Politics / Re: Oil Price Hits Three-months High At $41.43 by Wizabakar(m): 8:56am On Mar 09, 2016 |
odiks: Oil prices rose one per cent yesterday with benchmark Brent prices hitting a three-month high on hopes for a coordinated approach by major producers to support prices.
Brent crude futures were trading at $41.43 a barrel at their highest since Dec. 9, up 59 cents on the day.
On Monday, the contract had climbed by 5.5 per cent in intra-day trading and it has now gained more than 50 per cent since this year low on Jan. 20.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were up 38 cents at $38.28 a barrel.
“The bullish sentiment continues to push prices up or the absence of negative news,” said Carsten Fritsch, senior oil analyst at Commerzbank in Frankfurt.
News of a meeting of Latin American crude producers set in Quito for Friday had boosted oil prices on Monday, and bullish sentiment swept over into yesterday’s session.
The members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other producers in Russia are also due to meet for talks on March 20, according to the Nigerian petroleum minister, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu.
Kuwait’s oil minister said yesterday that his country’s participation in an output freeze would require all major oil producers, including Iran, to be on board.
“I’ll go full power if there’s no agreement. Every barrel I produce I’ll sell,” Anas al-Saleh told reporters in Kuwait City.

Angola sees nigeria as an hausa / islamic nation. This is why going to Angola now as a Nigerian is one of the most difficult things you can ever imagine. After a turbulent week as a result of fuel scarcity and hike in Imo state , I'm compressed to ask this question ; Why do we buy fuel between #120 -130 and the same fuel is being sold #87 in the north? Does it mean that the govt only subsidises fuel that goes to the north.... and easterners can buy high.

Politics / Re: Fayose Challenges Buhari To Try Yobe INEC REC Over Alleged N15m Bribe by Wizabakar(m): 9:07pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
kurt09: Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute the Yobe State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Abu Zarma, who was alleged to have received N15 million bribe to influence the Yobe State Governorship election.
The governor said it was only when that is done that the President’s fight against corruption can enjoy the needed credibility, adding that; “If nothing is done on a case as clear as that of the INEC REC, Nigerians can as well kiss President Buhari anti-corruption fight goodbye.”
In a release issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was worrisome that despite that details of the two bank accounts of the INEC REC, which showed that N15 million was lodged into his accounts few days to the April 11 election was admitted as evidence by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the state, the REC has not been charged to court.
He said; “It is on record that two officials of Diamond Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc, tendered exhibits confirming the payment of N15 million into the REC’s accounts by the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Zakari Deba.
“The ADC allegedly paid N8 million into the Diamond Bank account of the INEC REC and N7 million into his Zenith Bank accounts on April 8, 2015, three days before the governorship election. As at the time the N8 million was paid into the Diamond Bank account, only N28, 000 was in the account.
“Why then is the Yobe INEC REC not being tried yet? Why has he not been charged to court?
“If the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is foot-dragging on the arraignment of the INEC REC and the governor’s ADC, why hasn’t President Buhari directed the Police to commence the prosecution?
