Mfunkynation: Abeg I discovered that return/refunds for defective items received no longer have options for buyers to choose "not to return". Is this the new trend on AE? It's being a while I received a defective item and I'm used to keeping the defective one while the seller either sends a new one or refunds me. The purchase protection for the item runs out in three days. And I've communicated with the seller with video evidence uploaded, but the n0nsense dude replied me with only. "okay". Soo I decided to escalate and n0nsense AE is telling me to "head over to post office to drop the item". I was like are dey madt ni? Shey they don't know how much it's gonna cost me to send a 6 USD defective item back to China using nipost? Please make Una help me quick o. By the way the item was delivered via speedaf. Reason for the quick delivery before expiry of purchase protection.

Hybrid600: This is exactly the reason behind the name. Neophytes that don't know about the various battery chemistry will hear that lithium battery is good and lasts much longer than LA, then rush to go buy "Lithium battery". And true true, na "Lithium battery" he buy, so why should it not last long. There are many ways to increase sales of a product, but this here is one bad way to make sales - tricking ignorant buyers. 1 Like |

Submissions have been apt on this. A hybrid inverter in place of felicity standalone (even 7.5kva felicity hybrid inverter is still okay) and a badass 48v LFP pack within your budget is the way to go. The moment I saw 2 tubular batteries in tbe lineup from your installer, I just made up my mind about him 606thearena: 3 Likes |

ojesymsym: With Tuya smart life app, the timer can work for instance on "turn off" or "turn on" times. Also for dusk (sunrise) or dawn (sundown) but this dusk - dawn option is only available on select smart plugs, not all smart plugs. As for the Tuya Infra Red remote, it doesn't have those timer options available on its app UI. I don't know much about node red sha. |

swagifted: No. I use it for Startimes. And it works fine especially for all the major buttons/functions. NB: I retired my DSTV decoder years ago and adopted Startimes cos of the shenanigans of the former, plus I'm not a football guy, so I don't think I'm missing much. I also have similar aversion to using MTN 😁, though thankfully other alternative networks are good on location. |

ojesymsym: Actually I just thought about something now as you mentioned this. One of my tuya devices is a remote control that I use to operate the TV, sound system and decoder from the phone. You can programme almost any remote, and I mean almost any remote, to it and control it on your phone from anywhere in the world. It's just that it doesn't have facility for timer.

twinskenny: Pray tell. Are these ice block making machines the ones manufactured using Air conditioners? Do they use the flash-freeze mechanism where you can get your ice block ready in less than 24 hours? I have an ice block set up too, but it is with regular 317L freezer and it takes like 3 days for things to freeze over. It's just a means to channel the excess power generated into something worthwhile. |

helinues: helinues: The government actually put the horse before the cart by stationing security to maintain order and protect civilians on the said "Biafra day". But the aggressor (which was also being protected by the civilians) decided to murder peace by killing the horse (five men and their trucks burnt). So sadly, now the military will not again consider putting the horse before that cart for fear of getting the horse killed again. For now, the cart should be in front, protecting the horse which is at the rear, from slugs. Once the threat is taken care of, the horse can resume its position in the front. To mitigate the collective reprisal, the civilians can help to identify the culprits (which they know and live among them) and report them to the authorities, not necessarily to the army who may understandably sentimentally be unfair in metting out justice to the criminals. durodee: I have six of these, the first of the six procured almost 4 years ago. The last one was about 2 years ago. The lights you described blink in all. Even when I bought a barebone PowMr variant CC (all the components excluding the metal case & screws) to DIY a mobile all-in-one power station, it still has that blinking light. I wonder why the removed the light in their new iteration. And even with weaker fans. Shrink-flation maybe. MakeSkyBlue was turning out to be an annoyingly expensive offer before PowMr came out and they had an online tug of war (imitation etc) for a while. I think it has died down now. I have a unit of MakeSkyBlue and the coming of PowMr was Godsent affordability when the former was getting unbearably expensive. 1 Like |

There is AI mode on the remote which is the mode I select to achieve the power saving. It senses the room temperature and appropriately ramps us condenser to cool it further or remain constant as the case may be. As for the integration to determine consumption through state of charge of battery, that one na something wet I never sabi. Maybe any of our guys here has an idea sha. ojesymsym: |

Sapiosexuality: Someone mentioned few posts back that appliances may stop working if put in storage for a long time without use. Is this why you made that statement - (deform for lack of use)? I have a Bluetooth energy meter that I retired/disconnected from the set up about 2 years ago and actually intended to sell it that time. I later put in storage. Few days ago, I tried to reconnect it and found out the screen backlight would not work. I even thought the monitor was bad, but I was able to shine light at some angle and realized it was the backlight. This is something working perfectly before it went into storage. Pray tell, it this school of thought so valid? I fear cos I have spare inverters (12v, 24v, 48v) in storage for use as back-up on days when repairs (God forbid) needs to be done on main units.

I just log off at that point, because it requires some programming which sincerely I can't say I wanna even dabble into. My hands are full already and I fear that once I start dabbling into the realm of programming of any kind, I may be disappointed in myself if i dont catch up fast or if i give up along the way cos of the same problem dat precludes my foray into it - TIME. |

Sapiosexuality: It's possible the input from your panels to the controller not yet the sufficient voltage that your CC requires, which means you'll hwve to wait past "early morning sun" a while to get to proper sun 🌞. It could also be that the connection is compromised at some point. Consider the following questions: ° Did your installer rip/cut off the MC4 connectors on that panel and do a direct naked wire connection instead? Many unlearned installers do this and with time, exposure of the junction to the elements result in compromise and reduced/interrupted voltage flow to the controller. ° Are your panels premium brand or at least one of the good ones? Were they purchssed used or new? The not-so-premium ones have bad wires on them and also bad connection to their MC4s so that with time, same thing as above 👆🏾 also happens. ° Could your MC4 connectors have partial contact at some point along the connection btw the panels? ° Are the wires from panels to controller good? Did he use the recommended stranded wires and not "NEPA" cable like some would do? ° How secured is the connection to the terminals of your charge controller? Note that in such cases of cases as above scenarios, you may even see the correct voltage expected from your panels displayed on your CC, but you won't be seeing any amperage or powee goung into the battery. 1 Like |

TCD: They're pretty affordable and easy to install. They are available online at AliExpre55. Someone here, @ojeysky I think, uses Tasmota instead of Tuya, but I didn't go the Tasmota way cos of the flashing and programming it requires which I'm not adept at. For the Tuya, you only need the app installed on your device and also a WiFi router in your home and with data subscription if you intend to do remote monitoring and control. Although without data subscription, you can only do monitoring when you're at home and your device is on the same network as the switches. Attached are a few of the devices I have and the screenshot of the app interface on my device. 3 Likes

Update on the AC: So I toyed around with some of the functions few hours ago. ° Immediately after turning it on, I started by running it in Jet mode to rapidly cool down the room. Consumption ramped up to the usual 1070w -ish. The room cooled down from 30deg to 27deg in about 30 minutes after which the Jet mode then automatically (as is indicated in the manual) changed from Jet mode to regular mode. The indicator on the remote control also indicated the change. ° At that point, the consumption had dropped to 940w and another one hour it dropped further to 840 watts. At this point I pressed the "Gen mode" button repeatedly but expectedly no obvious response or change in consumption. ° Next, I fondled with the "mode" button and to select the "Automatic mode" on the remote. Then following the manual instructions on the use of the mode function (picture attached), I selected "number 2" (keep room cold), and the internal fan ramped down its speed but the vanes kept moving and I also noticed that the external unit fan also stopped and the consumption dropped to 15w. It remained at 15w for about 30 minutes after which I drove out somewhere and left it on but monitoring the consumption on the phone. Apparently it was recirculating the already cold air that is in the room. ° Another one hour and I noticed that the consumption had ramped up to 271w and stayed there. Since I wasn't at home, I couldn't tell what was going on. I came home after 2 hours and noticed that the external unit had kicked in, and was probably responsible for that ramp up to 271w from the initial 15w. The room temperature remained at between 26deg to 27deg. It's four hours after and the consumption had further dipped to 267w It seems there is something "energy saving" about this unit after all. Although I assume temperatures still get to as low as 18 deg with these ACs, the 26 degrees notwithstanding is adequate for a lone me in the room. I guess cos of that "automatic mode", if it again senses ambient temperature rise due to presence of increased number of people in the room, it will likely ramp up the consumption further to do the job to maintain the expected cooling temperature. NB: Pardon the long story. I just felt being detailed enough helps to inform readers, and maybe prospective users, better on these things. 12 Likes

jonescosmos: Thanks for the info. Dustproofing an appliance like that may require totally shrouding it in some form of metallic or plastic case. And being a resistive appliance, it will require adequate ventilation to get rid of the heat that accompanies use. That precludes attempt to dustproof it. Also the manufacturers probably are aware of that achilles heel of their servo stabs but are probably not worried cos the dust issue is only a problem in dusty subsaharan environment which constitutes a small part of their customer base. So that brings us to the relay version as the available type. Are there any downsides of the relay version compared to servo types? I don't think I have seen relay types with 10kva capacity or more. From your experience which relay type stabilisers would you recommend? |

So I don't wanna make another terrible error, this time with a central stabilizer. I may need to get one anytime as I was able to secure a prepaid meter that has for a while been installed but not used cos it had some error codes which made me unable to load a key change code and credit. The issue has been resolved. So I discovered the voltage supply is a terrible regular 160v and seldom 180v. I did some searches and saw Prag, A&E dunamis models (10kva) and another funny name like this (Jor-El) 😁 as in Karl Kent name. Anyways experienced users should kindly provide some info. • Which models are tested and trusted? Few days ago, I pulled out about 4 units from storage that I last used about 6 years ago and realised they can't seem to handle the 160v input. • How durable are these things? I read one of the reviews on Konga where a buyer cursed that the Jor-El he bought didn't last more than 6 months and it stopped working. • How good are they in protecting appliances? My appliances have been safest on solar for many years now but foraging back into NEPA means I may be courting damage to these appliances from overvoltages, undervoltages and fluctuations. • Any other questions that I may have missed but that experienced users know will also be welcome. Thanks as always. NB: I assume 10kva may suffice for loads which I anticipate may max to around 4kva with future upgrades/addition of appliances. I also do not intend to hook my inverter AC charging unit to anything NEPA under any conditions whatsoever. It should continue to use the solar charging abeg, to avoid stories that touch. I've however thought about installing an automatic rapid changeover switch to handle the change from inverter to NEPA whenever the latter gets the seizure brain waves to provide supply.

mctfopt: From what I've read here, hisense' performance is better than LG's. But I don't think Hisense has at par energy saving options as LG has. I haven't even come across any hisense special names for AC the same way LG has (smart inverter, dual inverter) or Thernocool (Genpal) Hisense ńa just Hisense. 😊 But it is always way cheaper than LG and thermocool which basically market their already established names. Not just their ACs but most of their appliances. As per that deal, I hope they find buyer soon jàre. I don't like the way I'm seeing that AC everyday. It makes me mad with myself each time I see it or use it. If una find anybody wey dey interested sha. I'm even ready to foot the logistics bills to the person. |
