies from you. Cheers. 1 Like |

In psychology there is what we call cognitive-behavioral therapy which improved people's control of their anger and reduced their hostility, aggression, and depression. Here are some strategies you can use to simmer down. If you are in a relationship with a hot-tempered partner as a nairalander, you could both benefit from these techniques. RELAXATION Simple relaxation tools, such as deep breathing and relaxing imagery, can help soothe angry feelings. Try these simple steps: Breathe deeply, from your diaphragm. Breathing from your chest won't relax you, so picture your breath coming up from your "gut."Slowly repeat a calming word or phrase, such as "relax" or "take it easy." Keep repeating it to yourself while breathing deeply. Use imagery. Visualize a relaxing experience from your memory or your imagination. Try non-strenuous, slow exercises. Yoga and similar activities can relax your muscles and calm you down. Practice these techniques daily. Eventually, you'll be able to use them automatically when you're in a tense situation. 1 Like |

There is no prescription for anger per say but there is what we called ANGER MANAGEMENT in psych.... that can help you manage your anger. We all know what anger is, Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems at work like you did slap your boss, in your personal relationships as you design your girlfriends face.... (don't take it personal its just how I counsel), and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. Easily angered people don't always curse and throw things; sometimes they withdraw socially, sulk, or get physically ill. People who are easily angered generally have what some psychologists call a low tolerance for frustration, meaning simply that they feel that they should not have to be subjected to frustration, inconvenience, or annoyance. They can't take things in stride, and they're particularly infuriated if the situation seems somehow unjust: for example, being corrected for a minor mistake. My brother I will share with you the strategies in coping anger especially the chronic one possibly like yours. |

firstEVA: I was thinking we have to individually help in this issue of security! About a month ago I went to MUBI for an intervention and discovered it will be difficult for the islamic terrorist sect to over power our people but my logic was wrong. Information is very powerful and that's what they use cos they have lots of informants, slow but steady am sure we will win the battle. Let's just keep praying for our president cos its not easy as we think and be watchful too so as not to become victims of the boys. Long live Nigeria, long live Nairalanders and long live Mr president and the good leaders. 1 Like |

firstEVA: Indeed so shameful, but wait a minute! President Yar'adua offer the millitants amnesty and the accepted the offer, president GEJ offers them same but SHEKAU said over their dead bodies to lay their arms "we re fighting for Allah and every ARNE(meaning a non muslim) who does not turn to islam must be killed"......... Now you can understand their cause is more of religion that politics and the sokalled muslim leaders who wanted to use them to fight religion can't stop them anymore. Shekau has seen money and power to control thousands of evil troops to destroy innocent lives n nw u expect him to handover power? Don't forget that they re power phrick n can die for it. Don't expect GEJ to carry gun and fight cos he is the chief security, don't forget must of the serving chiefs re from the north, they hv ministers n lots of political favor from Mr president, what re they doing instead of stealing the money belonging to the buying of new weapons n empowering the armies in war front. Tell me, what do u really want GEJ to do 3 Likes |

Romance / A Reply From CEO Of J.P. Morgan To A Pretty Girl Seeking A Rich Husband. by whao: 9:05am On Nov 09, 2014 |
A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum: Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy? I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here. I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with N25M annual salary or above. You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of N65M is considered only as middle class in Abuja. My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of N25M annual salary? Are you all married? I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you? Among those I’ve dated, the richest is N1.5M annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit. If someone is going to move into high cost residential area in Abuja like Asokoro and Maitama, N1.5M annual income is not enough. I’m here humbly to ask a few questions: 1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym) 2) Which age group should I target? 3) Why most wives of the riches are only average-looking? I’ve met a few girls who don’t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys. 4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married) Ms. Pretty A philosophical reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan: Dear Ms. Pretty, I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than N25M, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I’m not wasting time here. From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain. Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of “beauty" and “money" : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later. By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a “trading position". If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or “leased". Anyone with over N25M annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with N25M annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool. Hope this reply helps. signed, J.P. Morgan CEO What is your opinion on such kind of losers using their beauty in exchange of virtue as if its a right. That's my take anyway! Say yours. 1 Like 1 Share |

dicefrost: Regarding the word "TABULA RASA" The term also is used as the name of an epistemological theory that individuals are born without built-in mental content and that all of their knowledge comes from experience and perception. Generally, proponents of the tabula rasa theory favour the "nurture" side of the nature versus nurture debate when it comes to aspects of one's personality, social and emotional behaviour, and intelligence. I totally agree with you Dicefrost, Let us not forget that Ella's behavior and personality are experience nurtured from the outside world of social activities from friends and society. She wants to belong and thereby get involve despite her parental strictness, she had a good nature but bad experience(nurture). Hope you complete your story dicefrost. |

Whao! The best story ever read on NL. Lots of lesson learn from the epic till date. I believe I have an edge over those who haven't read this. Lesson 1: never keep your children in safe home guard, they need experience from friends and colleagues. Lesson 2: train a child in a way s/he should grow and when s/he grows it will not depart from them. Influence of bad parenting affects children and too much of everything is bad including the cathekist exaggeration. Lesson 3: learn to trust even your children, her mum went too far by inspecting her virginity. Lesson 4: influence of bad friends can chance your character and behavior. Ruth is a professional liar and prostitute, now Ella is a victim without noticing it. Anyway let me wait till the end of the story. Dice you have a great skill, keep it up. 4 Likes |

If I ask whether you re' a believe I know you will say YES! And you re' proud of the evil act attached your topic, no remorse or guilty of what Gal 5:19-21 says. The bible rebuke sexual immorality and say in verse 21 that any who take part In any of the sin will not inherit the kingdom of God. Rev 21:8 also mention the sexually immoral and say their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. Just have a second thought sweetheart and change. I lament for this generation, we keep asking God for a caring, loving and godfearing husband while we re' not ourself. I advice that you better ask for pardon and forgiveness from the merciful Jesus and He will forgive you and bless you marriage with a man who will not just satisfy but give you peace of mind and joy in your marriage. My dear you re' searching for shadow in marriage while the real thing is forgotten! What a pity. Read Heb 13:4. Salvation is what you need now not some fornication hubby. My take and I pray you understand that their is more to life in true marriage than what you re' looking for now. |
